Previously old router, didnt get it to work seamlessly, now with a new WIFI-6 router, also didnt get it to work properly, so after trialing for 1-2 weeks decided to turn it off. If router is place in living room, everything good, most device will link up on 5Ghz and everything working fine. Rooms at edge or toilets will get very weak signal or no signal. So cannot work. Router place back at the hallway/walkway location, everywhere getting decent coverage. Problem happens when you are at the edge or where 5Ghz signal start to drop off and you will get occasion issue where no signal and the wifi drop the 5Ghz and connect to 2.4Ghz and cant find anyway to go around this problem. So switched off band steering and manually connect to either 5Ghz signal or 2.4Ghz signal. Also did manual channel settings, find an unused channel and use that band.

hello, it helpdesk speaking.
tbh depends on your house, maybe single router enough, but have strong antenna, triband and setting to reduce constant switching is important too.

Mesh is a good idea for your case. Perhaps you wanna explore it.
There a limit one single consumer router can do. Even with the best brand or multi antennas.

You have to understand that no matter how powerful is your router, your device is one of the limitation. Your router can blast and reach to the device but the device power is lower and unable to reach the router in the end it wont work. So is two ways communication. Mesh is your best bet.

QUOTE(ReverseDark @ Nov 28 2022, 09:09 AM) turn off band steering, just manually connect to the band resolve the problem, why need to use extender or mesh. Anyway these devices dont work properly as well, better off using Ethernet over power and place another AP

There this small office in KL decide renovate their place by partitioning their place to make it more nicer and more privacy. Once the renovator done the job during weekend, the next monday all worker have a big trouble.
The partition wall block all the 5G wifi. Staff pc/laptop no signal. The ISP provider came and say wifi+router no problem. Its your partition wall. and left.
Give them solution a) chop of half of partition - not 100% b) get multiple wifi/extender - 100% work c) remove all partition like previously d) move all staff to nearer wifi

My company stuck with the junk dlink trashcan router and the range is barely half of what I achieved at home with TUF-5400
