hear hear.
i support sub-forum for stocks.
but some ppl might take advantage and spam even more to increase post count.
eg: useless spam/copy+paste updates which can be pulled from newspapers. eg: >20K post count.

I was wondering if we could create sub forums for each individual stock exchange, KLSE, DOW, etc. Would be easier for discussion. No wait, "World Stock Exchanges" would be a better sub forum. Then we can open threads accordingly.

Posting in a sub-forum does not increase post count as far as I know. Added on December 12, 2007, 3:38 pmQUOTE(refnulf @ Dec 12 2007, 01:32 PM) I was wondering if we could create sub forums for each individual stock exchange, KLSE, DOW, etc. Would be easier for discussion. No wait, "World Stock Exchanges" would be a better sub forum. Then we can open threads accordingly. A stock-market sub-forum means ANY discussion on stock market is allowed. Does not need to be classified. If you feel like discussing US markets with interested posters, just start a thread in the sub-forum titled "US MARKET CHAT" or even individual stocks "US: Google Stock Discussion". While people interested in trading CPO can open a "CPO FUTURES: ALL TRADERS COME IN!!" thread. So I don't think it is necessary to open different sub-forums for different markets. As they are all under the same tree. This post has been edited by skiddtrader: Dec 12 2007, 03:38 PM

Stock Market Disscussion/Chat <-- kopitiam, rumor, speculation talk, chit chat, your portfolio, what you buy/sell, etc etc goes here Stock Market Technical/Fundamental analysis <-- news from media, stock chart, price update, quote, research material etc etc goes here.. so actually we only need 2 subforum, just my opinion

How much discussion is there about the stockmarket to warrant 2 new subforums? The Finance subforum itself isn't all that fast moving and there is plenty of room to open new threads there. Segregating it into subforums tend to chase away readers.

I think readers are just not doing proper searches. They can't expect everything to be at the top of the page.

Why not open new threads in the main subforum then? I'll add stockmarket tags for easy filtering of threads.

IF the TS remembers to tag the thread then it'll make things a hell of a lot easier when filtering. Unless of course there's 200 different stock market threads but I doubt it'll get to that level.

I'm asking for one sub-forum for stock market discussion only. As I don't think it warrants 2 sub-forums as well. I'm not sure if all forum users are aware or know how to tag their threads properly and like low yat 82 has said, at the moment the mods are closing new stock market threads in the Finance sub-forum and redirecting people to the stock market thread. Searching for stock market related threads now only points to the main thread which like have been presented, is not a suitable place to hold discussions due to heavy posting.

|
ok, sounds fair.
There will be one new subforum under Finance for Stock Market discussions, but due to the potential for abuse, it will be a no-post-count subforum.

Off-topic yet on-topic: While you're with the tags, hope you can consider on just adding these few tags as well: - Anime Shrine: Cosplay - Gamer's Hideout: Arcade, General (this is for news or general discussion) Also, hopefully there can also be a sticky on one Cyber Cafe Business topic in the Finance section. A search done in that section --> http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Sear...hlite=cybercafeThere's 5 of this popular topics; and it could've been 6 last time when I made one (back when the section just started), but it was merged.

QUOTE(_alamak_ @ Oct 17 2007, 11:52 AM) OBJECT! If we have different topic for each stock, then there are too many threads to read. I prefer what we have currently. What we need is everyone to participate timely. i admire your guts to be different.
