I replaced my 6 year old Corsair K65 with a Keychron V1 recently while done some researching over the holidays.
Gotta say this hobby is fun and rewarding, also seems not too costly nowadays. Kind of relaxing to mod boards while listen to youtube/podcast.
Was at MKB store the other day (not opening) and the store was packed!
Well most of them pick up the expensive hobby most likely during MCO ... like i did hahaha but anyway it is nice to have this hobby and experiment with all sort of things
Ok let me tell you my boring story ... i went for RK61 it was a good keebs like it then i went for epomaker still the same form factor like RK and plastic but better in term of build and gasket and with mods. Then i went for Q1 full alu and boy this is another level of keebs Did some minor mod since the previous owner have done the full mod to the keebs ... my mod usually will be on the switches only since i like frankenswitch.
Well as said by the other sifus it come back to your preference, havent try any o ring mod .. maybe if have time will try as i would like to try that too
well keychron is good as entry level compare to the QK series or the other high ends one like RAMA etc maybe u can go try hands on at MKB store or another one in sunway i think

Just to put out some budget new models to consider..
1. Tecware Phantom+ Elite is new sleek looking a 3 mode, hotswap TKL board, almost Drop like for RM300ish
2. GMK67 is a barebones gasket mount 3 mode, 65% board, RM200ish. Apparently Epomaker use this to create another model of their own while charging more.
jwick series is affordable and good in general (black, ultimate black, white, red, and yellow; i have tested all of them
Not to promo the store but seems the price is affordable.. if u buy online plus the shipping fee well it is a bit cheaper at the store for the switches lah
as long as the price is reasonable, and it's available locally, just get it.
i get stuff from else where mainly because: 1. they are not available locally; 2. local price is not reasonable; and 3. the possibility to consolidate shipping.
in my case, usually no. 1 predominates.
Agree some can't get locally so go to next best thing
I think aesthetic is very important in a keyboard too. The Q1 looks a bit too plain imo. I like the side brass accent or side lightning on the Monsgeek/GMMK pro.
cant say ... some people like it minimalist ... i do like my Q1 white some more hahaha ... looking forward to Oneplus one later this week to be release
