QUOTE(unknown @ Oct 18 2007, 12:57 AM) Ref. make mistakes for the penalty kick, clearly the foul outside the box. The England hope for Euro2008 very slim, I don't think Russia will blow this golden chance. Yes, it probably wasn't a penalty (foul outside the box) but still, we should have been way ahead of the group by now. Sigh, thumbs down McClaren regardless of whether Israel do us a favor or not.

QUOTE(aztechx @ Oct 18 2007, 12:58 AM) the last two 3 matches were a joy to watch..winning by big margin and i just thought mclaren was finally having a grip on the team..i am rooting for spain for euro but sumhow england has a special place in my heart..ceh.. Added on October 18, 2007, 12:59 amoww yea..and the camera angle sucks!!reminds me of highbury... McClaren is a joke. The changes that he made to the team that were good were all forced and not by him. We had Richards in only when Gaz was out. Lamps was dropped only when he was injured. We would never have dropped him if he were fit. Results can be deceiving. We probably didn't deserve to lose this game but we didn't steamroll our mediocre oppositions. We were scrappy and at times, shitty.

I find it shocking that we'd crucify Phil at Euro 2000 but not the Spanish ref here.

my friend, a conspiracy theorist suggested the F1 feud had something to do with it Alonso (Spanish) and Hamilton (English). I know it's silly but just thought you know.

Who'll make it? The soccer team or the rugby team because if it's the rugby team you are talking about, Jonny Be Good will deliver the goods

If England don't qualify, they deserve it just as they would if they DID qualify. But regardless of qualification or not, we shouldn't have had to wait for the last game to do so!

QUOTE(mfaizalzul @ Nov 18 2007, 03:25 PM) scotland better than england.... heeehe You know, I just don't get people like this. Is this England National Talk or Let's Flame England Talk? Because if it's the latter, let me know and I won't set in here again. This is as retarded as a United fan going to the Arsenal thread and saying We better than you.....heeehe This post has been edited by kobe8byrant: Nov 18 2007, 06:54 PM

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Nov 19 2007, 12:34 PM) I'm amazed by how fortunate England are. It seems that whenever they are on the brink of elimination, other results will go their way. The Russian's really did them a huge favour. You could say it's luck but I look at it differently. If England vs Russia were the last match and Russia vs Israel were the first match and Russia still lost, England would have qualified already. I think it balances itself out. Just like some may say Scotland were robbed, they weren't good enough over the period of one qualifying campaign.

we played negatively and still conceded 2 that early on?
Added on November 22, 2007, 3:37 pmCampbell has been past his best. Why we haven't started picking anyone else earlier than that is a wonder.

I was actually thinking Steven Taylor and Lescott doesn't even play Centre Back for Everton (unless I only watched him when he plays at left back) and what has Wes Brown done wrong to not be chosen in the starting eleven?

QUOTE(alien2003 @ Nov 22 2007, 04:05 PM) Steven Taylor is in the U21 so he is not in senior squad. For Lescott, he did played most of last season as LB but since the arrival of Leighton Baines, he has switched back to CB role. As for Brown, not sure why he is not getting game time. Which makes me ask why isn't he in the senior squad? Are you telling me it is imperative for England U21 to achieve success more than the senior team? Enough with Beckham. He may have had an assist but it's time to blood youngsters. f*** SWP (who ain't a kid anymore, he's 27 or 28) and throw in Theo Walcott who has done well for Arsenal when brought on. Injuries as an excuse? We knew Owen would be as f***ed as Saha in terms of being vulnerable to injuries, yet Macca decided to play him in a piss poor meaningless friendly. The article posted by verx sums England up. Talk shit about English managing England, I say go back with the foreigners. Most of the English managers know nuts about tactics if you ask me. Big Sam, we all thought he would do wonders with Newcastle, but nothing as of yet and Curbs hasn't done anything to merit being touted as the new England manager.

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Nov 22 2007, 04:16 PM) I just read an article on soccernet where McLaren is now saying that it's time to look at the U-21 players. DUH! We've been saying that for ages haven't we? The juniors are putting the seniors to shame. Mind sending the link? My browser can't access Soccernet. Don't ask me why.

QUOTE(madmoz @ Nov 22 2007, 04:21 PM) For a no hoper, he sure is trying real hard to cling to his job! I would have had the dignity to resign immediately after the match, but no, he has to rubbish the U21's as well. Probably worried that the U21 coach (is it Pearce) will get his job instead? Pearce may have done well but does he have the tactical nous to cut it at international level. It's one thing to go with heart but with no brains, we'd still be a headless chicken. I think Capello would be the best choice based on that reason.
