yea.. i need small stock android phone that isn't 6.5 inch slab and isn't infested with crapware. last time i use samsung m12, my hand got cramped. i hate it that i really like xperia.

do sony ever make discount for their phone lineups?
*
Haha...i feel ur pain. The main reason i pick this phone was due to the form factor. My hand thanks me now lol
Maybe u gonna wait few mths for the discount from sony malaysia.
The discount also not much i guess.

Now shopee got discount. from 2099 down to 2000. minus some shopee mall coupon RM25 + RM120 rebate, total is RM1850.

only downside is it's somehow a 30 days preorder from Sony Center Sunway.

I'm using even smaller phone right now, iphone SE 2020. It does everything I need, only downside is battery endurance is saddening.

Saw someone posted a video of their 10 IV, noticed a few seconds lag when he browse the options in the phone settings, start at 0:50 mark. Is this expected from SD695 chipset?

I don think that's is lag, look like some loading there.
If u are in KL, can try the hands on at sony center.

i did hold the phone for xperia 10 IV. just slightly shorter in hand if compared to xperia 1 iv.. but on hand experience definitely good due to display aspect ratio and make phone width around 7cm.. manageable with 1hand.. my hand is small size.. that is one the reason why i still using xperia.. but colleagues that holding max/iphone 8+ or big phone.. they wil lfeel funny why the screen so long one..

SONY Xperia 5 IV announced with tagline Be creative. Go compact.

Leaked specification is accurate and it still remain as SD 8 Gen 1, 8gb of RAM.. yesterday some sources leaked that it having 60mm telephoto lens.. not sur ethe price but overall there are pros and cons for this 5 IV over 5 III..

Pros:
1. Display is 50% brighter
2. Battery capacity is bigger 5000mAh
3. added wireless charging which i dont think really useful.. unless u really need to charge wireless earbud for temporary?!
4. front camera also upgraded to 12mp
5. all lenses support 20FPS, eyes AF, 4K 120FPS

Cons:
1. 1 fixed telephoto lens only now at 60mm (portrait use)
2. same 8 gen 1 although they did mentioned improved thermal heat control but still not the latest (maybe to take care Xperia 1 IV users?!)

I have been wanting to get sony xperia due to form factor for so long. Is it a good time for me to switch from Pixel 6 to Xperia 5 IV ?.

I do notice that based from current reviews, Xperia 5 IV still have issues with thermal heat. Should I just go for Xperia 5 iii then ?

based on most reviews released so far like MrFisher, GSMarena, they did mentioned about the heat and behaviour is like Xperia 1 IV.. i dont own 5 IV but i owned 1 IV currently. be in mind, reviewers tend to use the phone very frequent to test out all features.. but wont deny it will overheat if really go super intense operation..

with recent firmware update, no issue on daily casual usage such as youtube, netflix, facebook, whatsapp, chrome, photoshoot on food, portrait etc.. the overheat problem occurred when you are spamming burst shots (my case 1600 photos continously, 8x 200 photos).. 4K 60FPS couldnt manage more than 15 minutes, so far my testing shown as below:

4K 30FPS SDR - seamless zoom enabled (Video Pro/Photo Pro basic video mode) 15 minutes+- (noon time), 28 minutes (indoor)
4k 60FPS SDR - only can enabled either 1 lens + digital zoom.. 13 minutes+- indoor
4k 120FPS SDR - 3 minutes is max..
Full HD 1080p 30/60 FPS - not even show any temperature icon at all even after 30 minutes (indoor)
( wifi, data, gps, bt, 120hz display all enabled)

there are many settings that you could preset before shooting.. but above are some records for your reference.. this was in last firmware and this month do have aug security update and i didnt really test on it again..

if you are focus on photo shooting & short video clip shooter, guess no issue for you (i am this type of users).. if you are planning to record entire event from end to end, probably not suitable if you plan for 4K format.. somehow overheated and it will save all footage after it shut down the camera apps.. u have to leave the phone around 2~3minutes to cool down..

but if you asked my opinion whether pixel 6 to 5 IV.. i dont feel much improvements unless you really have extra spare money.. but yes, form factor is something very rare nowadays.. zenfone 9 not coming to msia officially, 5 iv not sure too but it should.. pixel 6 consider new and i would suggest to wait.. but if people who coming from 2/3 years generation gap, i am recommend people to go for it even it may have overheating issue..
