Hello....I am a newbies here....
I am curious to know....
The first question...
Who is the person in Malaysia that reaalllly making money from Aquilaria Industry?
The person who planted the plant?
Or
the person who selling the plant?
2ndly,
Anyone here who knows someone that reaalllly had planted the plant
& had already gained the profit? From the chips or from the oils?
3rdly,
Anyone knows the "high" demand are from where?
The chips as well as the oil?
what is the demand look like - pure/mixture/ light distillation oil?
Should anyone knew the answer for all these three question, then you are really a great person.
Do PM me, please.....as I do have the Aquilaria Hirta - candan Gunung, Candan Gajah & Candan Bukit for planting purpose ready for sale....But you need to bring your own transport ler......
Good to see that the thread is alive!

I will try to answer the question to my best understanding.
1. Who is making money in Malaysia? I say the illegal poachers! Most of the gaharu sold in the market (or black market) are taken illegally from the wild. Gaharu plantation is still very new in Malaysia so gaharu produced in large-scale plantation is very small in quantity. You can make a living selling gaharu seedlings because there is a high demand but finding the planting material is going to be challenging.
2. I know a number of people that has planted gaharu but they havent harvested it yet. Chips fetch a higher price compare to oil.
3. There are a high demand of chips and oil in Japan, China, Taiwan, and Middle East. Alot of European perfume manufacturer are looking for a reliable source of oil for their perfume.
jika73 & Sham903n and whoever is in Sabah: Hey guys! Interested to meet up in Kota Kinabalu on a weekend to chat about gaharu? I should be around on the 1st or the 2nd Of November 2008. It will be a friendly gathering like what we have done in June with amir and neilson. Dont worry, no admittance fee will be charged but you have to buy our own drinks lah!
