hi , using x70 225/35/r19

plan to switch to r18 rims
can advice on pros and cons?
thanks

main reason to switch is due to finance long term,
thanks
*
Stock tire size should be 225/55R19 for 19 inch & 225/60R18 for 18 inch.

Downsizing rims would give you enhanced comfort, at the expense of road handling performance.

Could be cheaper as well.

I drive normally. 60% highway 40% city driving.

I prefer a mix between comfort and appropriately long mileage.

Went to TMK Rawang (Shah Alam) for those tires, although they are not the cheapest in town, service level was relatively good

Hi can I ask about UC6 19 inch tyre? I am currently driving Proton X70 CKD that's using 19 inch UC6, 3 years plus with around 30k ran. Thinking of changing tyres soon and appreciate if UC6 19 inch is the safe option or is there a cheaper/better alternative. Car uses mostly for short trips like less than 1km or around 30km to 50km. Hardly go on longer trips.

Thank you for suggestion.
*
225/55R19 size, right?

You could consider Hankook Ventus Prime 4

Is the CR1 the worst performer of the lot?
*
Most likely, you usually get what you paid for.

Toyo Proxes CR1 is essentially a successor of Toyo NanoEnergy 3, which is an Eco tire.

Proxes CR1 is claimed to reduce road noise by 11% and aquaplaning by 2% compared to the NanoEnergy 3.

So, you can figure it out it's performance.

It is basically an Eco tire, dressed up as an entry level touring tire.

*
Has the tire been losing any pressure since then?

Also, where is the location of the puncture?

Thank you for this recommendations. I thought some time to research about them and came down to these 2 final contenders

1. Michelin XM 2+ - Great all around usage and come with fuel efficiency feature but the pricing is on the high side

2. Continental UC7 - Quiet, comfortable but the fuel usage is gonna be higher.

If I'm looking for a tyre which is quiet and fuel efficiency, is there any alternative to the above
*
Toyo Proxes CR1 should fit your description.

Is the price a bargain?
Any feedback for this tyre?

It is a bargain.

Some user paid about RM725 per piece in 2022, when new.

Hi guys,

I'm driving a VW Tiguan,4motion(AWD) SUV with 235/50/R18.
Front is MC6 and rear is Hankook S1Evo3.

The S1Evo3 was newer compared to MC6, but currently it was touching the wear indicator and only managed to travel around 11k km. The wear for all tires were even. I was surprised why the S1Evo3 wear out so fast.

BTW, the S1Evo3 and MC6 Treadwear indicated as 300 and 340 respectively.

Anyway, is about time to replace the S1Evo3.
What is the next better tire or equivalent performance with S1Evo3?

UC7 is quite good in interior noise but Turanza T005A actually is just slightly better overall in noise . You can see my tire test results below

APAC Touring Test

Larger width means more noise, so what you are doing is counter productive.

Rolling resistance difference between the 2 sizes are negligible.

TS, have you heard of this Thai tire company, OTANI?

What is your opinion of the passenger car tires from this company?

FK510 out of stock already and has been replaced with FK520.
FK520 for size 235/50/R18, 1pc RM680. More expensive than S1Evo3.
Looks like S1Evo3 is the value for money tire.
*
If that is the case, you can try Maxxis Victra I-Pro.

They are also available in 235/50R18. They should be cheaper than S1Evo3. Less than RM450 per piece.

I believe Maxxis Victra I-Pro also quite short lifespan, if he is looking for budget without considering short lifespan should be no issue.

Would be better to go for HP5 from Maxxis Premitra, it beats Michelin and other big brands in term of dry & wet braking.  icon_idea.gif

You are right. However, 235/50R18 is not available for this tire. Which is a shame.

Thanks for the recommendation, I have another tire in my wishlist

Been reading some of your replies about VP4.

Need to change my civic tyres.

If UC7 is RM400 and VP4 is RM300-325, go VP4 too ?

Is it pretty much identical ?

I notice Continental on shopee has like huge discounts on UC7 making it RM400 per piece for my 215/50/17
*
I know that UC7 is better than VP3.

Considering VP4 is a huge improvement over VP3, it would be safe to assume VP4 has similar performance over UC7, albeit I'm more inclined to think that UC7 is a bit better overall.

https://klinikar.com/continental-showdown-u...e-of-two-tyres/

https://klinikar.com/title-continental-uc7-...-of-the-titans/

However, based on the price that you've mentioned, VP4 seems like the best value between the 2 tires.

225/55r19
fk510 @569

Can anyone recommend tyre shop in Klang selling Falken tyre that can get better price? Planning to change 4 pieces
*
That is consider good price dy. Nowadays 19 inch FK520 would be around RM900 per piece

I have a 2016/17 Proton Iriz and have been advised by my Proton mechanic to change my tyres as it's showing wear and it hasn't been replaced since 2020. I have not modded my car and use it mainly for city driving. Also, I don't intend to buy new rims.

1. Is there any benefit to getting bigger tyres?
2. If yes, what sizes are recommended?
3. Whether yes or no, any recommended brands I should use? I do want to keep it on a low budget.
*
What is the size of your tires?

How many inch are the wheels/rims?

The stock wheels are also not that wide. There is a limit on how much wider tires you can fit

for that price of primacy.. it is cheap..
include installation, alignment, balancing, rubber valve ?
*
If the price is for 18 inch tires, it is considerably a good deal

However, whether it is worth it or not, depends on the user.

There is a RM200 price difference per tire, as the total difference is RM800 for 4 pcs of tires.

The difference is too big to ignore the value that VP4 brings.

A much fair comparison should be between UC7 & Primacy 4, since the price is closer & performance wise should be closer as well.

Whether it is worth to fork out a bit extra over the extra performance of Primacy 4 over UC7 (comfort & competent braking performance even when worn)
