Trying to start a serious one of my own.

Diet:

Breakfast= Cup of Milo and bowl of cornflakes (sometimes mix with Coco Crunch tongue.gif)

But I was wondering if I could have a Cup of Milo before workout and some bread toasts after workouts? I heard exercising on an empty stomach is better. blush.gif

Lunch= Plate of rice with mostly vegetables and meat (if it ain't fried). Otherwise, I'll take eggs and vegetables.

Dinner= Rice + vegetables + fish/chicken

In between if hungry, tin of Milo or HL milk or packet of Julies' peanut butter sandwich. Suffering from gastric, so need to be considerate la. laugh.gif

Weight
: 95 kg/210 pounds (if the scale is right)

Height: 185 cm or 175 cm (forgot the middle digit). I know I am about 5 feet 6 or 5 feet 7 because my friend is around that height as well.

Goal: Lose weight? I'll only be happy when my man boobs and man arse stop protruding out.

Motivation:
- Want to sweat less. I think my weight is the reason why I sweat for no reason.
- Nothing to do in this three months. Taking 3 subjects only. Might as well hit the gym.
- 18 and not laid. BIG PROBLEM to me whistling.gif

Would like to thank darklight 79, SydG and Canopies for tolerating my noob-ness. This goes out to everyone else who is willing to post in this thread and give constructive comments. notworthy.gif
________________

Past two days used magnetic bike - cycle 15 minutes (don't remember the speed) but throat was dry and muscle pain, so I'd take it as a good sign.

Wanted to use the treadmill and as some users said, 7.5 km's a good speed but my college's treadmill's crap. So long to adjust speed. I can't pull the emergency stop button every time, can I? doh.gif So I was wondering if I were to pursue with the treadmill at slower speeds and build up or what? Anyone knows what is a good speed and duration to start with the treadmill? Scared to go too fast as I have said, it takes a long time to slow down the speed. And I'm out of breath quickly. Haven't done this, like EVER tongue.gif

And would I get same effects if I were to just run around the basketball court early in the morning? unsure.gif

Played with dumbbells today, 15' (don't know KG or pounds, it just wrote 15) seems like my optimum lor. Will google some good dumbbell exercises.

Did some seated leg curls today. Set the weight at the 4th or 5th black bar and just did it. Problem seems to be that I can't have my leg to be 100 percent flat. Is it machine's prob or I just ain't pushing that hard to make my legs go from reverse L to _______????

My school has 2 machines but when I googled, I found one machine with the 2 workouts. It's called a multigym.

http://www.worldofhealthandleisure.co.uk/multigyms.htm <- the first pic on your left is the one I am talking about. From going up to down, what is the machine called? And the one where you have to put your shoulders like " I____O________I, what is that machine called? Can anyone tell me so I can google the proper way to use it? LOL

And when playing with those machines, I normally do 10 leg curls, move on to the 2 machines and then go back to do 10 more leg curls and I'd repeat until I complete 40 or 50. Is it correct? Or am I doing too much or I'll have to do all 40-50 at once?

I plan to do the same thing over and over again for 5 days and Saturday and Sunday, try doing some HIIT around my housing block. (30 sec sprints and 30 second jog alternate lor). Canopies suggested just go all out on treadmill 1 hour (if I read it correctly). Should I do that?

I'm kinda afraid to do squats and stuff. Scared I'll hurt my spine or back. I mean, I want to lose weight, not go Hulk Hogan tongue.gif

Sorry for the tons of questions and thanks for the answers. biggrin.gif

ok, firstly some major tweak...

1. Never ever ever eat cereals with a cartoon maskot on the box. Ever.
2. Drop the julies biscuit crap. Milk is fine tho.
3. Your diet seems ok other than the ones i mentioned above.... but i am guessing it's
not so much on the type of things u eat, it's the quantity.

i didn't read the remaining of the essay... maybe later

1. LOL. Need change ma. Everyday corn flakes plain, boring la.
2. Too much milk causes me to defaecate liquid. I ain't kidding. I drank 1 carton of milk during midnight which wasn't expired, next day see doctor. Happened twice.
3. I think it's the type as well. I ate Happy meals on a daily basis in the past. I quit fast food a couple of weeks before I planned this. And whenever I had chicken curry, 3 plates of rice : / NOT ANYMORE tongue.gif flex.gif

Hope you read and give advice biggrin.gif

1 carton of milk on a single serving, 3 plates of rice on a single sitting....
those are quantity issues, my friend.

how to mention how much?

breakfast -1 bowl of corn flakes? how to quantify? LOL

For lunch- a BOWL (standard chinese restaurant size) with 2 scoops of a vegetable (normally 2 vegetables)

dinner- a bowl of rice, meat: eiher 1 chicken drumstick or 1 piece of mah yau yue tongue.gif and a scoop of vegetable. that's about it.

I gradually controlled my diet from a couple of months edi la.

Five feet seven is around 175 la my friend.

Hmm.. I believe I was in your shoes last time. I tweaked my diet when I was at your weight from 2 meals of rice to one meal of rice for lunch. Rice is not recommended for dinner my friend.

Ideal diet is definitely Heavy breakfast, medium lunch and light dinner. As for dinner, we didn't do much activities, our body tend to burn less calories or use calories, so tend to eat less at night.

It worked out successfully on me at the weight last time as I managed to reduced from 104kg to 81kg in five months. Yet! It just don't seem to work anymore now even I've stopped eating rice for three weeks, don't see much difference on the scale. haha!

what is a bowl of cereals?
a big ass bowl which is equal to 1/4 or half of the cereal pack ?
say it in grams.... give a rough estimation.

Milk usually one glass (around 300ml) per serving....
one carton (1liter) can lasts me 2,3 days.

Milk are slow digesting food.... usually one big mouthful is enough to last you through the next meal.
You don't need to drink the whole box. But this is just an example, i'm not saying u still drink 1 carton.

maybe after all the years of you eating in huge quantities, you "think" it's okay...
maybe a big ass portion is actually small to you. Try observing what your other smaller sized
frens are consuming per serving.

I'll check out and jot down how many minutes I put in daily in a notebook and update here. biggrin.gif Is doing a harder level for less time better or easier level for more time? I just started so 1 hour cardio is gonna be suicide. doh.gif

You're anxious arent you.

I'm gonna give comments after a few days. At your weight I think long cardio with moderate intensity (u can still speak while exercising) is better cause HIIT requires a lil more strength to be performed (sprinting requires strong quads wink.gif)

Anyhoo I squat and DL too. Trust me darling I dont look anything like Hulk Hogan smile.gif

Well, I don't know la. I mean, I am a bit kiasu. If I were to study for an exam, I'll ace it. So for losing weight, not seeing the effects is kinda demeaning. I know I'll have to suck it up and learn to be patient. It'll take time tongue.gif

how long is long cardio? Sorry for the questions : / But if I were to go an hour cardio, does it mean no water breaks or rest 2-3 minutes what soever? It must be full hour non-stop? As for intensity, level 6-7, I can still speak a short sentence but don't know la, always thought PANTING non stop was the way to go tongue.gif

I ran on the "panting non stop" period for 77minutes during Subang10k run. Thrashed my immune system and hormones went haywire. Took a week to recover. Not fun.

Kiasuness while losing weight is bad mmmkay. I'm actually thankful you dont have a digital weight scale at your home else you'd be measuring when u wake up, after breakfast, after peeing, after pangsai, before n after workout, before sleep etc etc biggrin.gif

Ya know what will help you? A heart rate monitor.
