source: https://simpleflying.com/comac-c919-airbus-a320/C919 is no match to A320ceo, not to mention A320neo. It can seat fewer passengers, and have shorter range. But of course, COMAC can sell the plane at a discount to international customers. Meanwhile, CCP will take care of domestic customers. COMAC will be able to break the Airbus / Boeing duopoly, but no so soon.

EU & US is transferring their aviation tech & know-how to China. The Chinese is learning very fast. It is still a work in progress.

You know how long it took Airbus to just be on par with Boeing?
I'm not doubting Comac but it will be some time before they can be a real challenge to Airbus.

QUOTE(ekoh @ Nov 9 2022, 12:33 PM) China still can't produce a fuel efficient engine for their plane yet, it is their next goal err.... they're using the LEAP 1-C engine from CFM (which is the improved version of the LEAP 1-A used in A320NEO) In fact, most of the aircraft critical parts are sourced from western companies

Not as efficient as a320neo, safety record also not sure of yet. If any Airlines get that plane, I'll be wary of booking with them.

Always have to start somewhere and then improve after a small market share has been established. Look at how China smartphone and electric vehicle brands have established themselves so quickly.
Not many countries can go into this line because of their small internal market. Only big countries like China, Russia and probably India has the market size to support a startup local passenger plane manufacturer.

Airbus launched A300 in 1969. Ten years later... QUOTE ...by 1979 there were 81 A300 passenger liners in service with 14 airlines, alongside 133 firm orders and 88 options.[18] Ten years after the official launch of the A300, the company had achieved a 26 per cent market share in terms of dollar value... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A300Pretty impressive. Meanwhile, C919 was launched in 2008, and it is still not in service yet.
