QUOTE(shishkebab @ Mar 31 2023, 07:48 AM) Hi guys, im writing this inside my car on a highway just to help others who’s looking to know how does it perform and not doing the same mistake as me. you might want to check the wheel bearings before changing the tayar. damaged bearing can cause loud humming sound, it gets louder if you go faster.Well.. with a bit of regret, Continental UC7 is the noisiest tyre i had ever used the sound rating for this one is like 9/10 noisiest. I used cpc2 before and thought that was noisy too but this new fella supposedly with new n improve thread is better but it is NOT! My head hurts from the loud bass humming inside the car coming from the tyres, i thought only when driving slow it’s noisy… lo and behold! the faster u drive the worst they get. I cranked up my music also tak boleh counter weh!!! Grip is good but doesnt compensate with the sound it produce! My biggest regret is this. RM320 for each too! Should have gotten me a bloody falken which is far more quieter! TLDR: Everyday you drive the tyres will remind you of your disappointment in loud humming ambience almost mocking you to eternity. Anyone knows if tyre shop allow for exchange? if bearings are OK, tayar shop will consider exchange like trade in. meaning you will lose out a bit of $$$ even if your tayar is relatively new. |

QUOTE(moto-moto @ Nov 15 2023, 09:54 PM) I just moved from Primacy 4 to UC7 (215/45R17). Result may vary depending on size. What I can say, both tayar are quite close. I bought UC7 with big CNY discount from Conti shop so it works out around rm244/piece (that's roughly RM200/pc cheaper compared to Primacy 4 at current market price!).UC7 has low noise, very close to Primacy 4. Comfort-wise is close too, but Primacy 4 feels a bit plusher and more premium while UC7 is a bit sportier but still smooth. In wet, UC7 feels like in the dry and I got to test its hydroplane and it is very good. Though I feel Primacy 4 has slight edge (very small difference). Primacy 4 can last 60k km (at least on my car and the way I drive), so I hope UC7 can last as long. Overall, I'm happy with UC7 as it can go toe-to-toe with Primacy 4. Recommended. I'm not fond of the diamond logo but since the sidewall is low profile, the diamond is not that obvious |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Feb 2 2024, 09:45 AM) May I ask in terms of steering feedback and sharpness, is there a difference between the Primacy 4 and UC7 and if yes which is better? When you turn the steering wheel, you feel the vehicle respond better and more accurately as opposed to a looser feel ie. not very accurate. I would say UC7 feels sharper, but not by much. overall UC7 feels sportier (for a touring tayar) while Primacy 4 feels more plush and premium. SportyHandling liked this post

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Feb 2 2024, 12:43 PM) Thanks. Good to know that the UC7 is not only close to Primacy 4 in quietness but also feels slightly sharper or with almost same steering feel and performance. I've used Primary 3ST long time ago and it's a good tyre in terms of handling and low noise, more than 10 years ago but have not chosen Michelin since then since the price is always higher when compared to other alternatives which also provide good performance and value. I never tried PS5 but used PS4 before. I can say PS series have one of the lowest noise for a performance tyre category, but cannot rival the quietness of a comfort-biased/touring tyre.My vehicle is on UC6 and on a Youtube review of that same vehicle on UC6 it was mentioned that the tyres are crap in handling and noise when he drove up to Genting Highlands. The guy who commented that the UC6 is crap has the Michelin PS5 on the vehicle, reported to have much improved handling and lower noise, a remark that is contradictory since a good handling/performance tyre usually has higher noise although I know that some will have the best of both worlds, usually costly. Primacy 3ST was excellent, i liked it. Primacy 4 is a bit better especially in dry handling. On 215/45R17, it was great but my experience on 235/55R17 is so-so. Given the price jump of Primacy 4 is quite significant, UC7 proves to be a much more sensible choice - you'll get a similar performance but at a much lower price. I never tried UC6 but based on reviews, UC7 is better in nearly all aspects. SportyHandling liked this post

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Feb 2 2024, 02:29 PM) By the way, do you have experience with Ultra Racing strut bars? It's another topic but thought of posting a new thread on this later. strut bars? most modern road cars don't require that. it only will benefit you if you drive the car to its limit. anti-roll bar / sway bar will give more impact in handling. handling sifus can give better insight into the dark art of handling The guy on Youtube also installed some Super Circuit bars on the car apart from changing the tyres from 16" to 17" Michelin PS5 for improved handling of the car. |
