ONLY WAY TO HAVE AN SIM-LOCK FREE IPHONE WITH 1.1.1

1. need to istall iphone SIM free software 1.6 (75$ Doller) and run over the phone(1.0.2) without the sim inside!
2. Upgrade to 1.1.1
3. Activate the phone over iTunes with your AT&T contract
4. Install the neu Jailbreak
5. Install "Installer.app"
6. Install iPhone SIM free again and let it unlock the phone!

WITHOUT this software and infos you cant have an unlock iphone with 1.1.1

Thanks to a great find by KMAC, WE ARE NOW ABLE TO DOWNGRADE OUR PHONES!!!! I just wanted to make a simple guide for people with PC's to follow

Start iTunes and plug in your 1.1.1 phone

In 1.1.1, hold Power and Home buttons and count 10 seconds (your phone will turn off, just keep counting), release the power button but continue to hold the home button until your phone is recognized by iTunes. (phone screen will be blank)

A message will pop up and ask you to restore your iPhone. Holding down the SHIFT key, click on the restore button. Navigate to your 1.0.2 software

Begin restoring...

When it's done, you will get an ERROR, click OK. Your phone should show a yellow triangle. Leave iTunes running and run AppTap.

AppTap might encounter an error as well, however, it will bring your phone to the Activation screen. Once again, start iTunes, ignore all messages from it, and run AppTap. Now it will jailbreak your phone and install Installer. (You may have to retsart your PC after arriving at the activation screen if iTunes isn't recognizing your phone)

Simply use iASign or whatever you use to bypass activation.

Your phone is now back to 1.0.2.

(I am using iTunes 7.4.3.1)

WI-FI, calls, everything fully functional!

Change system locale to zh_CN

The iPhone comes with the default system locale setting to en_US, to setup another locale for the system (eg, zh_CN), edit the following property list file:

/var/root/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist

Change 'AppleLocale' string to zh_CN, then move the zh_CN to the first place in the 'AppleLanguages' array.

Reboot iPhone, the iPhone will default to zh_CN.

To make a localized version of application, simply copy its English.lproj to zh_CN.lproj, and translate the .strings into Chinese.

Yes, this has been a sore point. It only works with headsets now.

The good news is apparently this isn't a hardware limitation, it's a software issue. The built in OSX can't handle anything beyond headsets but the bluetooth hardware itself is capable. Eventually Apple will come to their senses and update it but for now, we're stuck.
