yeah i do have the icloud subscription but sharing with another 6 people so it's about 300GB per pax. hahaha..
Google Photos are really nice cause they come with all the editing features and they will even make memories and whatnot. And it's easier to search. Dont' know about the icloud photos backup though...
*
if you ask me, the only thing Google Photos does better is the editing features, plus better shared albums with Android friends/family. if you don't have a strong preference for those, then I suggest you use iCloud Photos.

iCloud Photos backup are the most seamless - I don't even have to open app to do it, or wait for WiFi, or leave my phone charging now. (all photos auto backed up all the time as I capture them). also, Photos app have memories feature too (no subscription needed)

if you prefer to use Spotify/YT Music and don't watch Apple TV, just keep iCloud+ on it's own

if you use Apple Music, then Apple One Ultimate plan is no brainer. RM 80 per month gives 5 people shared 2 TB storage plus Apple Music plus other subs like Apple TV/Arcade/Fitness also

Any limitation of USB C to USB A cable if use on iPhone 15 series? Are all the USB C to USB A cable able to use for transfer data/sync with iTune?
*
if you get a USB 3.1 rated A-to-C cable, you should still be able to get the 20x faster data transfer rate (10Gbps) on 15 Pro/Max models. but if it doesn't say specifically USB 3.1 (or above) or you're not using Pro/Max models, you'll be stuck on USB 2.0 data transfer rate (0.5Gbps) which is same speed as Lightning

also need to keep in mind that any A-to-C cable will have limitation in terms of charging speed (only 5W 7.5W). iPhones only do fast charge (up to 30W 27W) using C-to-C cable

if you want best of both worlds, get a USB3.2 rated C-to-C cable like this one from Orico

Not all USB A-to-C is limited to 5W. There are different power outputs and you can easily find good quality 3A 18W or 6A 100W type C cables.

Again the power output also depends on the adapter you are using and AFAIK iPhone 15 Pro Max max out around 25W.

iPhone only supports fast charging over the USB Power Delivery specification (which requires a USB-C port at the charger end). Source from Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-my/102574

Is there a limit from the iPhone itself in terms of power it can deliver if use on non-usb c charger? For example, if charge with powerbank/car charger/ android 18w usb a charger.
*
QUOTE(stxksy @ Apr 1 2024, 09:03 AM)
If you have a usb A-to-C cable, it is probably 15W, meaning it will charge at whatever speed your power input is up to 15W but it can't deliver more power than that.
*
I did some research on this:

just like A-to-Lightning before, A-to-C is limited to 7.5W. This is because Apple implemented the USB Battery Charging (BC) 1.2 spec, which is limited to 7.5W.

Then from iPhone X onwards, Apple started to also implement the USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 spec. even though the PD 3.0 spec supports higher (up to 100W), Apple has set the max charge rate at 27W

Thank you for this info. In this case A to C cable has the same speed as Qi wireless charger. I think I might still get a usb a to c cable just to use my old charging infrastructure sometimes.
One thing though, I don't find any MFI cable for usb a to c.
*
For USB-C accessories, it's best to look for a "USB-IF certified" logo or label in the product listing- meaning the accessory's design is certified correct by the authority that governs the USB standard: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/2021...er-Rating-Logos

Example is this Belkin BoostCharge A-to-C cable: https://www.harveynorman.com.my/smart-tech-...able-white.html

I dont get it. Why they scared of Apple Store..?
The other things is...HOW MUCH MARGAIN THEY MADE EVEN CHEAPER RM1K
*
probably because people would rather buy from Apple directly, since after sales service will be better? not to mention that the Apple Online Store now allows CC installments and trade ins also

Can the batt widget on iPhone display batt level on iPad/Macbook and vice versa?
And not only the accessories connected to it
*
Nope, only accessories connected to that specific device.

FWIW, the last time I sent in my iPhone 13 for service at official AASP, there was a SenHeng person dropping a bunch of iPhones there also for warranty claims.

so it seems the 2nd year warranty is still legitimate repairs. and i don't think an official reseller like them are allowed to send phones to unauthorised service providers lol

I've been using umobile postpaid RM68 plan for many years now. Thinking of getting the 512gb iphone15 pro max.

Is there a catch? So I'm paying RM6247 for just the phone (that would've cost me RM7500 if I buy outright from an Apple store)? How are they able to offer me RM1200+ discount on the phone?

I mean, I'm already using the RM68 postpaid plan for many years, using the same data plan for another 2 years as per the device contract isn't a big deal at all.
*
it's less actually. the fees are refunded over 2 years, because there is a 2 year contract attached to that promo price where you agree to stay with Umobile for those 2 years. Meaning if you want to change telco before 2 years is up, you'll need to pay (7500-5699) / 24 * (remaining months in contract)

also i recommend you wait 1-2 months, since 16 coming out soon. they will reduce price some more then. so you can either get new phone with more features for same price or you can decide to save money and just go with 15.

Is the black lens protector plateau separate from the case or is it fused together? Because could be good for caseless phones, can lay flat on table hahah

Anybody have problem making calls? Whenever I call another Maxis number , it will auto disconnect on 32seconds

This doesn't happen if I call a Digi or Umobile number. I am using Maxis btw

And if other people call me, it doesn't disconnect

I have tried restarting the phone but it still happens right on 32seconds
