Hello everyone,
I'm getting 1 unit of Asus P750 tomorrow. I know it's a not new model but the price is RM899 (brand new with full accessories and 1 yr phone star warranty) which is the biggest pulling factor. Anything I should look out for? Tks. This post has been edited by syd04: Nov 8 2009, 10:49 PM |

QUOTE(syd04 @ Nov 8 2009, 10:47 PM) Hello everyone, Hi, syd04. That's quite a bargain U got there for a brand new P750. May I know where did U find it & are there any extras such as a memory card & screen protectors?I'm getting 1 unit of Asus P750 tomorrow. I know it's a not new model but the price is RM899 (brand new with full accessories and 1 yr phone star warranty) which is the biggest pulling factor. Anything I should look out for? Tks. Well, simply check the usual stuff like the device if it's working / not. Turn it on on the spot. Look out for dead pixels, speakers & mic., keypad function, chipped paint & corners especially the silver band along the sides & brushed metal bordering the screen. - Baronic's Guide To Purchasing a PDA: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/832752 Do make sure the warranty date, serial & IMEI no.s on the device match the ones on the box & all accessories are there. Checklist:- - Phone unit - 2 batteries - AC adapter - Mini-USB data cable - Wired stereo headset - 2 styli - In-car phone charger - Car kit (phone holder & windshield suction pedestal) - Leather protection case - "Getting Started" CD - User manual - Quick start guide - Warranty card |

Hi Terrasmark,
Thanks so much. Added on November 13, 2009, 10:22 amHello everyone, I'm new to the Asus P750 and I have a few questions. 1. When I tap on ram icon on Asus status icon, it does not show running programs tab. There are only Main and Storage card tabs seen. How do I stop running programs? I was using HP6828 before this. 2. After calibrating the screen, the alignment is still off. I have to tap slightly more right. I have already hard reset before, does this mean it is hardware problem and not software? 3. Are the left and right softkeys programmable? My left is currently showing "Phone" and right is showing "Contacts". 4. What is the purpose for the "Hold" function? I can't think of anything to use it for. That's all for now. Tks. This post has been edited by syd04: Nov 13 2009, 10:22 AM |

I can't think of anything to use it for. That's all for now. Tks. __________ 1) In WM, "Storage" represents ROM memory & "Main" represents RAM. Also, total RAM is displayed as being less than mentioned in the device spec.s coz' some is being internally used for OS management. Unless U install a 3rd party s/w to handle running prog.s, U can use "Task Manager" / set "Auto Cleaner" to force-close prog.s when the Close button is tapped (used w/ a combination of the "Task Switcher" button on the lower left corner of the keypad). 2) Sometimes, I have to ensure that my device's screen calibration perfectly suits my style. Depending on whether U're holding the device & tapping the screen (w/ the stylus) at an angle, U might need to compensate for the tiny error. If the screen alignment remains way off, U might need to get ASUSTeK to check it out. It might be a h/w defect. 3) Yes, the softkeys're programmable, either via 3rd party s/w / registry editing. Search engines're your saviour / perhaps Baronic's PDA applications recommendations. 4) Unless U've been using a PDA phone for years, U have no idea how life-saving the Hold fn. is. The Hold slider locks the P750 such that it will not respond to screen taps & button presses. The P750 do respond to certain buttons even when its on standby. E.g.: The Call button. Not sliding it to Hold before putting the P750 into your tight jeans pocket might lead to accidental & oftentimes embarrasing calls, if U know waht I mean.... __________ QUOTE(Terrasmark @ Oct 19 2009, 08:23 PM) Hello, fellow forumers. I've encountered some prob.s w/ my P750. Hope anyone has a soln. to them. Still no answers? 1) The sound sys. went dead! No sound from the main & ear speakers. When there's a call, the person on the other end of the line hears absolutely nothing from my end, which implies that my mic.'s dead. Also, I hear absolutely nothing from the other end as well. I thought it's a case of h/w failure til' I tried turning the speakerphone on. Normally, we tap the "Speaker On" button on the screen & it'll turn into a "Speaker Off" button. But the button doesn't change to the "Speaker Off" button, hence speakerphone couldn't be turned on! This suggests that it could be a s/w prob. instead. BTW, soft/hard-resetting didn't solve the prob. 2) Plugging in the 2.5mm audio jack automatically activates voice cmd. Help! 3) Exactly how do we use the "Auto Cleaner"? Specifically, the "forced" close func. 4) Is there a way to map the "OK" button to force-close prog.s instead of minimizing them? 5) The "Flash light for: No limit" in the "Sounds & Notifications" settings doesn't work. The red notification light stops blinking after about 15min. Crucial when there're missed calls / new text msg.s. Thx. |

1) sounds like hardware, if a hard reset doesnt solve anything, u'll have to send to the shops. an alternative before hard reset is to retrace your steps whatever u installed. problems do not occur randomly. u must have done something to it if its software issue. probably something u installed clashed.
2) no idea. suggest doing like issue 1. 3 & 4) not sure about asus, but under start > settings, maybe look for something called Task Manager. option shud be there. 5) try googling for a registry key edit for that? no idea why it SHOULDNT work. unless its a custom rom and the chef screwed something up |

QUOTE(phahmeen @ Dec 16 2009, 09:25 PM) QUOTE(kamikazwe @ Dec 17 2009, 12:55 PM) kamikazwe. Are U trying to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader? Tried & found it to be very memory resource-hungry. I don't think there's an official support for WM6.1, at least based from their website (Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0). Dunno what built-in PDF reader other devices use though...I use Foxit Reader instead. |

I had the same problem about a week ago. I noticed it started to happen after I installed Opera Mobile 10 beta. When I uninstalled Opera Mobile 10, do a soft reset, and the camera works again. Try checking the last few softwares that you installed before the problem occured, and try uninstalling them. Most likely it is a software conflict, like mine. This post has been edited by denver: Jan 30 2010, 12:14 AM |
