Is this due to too many KL ppl went to Ipoh nowadays, they push up the food prices there?

If you have ever bought pre-packed meal from any hypermarket, you will realize most of them not very appetizing.
The rice surely not nice, cold and hard. The meat/vege mostly also don't taste nice.

Eat occasionally maybe okay, but won't be your meal of choice daily.

PG island seldom got noodle below RM5 nowadays. More and more starting at RM5.50-6.00 onwards, but the portion is tiny and not much ingredients compare to KL noodles.

In that case really pity Ipoh lah, no reason why any youngsters would even consider work in Ipoh, might as well just work in KL or go SG.

locals also don't know where to take you to cheap & nice priced meal coz there's simply no such
place available anymore. I guess it's all thanks to all those weekend holiday makers pushing the

if u know where to find still got below RM5 wan tan mee (near my place RM4.50) but yes these day most of the food starting price is RM5 in penang.

ipoh food is made by lazy ppl . The wan tan mee and char koay teow got no fried lard. Eat yong tau fu or pork noodles got no fried garlic. buntong chicken rice uses normal white rice. However they like to charge you premium price for their food.


Houses are not well kept. The wall beside the house is not cemented and you can see the bricks even after hundreds of years. The roads are full of potholes. No pavement. Their market is uses zinc rooftop . so old .


One of the lousiest major chinese cities in malaysia.

Well that's what I do since I WFH nowadays. I also no appetite when thinking what to eat outside, knowing I will mostly get plain noodles with little ingredients and waste of time caught in traffic jam

at least mixed rice is more complete nutritious meal, while noodles with little meat and almost devoid of vege.

cannot imagine those living in melaka, penang, ipoh, go out eat need to deal with jam, fight with tourist, parking lik cb, every weekend also dont feel like going out

Yes. So it wasn't only me. Was having breakfast at a so-called famous ipoh kopitiam, price came up to rm 160 for 4 person.

Granted the food is good and we did order quite a bit but some items quite expensive for Ipoh. Curry noodles with seafood rm33. Roti bakar RM6.5.

Not saying we can't afford or food not nice but just seems like KLCC price.

sorry ya for stating the truth. I have been to most cities in malaysia and i can say that ipoh is one of btm of the list. The food is really expensive and the city is really old. U should go to kuching . Their city is well planned and all their house are very beautiful and well constructed.

u kena potong leher by some spm dropout chau ah beng food vendor la, noodle take from factory, wantan from econsave, sauce from bangla, know how to cook maggi mee only then come out buka gerai, shop sign put number 1 in town lmao, shitload of them nowadays

even the few well known and authentic HK wantan noodle shop i usually go one still like rm5-6 only, aint gonna introduce here, already damn crowded

Move to Typing, Anson or Kuala Kangsar then.

Got a few la. Jelapang pan mee quite good. Stadium fish bee hoon. quite nice . Langkap pau nice. Chicken hor fun in town good too. Dim sum quite good but exp too. Nam heong kopi and pastries nice too. Tuck kee moonlight koay teow not bad too.

These meals are for B40 and those cannot afford to buy higher quality meals. This not for those with M40 and T20 quality stomach.

Even on holiday that place have only local customers. I won't say they are better than others but they are equally good; without the tourist factor.

Not even comparing it to "higher quality" meals, just comparing to normal hawker meal.

Sabah is the most exp in term of food prices but the food in Sabah gives you value.

That day went kudat eat fried rice and fried noodle . The seafood they give is worth it. Sabah is seafood heaven and the fried noodle is the best in my. Even cooking from suluk and indon taste good. Crazy.

Tourist destination is bad for the local unless they make a living out of the tourism.

Is jew guys fault la , all keep say ipoh cheap , ipoh a lot of good food etc ..... then all the tourist go makan everywhere ..... F&B sure rise the price one, got money dun wanna earn meh?

There is only a few old stall still keep a decent price base on local price point, the rest is influence by hippies that went over to ipoh and open gimmick shop to contest against local F&B.

Got 1 cha sat 1 week before CNY rise price till after CNY.

The rise of Ipoh as food heaven relieves some pressure off PG though...
