which one is better?

i've tried it but can tell me in what sense this JKDefrag is better? I can only say that this program is faster than the normal 1.

i am using the first 1.it will auto update when there is a new version and will defrag when screensaver running

can i noe the automatic defragment of diskeeper really hurts the hardisk???
it will wear out the hardisk faster?
then why the diskeeper introduce such function and is still get nice response?

i also suspect sometimes...i defrag kinda very often...and i guess maybe this is one of the reason that i kena the windows error blue screen...despite i do downloading awys also...

-Hmm, you can refer the FAQs (answered by JKDefrag author himself) on the JkDefrag main page. Also, here's what Executive Software said about that : http://www.diskeeper.com/diskeeper/myths/hard-drive-wear.asp.

-I'm pointing that continuously defragmenting your harddisks in the background will wear out the disks. Why? Refer to above link (Diskeeper site); they talk about numerous disk accesses (read/write ops) required for fragmented files. Then, how about constantly defragmenting some files as they are modified? The original programs alter the specified files, then the Diskeeper touches it (to defrag) again. Doesn't that increases disk access counts? Note that this only affects files that are modified frequently, and/or change in size (getting bigger/smaller) during modifications, or different clusters being used. For static files (even they're accessed many times), this doesn't apply as Diskeeper doesn't touch them.

- Changes to the graphics routines in the Windows and screensaver versions. The screen is now updated faster and more efficiently.
- Added the "average begin-end distance" statistic to the report.
- The commandline is now scanned for the "-l" logfile option before anything is written to the logfile.
- Changed the progress counter for the Fixup phase.
- Added a second fixup phase after optimizing "-a 3" to catch files that could not be moved the first time.
- Bugfix for automatic processing of volumes that are mounted on a directory instead of a drive letter.

strongly recommend using JkDefragGUI v1.00 (updated on 1st dec, 2007), it is using jkdefrag core with nice interface and many of additional features

defragmentation increases wear and tear. not recommended to defrag too often.

How fast is fast you guys defrag? I DL JKDefragGUI and start defrag yesterday at 6pm. But now 9.45pm still defrag at 72%. Is there some problem with the pc?
And this JKDefrag can't choose the drive to defrag. Once I double click the JKDefrag, it go to C drive and defrag straight away. Am I miss something?
