what earplug do you guys use to protect your ear?
or should i just get a helmet that has better seal?
the wind blowing in my ears starting to get me.. need to protect my eardrum

do you have any problem listening to other vehicle with the earplug on?
*
I use these, already 3-4 years liao and now only the extended tab where u use to pull the earplug out is starting to break.

Non affiliated link btw

Compared to foamies, it doesn't cut out as much noise so I can still listen to music etc on my comms, and also it lets in more frequencies vs the foamies which muffles everything, so music is more enjoyable too. But it blocks enough noise that it isn't painful at ultra highway speeds if you know what I mean.

3M 1110 foam earplugs - 29NRR

jaycee1 macam got two types...
3M 1250 - 23NRR (https://www.3m.com.au/3M/en_AU/p/d/v000057702/)
3M 1250 - 33NRR (https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/v000057705/)

Nightstalker1993
https://shp.ee/98ipmym (Musician silicon earplugs) - 27 attenuation

As for me, I use small earplugs, Mack's purple (31) or pink (30)
- my exhaust got stock cat, and slip on with dB killer

Patent
helmets itself can cause noise, earplugs are a must. Do you use earbuds? Some earbuds come with different sized tips, which one you use?
For me, I usually need the smallest earbud tip, out of the 2 or 3 that usually come with earbuds. Based on this, I can't use standard size earplugs for too long. I've ordered these and try them before deciding on Mack's:
- unbranded blue earplugs (regular)
- 3M EAR classic, EAR taper, EAR express, EARsoft yellow, EARsoft FX (https://www.3m.com.au/3M/en_AU/p/c/ppe/hearing-protection/earplugs/)
- Macks Purple, Pink (both smaller size)

Unless you have some ridiculous exhaust, the major noisemaker is still the helmet and wind. I can't ride for long above 130kmh without earplugs else my ears would literally hurt. And I'm using one of the quietest helmets in the market(shoei neotec 2)and my head is in pretty clean air too.

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Jun 12 2023, 02:11 PM)
1250 comes with corded tak? one of the main reasons i stick to 1110 besides being easy to find, is for the corded versions...n they r practically everywhere... even easier to find than non corded.

agree with foamies... i triede them silicon ones beforee (which i got for free when i bought snorkeling goggles)... the ends were too damn long that it hurts my ear really badly. foamies when installed properly can be comfy for a whole day ride.
haz corded? macam insteresting
did a ride last weekend... kl-sg petani-kl....day trip.. avg cruising was about 140-160kmh

just installed helmet speakers... n i couldnt find my earplugs anywhere n i was late... so rushed out and did the entire ride without earplugs n music blasting....and also the lovely sound of my loud exhaust on my z900.

ears felt like it was ringing for the rest of the night......

earplugs definitely a must.
*
Damn how you tahan 140-160kmh without earplugs. I rode from genting karak exit to Subang and didn't put on my earplugs because initially was supposed to take sempah down but changed plans. My speed capped at 130kmh because any more and it hurts. Eventhough I capped at 130, when I reached my destination, my ears were noticeably affected for the next few hours as I had trouble hearing for that period.

QUOTE(Jason @ Jun 12 2023, 02:24 PM)
not really, for heroes who preach no need for ear plugs, makes absolutely no difference for them. they are fine. wind noise not that great also.
I believe them, and they are not lying. Because they have already lost their hearing... ear plugs won't help you get it back magically.

it's like a blind man telling you don't need sunglasses.
*
Yeah I'd like to preserve my hearing and also not get ringing ears. I read on reddit some guy actually killed himself because of it. Imagine hearing ringing in your ears which you can't stop, can drive people mad.

OK la, if got unevenness should mean the leather is real leather. If too perfect then not really real leather kot 🤣

Saw the ad says it is CE rated. Do you see the ce label in the shoe and what are the 4 numbers below the ce label?

Anyway, just refreshed some of my gear to something more protective and hopefully long lasting. Went to Winmaster in balakong who are the distributor for Furygan, Shark helmets and a relatively new shoe brand called Eleveit. I was supposed to get gloves only to replace my old Furygan Jet D3o gloves, but since I was there already went and tried their shoes also and coincidentally new stock which includes new models just arrived last Friday.

user posted image

After trying out a few shoes, my feet fell in love with this pair immediately as it can actually fit my feet! It's the Eleveit Venom WR. WR as in water resistant. My feet are pretty wide and I always have trouble searching for shoes that can fit me but this particular model have a very wide toe box design making it really comfortable for me. My feet is supposed to be a size 10.5-11 width 4E-5E but wearing this shoe size 12 it fits just nice. Not too long and the width is just right.

It is also water resistant and rates a '2' in almost all the CE rating except abrasion resistance which is good enough for me as I'm going to be using this for my daily commute mostly and occasional rides. Only thing is I need to get used to using a high cut shoe, the sole is pretty thick and the shoe itself is quite stiff since its still new, so shifting gear really needs some effort for now. Price is supposed to be around 1k, he had not finalised the price yet but he gave me a very good price being the first customer for these shoes.

For gloves I ended up choosing the Furygan F-RS1 which retails around RM6xx. It is their 2nd highest end glove in their lineup and feels really good in the hand. Made out of 90% goat leather hopefully it will last me long. Always wanted to try long cuff but was worried it won't be comfortable especially with my watch but I'm glad to report that it fits very well above the jacket sleeves and even above my thick gshock watch. I remember testing other brands long cuff gloves and don't find it comfortable but these are pretty comfortable for me. Only gripe is that I tested free hand in the shop and it felt nice and snug then, but when riding I notice my thumbs are pushing at the end of the glove causing some slight discomfort after some time. Hopefully the glove will wear in after awhile and it should... Fit like a glove.... by then 🤣

Another weird thing is that the exact same model in red/white colour scheme have a very slightly longer thumb and now I wish I'd taken that instead.

And now I've got gloves with matching colour scheme as my helmet laugh.gif

Ps: I don't have any affiliations with these brands in case it might sound like it. Just sharing my purchase with relatively unknown brands which offers good value for money especially the shoes. Really surprised to find a shoe that can fit my leg and was so happy that I decided to buy it on the spot to replace my old A* Drystar crx which have really crappy protection with a rating of '1' in all the categories.

sent it back and exchanged for a new pair with no spots.
this one looks much better with no blemish.  rclxms.gif

i've tried redwings leather cream on these boot. too light.
then put on shoe cream (neutral color) on it. a bit darker.
i still have tinted shoe cream light brown that i'm gonna try next.
and last that i'll try on these is mink oil since that will darken the leather pretty substantially.

1 2 2 2
ankle high
superior abrasion resistance
superior impact cut
superior transverse rigidity

not bad for a 200+ shoes eh  brows.gif

Bloody hell that's damn good weyh. And the first '1' actually means it's technically still a low cut boot. If its a high cut boot then perfect score liao.

My alpinestar crx drystar damn shit for rm879 retail laugh.gif

On a side note, anybody wants my alpinestar size 12? Almost 1 year old, condition 8/10. Bought rm879, offer me. But now people here know what cheap and good shoe to buy liao, I don't think mine got market laugh.gif

Want to ask,

For these leather jacket (Alpinestar, Dainese, Komine..), do you speciffically need to wear their undergarment or any shirt would do?
*
I don't wear leather jacket, but regular mesh jacket also gets I tend to sweat alot.

I wear jersey type t shirt, my favourite being from Decathlon. Thin, breathable and quick to dry

Here also so quiet, lai I come revive it laugh.gif

My previous Furygan gloves are short at the thumbs so not suitable for me, researched around and bought the cheapest CE KP2 rated gloves in the market, the LS2 Swift. Bought from Motardinn for only rm380 including shipping but now I see that model is being sold on shopee by Ls2 Vietnam for around rm400 but no XXL size so if they have your size, just buy it from there.

Read reviews and most suggest to go up one size as I usually wear an XL but now I feel I should had just bought an XL as the glove feels slightly too big as there is extra glove at all my fingers including thumbs. But I guess too big is better than being too small, the downsides of buying clothing online. Now sometimes I accidentally hit the horn button when engaging the signals.

Overall the build quality is superb, somehow the leather on this feels stretchable and really soft, the wrist strap can undo completely so it is super easy to wear and remove. The inside liner is weirdly velvety and soft, really comfortable. At the knuckles and wrist area protection the leather is double layer. The material of the gloves overall feels really thick and padded some what, almost but not quite like a winter glove thus making it feel somewhat bulky but still comfortable. Kp2 rating is really no joke.

nice gloves. the palm sliders remind me of stingray leather on Held gloves. high quality gloves are now affordable by these disruptive brands. This LS2 used to make MHR helmets, and those were so much cheaper than LS2 now.

cow leather is best, goatskin on the palm is best, just wondering what 'superfabric' is used. does it look like kevlar or aramid? what color is it? like pale yellow? what I know kevlar/aramid/keprotech are pale yellow that lines the interior of gloves
*
Thanks! After using it for some time, overall these are seriously nice gloves. Holds up very well, build quality is seriously good and no doubt about the safety of the gloves since they managed to get CE KP2 rated afterall.

I think the superfabric is used only at certain part at the palm area and is black. Interior of the gloves looks like all black as well.

the rear shock isnt that bad, good enough for my weight.

After some cleanup, doesn't look like it have been through accident..

Damn man rarely do bikes end up in that good of a condition after crashing off the road into grass. Did you try to lean more when you realized you had underestimated the corner? For cornering do you lean in or do you corner with body upright type? Glad you're ok but damn your new helmet sakit hati sial.

Change sliders and bar end weights then the bike is as good as new laugh.gif

Wonder if it's an MT09 would it had cracked the frame in this type of accident hmm.gif

Nothing wrong with the tires, from his own description he ran out of lean angle and low sided the corner, not because the tire lost grip.

Hmmm looks like you don't really lean too much in the corners and thus not comfortable with leaning too much when in a panic?

I ride my bike primarily to work but I try to layan corners on my way to work and back when I can. My tires looks like this.

yeah my rear tire did get into the sandy part of the curb edge, then it slide away
I think thats also the reason my front part of the bike dont get much damage, only the slider and also the exhaust got scratch a bit
*
So maybe what most probably happened is you ran the corner wide and low sided when your tire hit the sand. After this time to practise leaning in more so when shit hits the fan at least you know how to force the bike down more to tighten up the turn and prevent running wide.
