thanks for the heads up. so i read the cable provided by samseng is not up to the mark to charge 45w. we need to purchase another 5A rated type c cable to do it?
*
yup, need to buy 5A cable separately. can buy authentic samseng cable from lazada also for a slightly cheaper price.
the male usb-c parts will have "5A" indicator on them.

the one provided in the phone box is a narrow cable, whereas the 5A cable is visibly thicker.

thanks bro, i am using  the provided cable to charge using the 25w slot on the charger. to me also charge quite fast ler. are those so called samseng  products on lazada genuine?some like too cheap to be true ler. lol  but anyway..searching for the 5A cable now. cheers!
*
those "too cheap" ones are fake products unfortunately. a lot of reviews (and even positive reviews) simply because Malaysians are cheapskates.

https://s.lazada.com.my/s.U50lQ I bought accessories from this shop instead. sometimes got shop voucher, stacked with lazada voucher can get good enough price. my previous order from this shop are stacked with shop and lazada vouchers.

yeah...that's why good thing not cheap, cheap things may not be good. caveat
*
the shop I linked sells ori samsung accessories so u won't have to worry about it, and it's not cheap as well (they only give 10% discount while compared with samseng's MSRP, before voucher)

accessories I bought from said shop is SIRIM certified

QUOTE(kevinyap100 @ Feb 24 2023, 03:17 PM)
what do you guy think about protect battery function (limit charge upto 85%)?

for example, if i didn't use it, then i only need to charge 7times per week.
but if i use it , then i need to charge 9 to 11 times per week.

what i trying to ask is, the purpose of protect battery is increase lifespan. but in return the battery capacity i can use for 1charge is lower, which will in turn make me need to charge more times.
for my case, do you guys think i shall just charge to 100% ? or keep using protect battery function ?

sorry for my bad English 🤣🤣
*
when you charge 9 to 11 times per week, each charge u make is not considered 1 cycle. charging from 0 to 100 equates to 1 cycle. therefore even if u increase your charging frequency to charge from 40 to 85, according to accubattery, it counts as 0.2 to 0.3 charge cycle only. charging from 40 to 100 however equates to 0.6 charge cycle. note that this is according to accubattery estimation and not an accurate representation of charge cycle and battery life, we simply do not have proof of the charge cycle being calculated that way.

I don't turn on the protect battery function though. not saying that it's a "gimmick" but why not just use your phone as intended, and with discipline. discipline in a sense of:
- not charging your phone overnight
- don't use your phone while charging
- (bonus) use routines to turn on/off NFC, mobile data when connected to wifi etc.
- (bonus) make full control on location on/off toggle and bluetooth on/off toggle, or use routines to automate these
- (bonus) turn on light mode

with SFC 2.0, even though it's slower than 100w/120w/240w phones which charge 0-100 under 30 minutes, your phone can already fill up its battery from 40% to 100% in around half an hour.
with your S23/S23+/S23 ultra, since the battery is so good, I can use my phone till 50% before sleeping, wake up 8 hours later and the battery is at 47-48%, browse a little more then charge the phone, go washroom cuci myself, go back to my room and the battery is sitting at 95% and above.

what app you use to monitor the battery level?
*
it's iOS's shortcuts...in OneUI, it's called routines
in shortcuts/routines, you can set a conditional trigger, e.g. if battery level at 80%, do this and that

one of my routines are when connected to home wifi, turn off NFC and mobile data, reverse if otherwise.

My phone takes 200mp photos instantly also, but when I tap to look back at the photos I have just taken, the photo appears, and then there's a "processing" logo below, and 2 seconds later, the photo "changes" - like it has been processed already, with deeper colours and more warm tones.

Anyone has this issue and know how to fix it?
*
this is not an "issue", this is samsung's way of handling post processing.

There is no post processing in 12mp, only 50 and 200mp.
*
samseng is tricking u...the post processing for 12MP is still there. but since its 12MP only, the post processing is instant while compared to higher resolution photos such as 50 and 200MP. try to compare your viewfinder and the snapped photo of the same scene, you'll always notice there's something different even at 12MP.

there's a reason why dxomark rated the deviation of s23 ultra's viewfinder and actual photo with low score while 14 pro max has a higher score.

QUOTE(perfect10 @ Mar 1 2023, 03:24 PM)
Just realized when on 50mp and 200mp, we can't zoom. Anyway when should we be using 200mp?
*
the s23 ultra has 4 rear cams:
- 200MP main cam
- 10MP 3x and 10x telephoto cams
- 12MP UW cam

when you "zoom", the phone switches to other camera. tapping 3x zoom switches to 3x telephoto cam, while 10x switches to the 10x periscope tele cam.
when you move close enough to a subject, the phone auto switches to the UW cam (or by manually tapping on the 0.6x zoom) for better "macro shots"

this means that the main cam is incapable of optical zooming at all. all phones today are like this. each cam comes with a fixed set of aperture and focal length unlike DSLRs and mirrorless cams (because they are interchangeable lens cams). the reason you cannot "zoom" in 50MP and 200MP, is simply because there's no 200MP sensor on both 3x telephoto cam and 10x periscope cam to begin with. only way to achieve is digital zoom or phone companies figure out a way to combine variable optical zoom, up to 10x, on the main cam without sacrificing thickness.

about 95% of the s23 ultra out there has this dent. mine also affected. samseng claims it's not a defect (in cainis: https://www.samsung.com/tw/support/mobile-d...ghtened-light/)

can do 200mp portrait mode?  hmm.gif
*
u can try it urself biggrin.gif
anyway portrait mode offers 1x and 3x, 1x is the main cam (the one with 200MP sensor) while 3x is telephoto cam. doesn't offer 200MP for the main cam though.
3x tele cam is default mode because it has the perfect range of focal length for portraits which is 70mm.

go bug samseng bout it? just telling u samseng claims it's not a defect and my s23u also affected. if enough ppl bug them about it and finally greenlight a recall, I'd gladly submit my device for a replacement.

An update from Samsung about my cosmetic defect S23U Graphite. After 2 days, they called me just now and gave me 2 options:
1. Collect the device and send it to service center. After inspection, they will advise whether a repair or a replacement is needed.
2. Don't collect the device. SES will send the device back to warehouse. And they will refund to me.

I have a dilemma here.
Option 1: Don't know how long it will take to get repair/replacement
Option 2: Now I can immediately walk in and get ready stock from SES or other retailers. But I will miss out on the preorder offer: RM600 trade in rebate and RM400 voucher.

What would be your best advice, fellow lyn?
*
refund will be better in this case, option 1 is simply risky. if immediate replacement then I'd take it but that's not the case.

the "preorder offer" doesn't really end here, next year samseng will still gonna pull that off for their s24 lineup. if your current device still can last till next year of course. if not, and you're flexible enough on switching brands, can try out other devices such as xiaomi 13 pro, honor magic5 pro and stuffs.

Folks,

I just came back from Vietnam, some of the Wi-Fi there when my s23 ultra lime green got connected, there will be a message that says wechat cannot be connected and have to do it via mobile data. Then I read somewhere there's a problem with some wifi connection.

Are you guys facing the same issue, ie no internet when connected via wifi or certain apps no internet access?
*
i hear it's s23u having problem dealing with wifi 6. when u were in Vietnam, were those wifi using wifi 6?
