Hi all,
I'm thinking of replacing my current bike (demak 90 , lousy but faithful biggrin.gif ) .. been using it for over 8 years now.
What happen is I've changed my workplace and daily commute requires a mixture of highway and jam (for Kl-ian = it's old klang road to sprint highway to ttid to kepong).
My current bike seem to ok when in jam, but highway is abit risky (cant get above 70km/h)

With this, is 125cc bike suffice for daily point-a to point-b ? or need higher cc ?
I'm a b license, so i think my max cc is 150 only before i get saman biggrin.gif .

Thank you.

p/s : i dont have budget (now doing windows shopping before saving up money)

B2 lesen is below 250cc
if money is an issue, roadtax for bikes also may need to consider, < 150cc is RM2, > 150cc is RM30, and so on++

modern 125cc will serve you well

Anyone took up the wmoto es250i yet? The price is quite good for its displacement.

if you really using demak 90 for over 8 years, just buy any new 125cc bike you like.
my demak 150cc only can tahan 3 year for 30km everyday go to work.
recommended go for Honda Dash 125cc or Yamaha LC135, if have more budget
Honda RSX 150cc or Yamaha Y15zr.

not cannot tahan .. more toward change of work location , and now need to have highway travel.. My bike can travel, but cant go fast, so it's abit dangerous and is thinking of changing to a bigger cc bike for safety... for comparison, my highway max is 70km/h; so sometime stuck behind lorry and such and cant overtake

Depends on your budget and riding style. Most kapchai owners ride WOT all the way on faster roads which is why the bikes don't last long.

Coming from a demak90, any newer kapchai will serve you well. 125s will likely only hit 100 comfortably. A bit more if pushed. Watercooled bikes will be more powerful than air cooled bikes of the same capacity.p

Scooters could be a consideration for urban city use but bear in mind maintenance of the drive belt is costlier than chain and sprocket. However the conveniece of an automatic and large underseat storage can't be denied.

If commute is your main concern , go scooter, if you want stability and BIG storage so you can just dump everything inside the bike and walk away, choose big scooter. Like the es250i mentioned above.

Depends on where you live or work, yama's bikes are quite a thief magnet like the lc, ysuku, ysenam.

I sometimes use my wave 125i for work (around 100km daily) but the pulling power leaves much to be desired for highway use, but serves its purpose for city roads. Due to the large underseat storage feels like a scooter.

If my expectation is around 80-90km on highway, would wave 125i suffice?
also, if you're in kl, i'm looking on sprint and ldp side of highway .. its more for safety and not rempit style, as my current bike is around 60++, so it's dangerous for me in highway, especially if it's not jam, but not-not jam as well( kl-ian know what i talk about .. when suddenly a stretch open up and everyone speed up to rush to work scenario) and/or if i'm stuck behind lorries and cant overtake them...

Your budget how much first? Will you consider second hand market also?

i'm thinking first hand cause i dont want breakdown halfway ... budget-wise, not much at the moment, that why shortlisted wave 125i.

i'm planning for installment style anyway... just that i'm still 50-50 due to "best bang for my buck" mindset... lol

If you're planning to pay by instalment might as well go for RSX, 125cc bikes really do not differ that much from 110cc bikes and for the most part, you're still running a cub that only needs 1 bottle of EO every 2000 - 5000 kms, depending on the type of oil you use and riding style. ABS is also there so there's that one extra layer of protection for hydroplaning.

Going to 150cc you really start to get some significant equipment and frame upgrades even though at this point they are indeed a bit overpriced *cough cough MYR 15k Y16*. LED lights start becoming standard and generally the bikes are noticeably more stable. Monthly repayment difference also not that high and you're still paying RM2 road tax.

You want to cheap out on the ABS can go for RS150 oso.

Since you are living in Klang Valley can also consider the Modenas Pulsars since there are plenty of spare parts to go around here with at least two known workshops specialising in the Bajaj rebadges but beware the significant increase in tire sizes and the fact that you will be using 2 cans of oil for each service interval and the increase in road tax. Or you can also go for SYM VF3i if you need the front bucket container and do not mind the RM 30 roadtax.
