The cost of 1 single master room (no ensuite) is like 1k+ on average, apart from some shady ones less than 1k.

In UK case, I heard its proud. Many sohem who was here, illegal or legal, loves to share that they're renting a 2-3k flat in London zone 2 or 3 and compare it x5 value, saying gold is everywhere in London back to malaysian friends. But in fact, their 2-3k flat is something like three bed, no ensuite, shared bathroom, and hardly quiet. (also, dun forget its sendiri shiok, in fact its shared with like 3 to 5 other housemates.)

Which area are u in? The nearer to CBD, the higher it is. Try looking in some suburban areas like Yishun / Sembawang / Sengkang or Woodlands.
