QUOTE(Giggg_00 @ Aug 10 2022, 06:50 PM) Additional discounts to lure you to use BNPLQUOTE(Giggg_00 @ Aug 11 2022, 06:55 AM) But cc got interest rate right? Cause bnpl if only use their default instalment plan which is 3 or 4 months we don't have to pay interest rate tho 3-4 months of interest saving is negligible vs the amount of interest you have to pay if you memory leak. If it's a cheap item, even more unworthy of my time just to save a few $. For example, Spay Later's $50-5 vouchers.Web search : QUOTE SpayLater has a processing fee of 0-2% per transaction amount and monthly interest ranges from 1-5% for items. That's higher than Credit Card. |

QUOTE(beLIEve @ Aug 11 2022, 08:36 AM) Additional discounts to lure you to use BNPL I see, how about e-wallet services like TNG? cause it's quite convenient and I feel like a lot of people using it nowadays, what do you think about it?3-4 months of interest saving is negligible vs the amount of interest you have to pay if you memory leak. QUOTE(beLIEve @ Aug 12 2022, 12:30 PM) i'm only using ewallets because got promo/discounts. Otherwise I'll pick the fastest one, which is TNG. Yeah, but even bnpl nowadays also got promo/discounts, benefits to Debit Card users tho cause not all people can apply for cc. I also think TNG is one of the fastest payment options now, but this also means that lesser people will carry cash around with them haha |

QUOTE(Michael12345678 @ Jun 7 2023, 03:16 AM) Not true for some of the people. Sometimes we just want to stretch the ringgit. Who doesnt want 0% interest free loan whatever the amount? Basically a debt trap if you can’t afford to buy it outright 🤦♀️ instalment is not a stretch but trap to get you more in debt |

For me zero interest instalment is a stretch. Imagine you buy RM12000 item and only pay RM1000 per mth for 12 mths. RM11k just put into FD @4% for just 6mths (you will earn RM220 already). Alternatively can also put into flexi home loan to knock off principal. If you dont opt of installment, then you have to pay the RM12k either immediately or in one mth time (assuming using credit card). If you cant afford to pay , then of course dont buy la. |

You think BNPL bother whether you can afford or not 🤦♀️ which is why many getting into debt trap and a lot of countries are starting to regulate it unlike useless BNM 🤦♀️ which are they not doing anything and not managing RM prudently If you dont opt of installment, then you have to pay the RM12k either immediately or in one mth time (assuming using credit card). My simple mind tells me if I want to buy something, and if I can choose to pay in full immediately OR pay in 6 months with ZERO interest, I will always choose the latter. It’s like getting an interest free short term loan. The so called 4% is only happening at this moment 🤦♀️ and not always will be as BNPL will only works in high interest environment I see a lot of benefits n zero threats. It’s like credit card, some ppl think it’s a debt trap, but I see lots of advantages n in fact can get cash rebates/discount on the items I buy vs if pay by cash. Kinda depends on what you want to buy - certain shops and if there's an in-app promo/voucher I can use at the time of transaction, sure. If the merchant only has certain bank punya terminal for CC instalment that you don't have (but inexplicably got Atome)... 4 digit service packages, devices, etc - no; that one gotta use CC instalment that's longer than 3 months already. Only used Atome, which seems to be the biggest player here at the moment. Would use it more if it had Amex support, but oh wells. I try not to use it willy nilly. Also, the payments are automatically deducted from your added credit/debit card on the due date, just FYI. BenChiew liked this post
