Aula new trimode cast aluminium 75% with hot-swappable knob Fire-75 to be release soon.

Estimated to be around 200RMB, seem to have better value than Hi75. Leobog would compete for this price bracket with the upcoming Hi8 SE.

Only 4 colors available for release, blue is prototype shown at expo few days ago

Great choice, those keycaps are cute  biggrin.gif  What switches did you go for?

KAM profile blank glossy caps, main reason I bought this was because it has a lot of different space sizes.

I go for leobog juggle v2 tactile switch, and extra purchase greywood v3,
the juggle switch is surprising thockier then greywood v3. but.... tactile switch i think not my preference, very annoying to use, feel kinda stuck. so I have put greywood for now.
The aluminium case, well finish, better finish then monsgeek m1(v1) for sure, but the M1 is far far far heavier then hi75.
yes the keycaps is cute, smooth AF, thick wall also but, cause the keycap not enough curve as cherry or oem profile, very easily wrong press. still prefer cherry profile for gaming.
overall, very statisfy with this keyboard consider how affordable it is.

Same here, I can never use tactile. I like XDA or any profile with the same height as I can just swap the keys around and not having to worry if the set have the addon I need. I am tempted to try those keycaps with cat ears lol.

Oh yeah if you don't need wireless, it's def the budget board to go for. I have a white one otw too with white knob cover, shame that the led inside is red.

Not sure how I feel about the silver plate but I would be trying to go for the cheapest build with clearance keycap set. MZ Z1 switch (RM40.27 for 90) with either only the white keys of the XDA bee (Rm6.50) or XDA hamster (RM12.50).
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*
maybe go for the XDA hamster if u dont have animal keyboard yet haha.
u mean RM12.50 for whole set of keycaps? dayum that is cheap, got link to share?
MZ Z1 seems nice, i found out that the top housing if non transparent will be thockier then the transparent one.

I think so too since some contrast could look better than pure white. They are from Taobao and most set are out of stock already.

Z1 is pretty good considering the price, they call it the 60 cent god of war.

But now like not much choice already, if you want to buy with sea shipping is damn cheap. The only issue is need 5kg min for my particular forwarder, or you could pick up at their warehouse for RM3.50/1kg.

1 set is less than 400g so 0.4*RM4 per kg=RM1.60 shipping

The hardest part is waiting 10 days for it to arrive
*
since it is that cheap, i am ok to take the whole collection one, maybe can over 5kg, haha. hit me out if u think want to group buy. I am in melaka one, so may need u to help me ship out for me icon_idea.gif

What has been upgraded in Hi8SE? Come and have a sneak peek
What exactly have we improved from Hi8 to Hi8 Special Edition?

5 major improvements:
1. Top frame mount (Plate gasket would be mounted on upper case instead of bottom)
2. Double-sided magnetic decorative plate on the back instead of the ugly dragon logo
3. Optimize the internal wiring layout
4. Knob with stages like Hi75 instead of smooth like on Hi8
5. Moved the wireless antenna position (Remove the need for the hole + acrylic cover)

I having an eye on womier RD75 and Mchose GX87 ultra, the ball catch system i think should be on all the custom board, the screw in a lot of other board is so easy to get stripped. my M1 ady stripped.

tecware i got consider my first budget mech. poor experience actually.
it cant even use wet tissue to clean its 'coated' paint. will peel off lol

and use red outemu ...you know how the typing experience and easy double press. doh.gif
*
same, my 1st mech keyboard i bought is Phillips keyboard buy for less then RM100 full size with blue switch, fews year ady, double press on Y key, Uneven LED
lighting, some dead LED, stablizer rattle as hell, the paint got this weird black spoting i dont even know what happen. it is non hot swap so, cant do anything about it. so bring for office use haha.
But since custom keyboard popularity rising we can get a fantastic keeb for a very afforable price. we have come a long way.

Just some shiny PBT keycaps, mainly gotten it for the spacebars and uniform profile

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09....=h20asbo3m59f0a

The hottest switch right now. The second restock was like 2 weeks ago, 500k switches gone within seconds. Which is understandable as it's considered as the budget Vertex V1 that doesn't require hand lube and spring switch.

I like when the switches come well lubed from factory. and the price also reasonable. i thinking to get a few cherry profile keycaps set and switches.

Any good mkb reco?

Something like rk s98. Full layout

My concern with rk is I heard the battery is fast drain and very long to charge. Is that true?

Also should I be concerned firmware is close source for firmware? Or m I being necessarily paranoid.

Put and alu metallic casing would be nice though not a must.

Req, doubles shots and brown switches. I'm OK with my cherry brown clones similar to rk as long as it's good.

Budget rm 300 roughly. Don't want to spend more preferably

try aula F99, more then double the battery capacity compare to S98

Anyway I ordered aula f99 Grey.

Linear isn't exactly my favorite vs brown tactile but I'll give it a try. At least it isn't blue clicky which i can't stand

I'm not too fussed about knobs and led screen. I can simply change in ui setting. I also don't do macro so I don't think that will be major issue for me

Hope it's aluminium plate but if not I'll live. No big deal

The keychron cost double and didn't like the look.

Paid 209 roughly, feels like a good deal for not a perfect mkb but quite good for the price. Will post review when I get it.

I'm mostly willing to make some compromise because of the price. At least the keycaps r put full double shot which is nice for this price. Color scheme is decent to my taste.

The reviewer said switch is not the best, will see. I probly won't be fussy about that but will see

Expect battery last 5 - 10 year. For the price it's low risk so not too worried if it doesn't get that far
*
if refering to the review,he is using reaper switch, the one u order i believe is greywood v3, which is a very popular budget switch because super afforable and thocc in stock form. they also come prelube.

Actually i also used to like cherry brown (tactile) but after bombard by market with a ton of linear switch, and now i am a converted. I cant used any tactile switch anymore, they all feel something stuck when i press. I actually got a left over leobog building block tactile switch when i brought my Hi75. i can sell u if u want tongue.gif tongue.gif although not sure if the quantity is enough for your F99.

i am very glad to see now these day wireless custom machanical keyboard can get in such a afforable price, compare to last time big gaming company charging more then RM600 for wireless feature and not a good keycaps, non hotswap switches to begin with.

Oof it's alrite ty. I don't rely do much switch modding though this mkb can do that. But ty though.

The reason I like tactile, I have a tendency to lightly rest my finger tips on keycaps. With linear u may be more prone to actuation keys.

Also as for typing I'm not one for bottoming out aka full press. But for gamers this is good.

Will see. Haven't used linear for ages maybe I will have change of heart.

What is the f99 switch though? Another mx cherry clone? Not familiar. All i know it's linear. Is it suppose to be something like cherry mx red? Sorry I'm outdated. So many new switches these days, can't keep up đŸ˜†

Yeah, imagine back in the day Logitech wanted to charge more than 200 for a rubber dome keyboard with bad led lighting. Crazy how far we have come. So many choices, good deals, improved quality

And yes being bombarded with linear switch options is a very apt description. I caved cauz it was the only option for f99. Hopefully I don't regret.

As long as it's not black or blue switch I'll probly be fine
*
Be prepare for the typo, u may found frustrating at first, might take time to getting used to it but, you will be fine.
eh... in this day and age, cant say it is clone of a cherry MX anymore, because almost any other switches will be better then cherry mx's after u experience other modern switch. And dont know if u realize or not, not much big company taking cherry mx switches anymore.
Anyway, do give us some though after u received ur new keyboard. positive or negative, i am happily to read it =)

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Oct 28 2024, 03:46 PM)
just received it.

wow... the switches are nice.

lightly resting fingertips above is ok, as long as u dont press. i don't i just lightly hover on it.

not sure if this is aluminium plate, but the keyboard is hefty enough to stay in place without sliding all over.

there is some flex when typing but very slight that i barely notice. it's only when you force press that you will notice the flex. not an issue for me.
blue tooth was easily detectable. just worked without issue. didn't have to install anything though i probably should. i don't plan to do any macro so maybe not needed. for changing the led lighting can just use the function key combo.

the cardboard with instructions was quite useful and explains everything quite clearly about how to use this mkb at a glance.

i didnt test wifi 2.4 since bluetooth works and uses less power.

heard this mkb does not have stabilizers? but i tested the spacebar and the bigger keys, but did not notice any issues?

i see that there are many lighting options. though tbh i'm confused which i like best  sweat.gif  i went with the lighting mode which appears as you type. so when you are not typing there is no lighting. seems to be a balance between saving battery and still enjoying a led experience.
the leg stands click in place and seem sturdy, NOT flimsy, unlike my previous mkb.

The I/O is well placed at the back, whereas my previous MKB I/O was a bit sloopy and hurt the wired cable. Basically mkbs have a lot of polish these days compared to prior mkbs (like my old one).

i cannot stress enough how amazing these keycaps are. PBT doubleshot (not the bad kind. if you check underneath, it's the FULL doubleshot done right).

The F99 i got does not have see through keycaps. If you want that, i heard the F99 pro has a knob AND see through keycaps. Tbh i don't feel i need those things, so i rather save money and get this.

it has numpad which i use. but it's not exactly the full layout, it's the smaller one e.g. the 0 on numpad is small not big. It's not an issue for me. And compared to my old mkb, it's width is shorter but not in a bad way, feels much nicer at this size. If you are like me and want a numpad mkb, this one works fine (UNLESS you are bothered by the small 0 on numpad)

My only regret, is not ordering this a day later. Why? because shopee had a Rm50+ discount RIGHT AFTER i had ordered  doh.gif  I always get unlucky missing out on the discounts.

If you are in the market for a new mkb i strongly recommend this one.

but keep in mind, my preferences may not be same as yours

- it's not full solid alu casing (though it feels good enough to me tbh. and it's hefty not to shift while typing)
- no knob. no lcd screen. i don't particularly care, but some might. If you get the f99 pro they have a knob, though they don't have a lcd screen, but the royal kludge S98 does for an almost same price point.
- no tactile option. if you must have tactile, then this is no the mkb for you. OR, you could simply swap out the switches for tactile. But by default there are no tactile options. So you have to buy the switches separately. Also this mkb makes it easy to change switches, and comes with a convenient and solid keycap switcher (not the bad kind)
i would rate this mkb

9/10 for overall ratings
10/10 for value (best bang for buck). Seriously, you don't need to spend RM 600-800 for a MKB. This RM 200 mkb does quite well (heck, you can get a discount on shopee flash sale which i sadly missed for an even lower price)

but in terms of bang for buck for a cheap budget mkb for a great price/steal, i rate this mkb highly. maybe there are better options out there, but i fail to see how they can beat this.

the closest i saw was a RK S98, but that had a crappy lithium battery, though it does come with a knob and lcd screen. I did handle a RK in passing when gifting to a friend, so i have an idea what a RK is like. It's nice, but i won't lose sleep over not having the knob or lcd. But i won't blame others that need that, it is nice but it's not a must for me.
9/10 aesthetic (i got the grey layout color scheme. i like it though others may have different taste. the led seems nice as well, but it doesn't have see through caps, i don't mind, but some may be fussy about that.)
10/10 keycaps. well made pbt doubleshots. it's hard to top that tbh.
8.5/10 casing build. though i gave this a lower score, it's understandable seeing as it's not a full body aluminium. instead i think it's abs. but that said, it's well made, that i don't have an issue with that, especially at this stellar budget price point, can't complain. not to mention the feet stands are well done. the IO and the 2.4 wifi/buetooth toggle is well placed in a neat cutout on the rear.
PS: i did not touch the aula software yet. but based on youtube it's not that great in particular for users that want to setup macros. I don't so for me it's not going to be an issue. but i did not rate it yet since i did not use it yet, to be fair.
*
Good to hear u enjoy it,
i believe the one u receive is PC plate, not aluminium. the case it self is plastic, u feel the heft cause got silicon filled inside.
They definitely have stabilizer at space bar, enter shift, backspace.
Very sad to hear that u miss ur RM50 discount=( that is 25% off, but no matter u got the discount or not, they do worth it.

can u see ur self enter a keyboard hobby? maybe u want to try out aluminium case one, do a foamless mod on keyboard or upgrade ur keycaps to a ceramic one XD
