oh no...the 'sold by' is not written as 'Amazon' but some Japanese wording which translate to 'Matsumoto Online'.

So I gave it a go and ordered my first item from Amazon Japan (mobile phone).

Summing up my experience:

11-Sep:
Ordered the item on Amazon JP (Amazon seller)

12-Sep:
Package left the carrier facility (I assume the warehouse) - JAPAN

13-Sep:
(1AM) Item was flown to Hong Kong
(8AM) Item arrived in Subang
(9AM) DHL informed me to process and submit SIRIM clearance
(12NN) Submitted the form from SIRIM website and informed SIRIM officer via WhatsApp.
(2PM) SIRIM officer approved the form and documents
(2:30PM) Paid SIRIM RM40 to get the Clearance letter
(2:30PM) Submitted the clearance letter to DHL via Email (and waiting for response)

So now, I'm waiting for DHL to acknowledge the clearance letter so they can send the parcel.

Side note for those asking why I purchased from Amazon Japan:
1. The phone model is not available in Malaysia
2. It is available in Amazon US and Amazon UK but wayyyyy more expensive. The price difference is RM1,000.

What phone? Sounds like good deal. Sharp Aquous R7?
Import tax already calculated inside the purchase price right?

this morning i just bought something costing Yen14,007 with my cc.... a few hours later, bank apps notify Yen140.07 was charged to my cc. Am I gonna get just some plastic bag/box (without the actual stuff that I purchased) in the parcel?
*
Don't worry, it should be a legit seller. I encountered before the same thing, pricing show in Amazon JP and card charged is decimal different. But in the end statement still comes the actual cost converted to ringgit.

- It's a Motorola Edge 40 as I am a fan of Moto.
- Yes, import tax is already included in the calculation when you pay Amazon.
You could still pay a bit more OR get a refund if Amazon miscalculated the import tax. Based on my experience with Amazon US, I still received a tax refund because they charged me more than they should.

(I am still waiting for DHL whether I need to pay additional tax for this imported item)

All phones these days are global units unless you buy a CDMA phone (which is very rare since even Verizon Wireless in the US are using CDMA/GSM phones).
This is not my first time buying an imported phone so there should be no issue using Malaysia SIM.

What phone did you buy and why do you need to bypass?
RM100? Did you login to SIRIM and submit the application yourself?

Btw, if DHL is your courier, they will give you 2 options:

Option 1: You apply the SIRIM Clearance yourself -- which what I did. Login to SIRIM, submit all the documents and pay RM40.
Option 2: You let DHL do the "dirty work" which is not even difficult. You still need to send the all the document and they will submit the documents on your behalf.
How much will they charge? RM40 (for the clearance letter) + RM100 (DHL service fee) = RM140 LOL
