Got my Pixel7pro 2 days ago, great phone so far, even coming from a P6pro. Haven't had overheating issues too; recorded a 4k video for 15 minutes straight with no warnings or overheating.

Just a heads up, the usual hack of editing the xml file for carrierconfig still works. So to add wifi-calling, I did the usual root, extract the file, added in this line

<boolean name="carrier_wfc_ims_available_bool" value="true" />

And now have wifi calling. Tested and it works (wifi icon appears next to my phone call when calling on wifi). Volte works out of the box so no issue also. So after that, reflash the stock init_boot.img and now back to unrooted and still having both Volte and wifi calling smile.gif

Cheers

I found this config in the android source code and docs, in theory it should enable 5g NSA, but don't think anyone tested it yet.
if you're willing to experiment and you're on a 5g supported network could you try if adding this to the xml file see if it enables 5g?

CODE
<int-array name="carrier_nr_availabilities_int_array" num="1">
<item value="1" />
</int-array>

if the key already exist in the xml file then you should replace it.

Thanks, will give it a go, though I doubt I can test properly as I am on Maxis, and don't think they have rolled out 5G yet. Still, I don't see the harm in putting in that line.

Just make sure you don't enable 5G yet as it might consume battery while searching for 5G signal.
If you already put in the line, can you check what's the "NR Available (NSA)" field status in *#*#4636#*#*
*
Just checked. Mine says NSA field status as false. Not sure if this means the XML hack isn't working or it's due to me using maxis

Could be missing something else in the xml, will investigate further. Thanks for getting back to me!

No problem! Thanks for your hard work too. Just to clarify I don't use any other modules except for the XML hack

as of now i use xml hack + network guru this leads to my vowifi sometime work and dont

Using just XML I still get vowifi.
Yeah, maxis still no 5g hence maybe it could be affecting the hack? But I ordered a YES 5g sim pack already. Will test when I get it

Does anyone notice this battery usage by the "Messages" app? Almost every one of the 2-hour period column will show the app running 2 hours straight.

It is a noticeable drain on the battery.

I myself not using the app eventhough I have set up the phone (still waiting for a casing to arrive).

I have also declined to set up RCS everytime prompted.

*
That's odd, I don't face this problem. Did you try clearing cache and/or storage and see if it clears up? I even restored my old SMSs into the phone but no wakelock like yours.

Anyone can advise best reseller to get a Pixel 7 Pro? Seeing too many and getting confused.

Amaboxly worth getting from? Cheapest out there but warranty bit tough as we manage ourselves although they claim can send to SG for US unit.

I got mine from Amazon Germany; funny thing is it was cheaper buying the phone with a case than just the phone itself. If local resellers, my only experience is with Shirogawa. Bought a few pixels from him before and his track record so far is very good. Hope this helps

do test it when u have the sim

Got my YES 5g sim pack! But i would try later until another XML hack comes along as I only have 1 month free usage before I have to pay, so I won't activate first.

For those with an unlocked bootloader, Google pay won't work, at least on an unrooted Nov stable build for the GP7 pro. But funny thing is, on the Android 13 QPR Beta, it can be set up and works. Just tried it this morning.

And the beta also has the clear calling feature, but that should come out in a stable build soon i suppose.

Still don't have 5g on my Pixel 7 (non-pro), using hotlink postpaid.

Did you subscribe to 5G via the hotlink app? I believe 5G is not an automatic given unless you are subscribed to their new 5G packages. If you are an older/legacy user like me, then you would have to subscribe to 5G via the app
