C919 is no match to A320ceo, not to mention A320neo. It can seat fewer passengers, and have shorter range.

But of course, COMAC can sell the plane at a discount to international customers. Meanwhile, CCP will take care of domestic customers.

COMAC will be able to break the Airbus / Boeing duopoly, but no so soon.

EU & US is transferring their aviation tech & know-how to China. The Chinese is learning very fast. It is still a work in progress.

Next gen C919 is probably 20 years away. By that time Airbus would have come out with the successor of A320neo already.

You know how long it took Airbus to just be on par with Boeing?

I'm not doubting Comac but it will be some time before they can be a real challenge to Airbus.

Airbus launched A300 in 1969. Ten years later...

Pretty impressive.
Meanwhile, C919 was launched in 2008, and it is still not in service yet.

Spare parts are easy to make. Trained pilots and technicians are bigger issues.

This is what RIM Blackberry CEO once said when Apple join smartphone market.
they are Far behind, in a very very long time, they will playing catch up.
Usually people only believe what they see now and pass.
very very few people have the vision that able to see future.
that is why most visionary (before their vision come true), most people took them as "noob", "silly"

Airliner development takes a long time. You can't compare it to making mobile phones.

Apple beat RIM because of technology breakthrough. In civil aviation, if China wants breakthrough, it will have to develop electric or hybrid airplanes, or new supersonic airplanes.
