OK, I don't know about you guys, but I use Maxis Business Fibre for my Internet because it was cheap (obviously). Recently come across something I find ridiculous on my Maxis bill. Something like this

user posted image

And the strange part is that I never subscribed to any of them. Then I realized that my office number has been receiving SMS about these subscriptions non-stop and I have been paying them without realizing what the hell they were over the months.

Texts like:-

"RM5. Linguisto renewed. Next renewal on 18/08/2022. Learn now http://maxis.linguistofi.com/ .To cancel, send STOP LEARN to 23283"

How I found out about this is that my accounts department started realizing that the bills are increasing in price and they have no idea why, so we dug through the bills and found these nonsense. We called in to ask for waives and to block these services to no avail, the worst part is that when we request to stop these services, they still charge us.

So my question is as follows:-

1. Is this even legal?
2. Is there a class action lawsuit out there suing Maxis for these things?

I believe a lot of people will see this as using good money to chase bad money, but I think that it is highly stressful, and downright saddening for Maxis customers to see their bills racked up sky high over these kind of bullshit. It is unethically unwelcomed, and obscure to the point of fraud.

I may be the only one feeling like this, but I do appreciate some input as to how to go about dealing with something like this because I find it insensible to pay for something I did not ask for.

Regards.

Services that I got charged for as below:-

6/2022

23283|Linguisto_WAP_23283 (RM5.00)
24962|AIRG_WAP 24962 (RM3.00)
22326|Games2u_WAP (RM2.00)
23283|Linguisto_WAP_23283 (RM5.00)

23283|Linguisto_WAP_23283 (RM5.00)

hello TS, my mum was a recent victim of Hotlink postpaid where she was billed rm93 for a scam IDD call (she never made the call to that so-called no. yet it actually appeared on her device's call log). suspect that the rep from the maxis branch in alor setar she registered with could have duplicated her sim card then charged that to her account.

long story short, i managed to MNP her to another telco. but not without maxis attempting to botch her MNP requests repeatedly over the course of almost a month. it was a lot of back n forth between their cheating minions in their CS team and relentlessly CC-ing MCMC in all the emails. i would advise that you first lodge a report formally to their Maxis CS team for them to open an investigation, and lodge a report to MCMC (https://aduan.skmm.gov.my/Complaint/AddComplaint?NOSP=1) as well. submit and attach all the evidence in your MCMC report, rajin2 check the report page and keep posting your comments and updates there. when the maxis minions email you, quote them your MCMC report number and CC every email communication/reply to these maxis minions to the MCMC aduan email (aduanskmm@mcmc.gov.my).

it is well stressful but very worth it to gtfo from maxis. fyi, their crap business package solutions arent at all cheap. even if it still is to you, it contains all these cheap shot shit to rip you off without you realising it. i hope you are making arrangements to terminate your subscription with them and get onto another ISP.

MAXIS MUST DIE.

Funny story, I am under contract, but I told them I refuse to pay because of the following:-

1. They delayed my relocation for more than 1 month.
2. These additional charges.
3. They never updated me on anything with regards to my relocation even though I called/emailed/went to their centers to complain.

I am with UNIFI now, I hope its good.

Did you manage to find out which particular bloatware app that caused this? All my family members are using Xiaomi, quite worried if there are rogue subscriptions running in the background to lead into this shocking.gif

Luckily Maxis is NOT the cheapest around. Their services are worse than TM or U Mobile.

Right before MCO, I MNP my family lines out to U Mobile. Cheaper but adequate service. Instead of paying RM 550 for 5 lines, I know pay RM 200 for 5 lines with the same data quota. For fiber, I waited till the contract expired and migrated to Celcom Fiber.

Considering this way, I have been with Maxis from the beginning in 1995. Up or down, I still chose this service. However, starting in 2019, their service deteriorated to the point of no return. In places where U Mobile has coverage, Maxis only 1 bar or none at all.

For the fiber service, they demanded back the router after the contract expired. Even charge for any missing components like AC adapter or antenna. How cheapskate and petty can they get?

Will I ever move back to Maxis? Nope. Even Astro I also terminated. No more Maxis-related services and offers.

I agree, I have already unsubbed from Maxis Home, and now using Celcom, the Maxis Business Fibre one I actually kept only because of the contract. But now I have legitimate reason to request for cancel, but I seriously want to believe they can still give good service, I really do. Alas, facts are facts.

I am on my Maxis Family Plan with 4 postpaid unlimited lines including a 30mbps fibre service (But due to no fibre coverage in my area, they gave me a Sim card router). At the start, the internet was really terrible in my area due to the wireless connection. After months of complaints through maxis and MCMC, they finally fixed the issue of slow connection in my area. I can have more than an average of 50mbps in the morning and afternoon, at night might be decreased to an average of 40mbps but after 11 I can get up to an average of 100mbps. They are suck at fixing things but they do fix things just very slow. I have been a maxis customer for more than 15 years since my parent start using Maxis, but in 2020 I try to switch to Umobile for the cheap price but the line in my area really sucks then end up changing back to Maxis family plan which is kinda cheap at 299 excluding tax.

Okay let's go back to the title, I am also having the problem of random charging like RM5. Linguisto renewed, a few months back. I thought it was my own mistake subscribing to this kind of service then I just ignored it. But seem like that wasn't my mistake dry.gif .

One more thing I am moving soon, the new house has fibre service, should I keep using the Maxis family plan with the fibre service? Or Unifi? Only these two services are available in that area.

Their postpaid credit billing system have loopholes allowing scammers to bill purchases to their credit limit.

Very risky when you allow your customers credit limit to be billed for 3rd party services and purchases. Not sure if it's the content providers using the loopholes to cheat public money or there's hidden collaboration between both sides of the telco and the content providers to play dumb against the public.

I do believe that this is highly unethical, hence the reason I wanted to know if there are people suing Maxis for this. This annoyance, in a long run, if not made an example of, can lead to the complacency and degradation of ISP's quality of service.

We as customers pay our due to get shit service seems to me to be the gravest injustice.

> BUSINESS fibre

> got charged for content subscription

those 2 facts alone are already incompatible with each other. are you being charged for breaches by undetermined staff and/or customers logged on to your premise' network?

i remember last time, for example, iflix got this "issue" where it automatically start billing through whatever mobile ISP you happened to be using, without asking for your payment preference. it became a nuisance. i can imagine how frustrating when random strangers browsing on your network lands you into billing disputes.
