Man, my friend ordered 1 week later than me, almost end of FREE SST.
And he already got the car 2 weeks ago...
he ordered from a salesgirl who is not even from Honda.
Make me feel like almost wanted to cancel.

Unfortunately you’re not the only one seeing this. This issue is rampant all over the country. No one is able to figure out how Honda’s allocation system works.

So you’re saying your friend booked via a broker?

Ok it’s been a really busy past few weeks but yesterday I finally took delivery of my M gray RS.

Earlier in August I asked my SA about my allocation, she asked me to check back in Sept at the time. But a few days later she suddenly told me my car is allocated. I think the car was originally allocated (and actually transported) to another dealer, but because that dealer and the dealer I booked mine at are owned by the same boss, they just “transferred” that allocation to me. Can’t confirm if this is the case, just my thoughts.

Coming from a 2012 Jazz Hybrid (CBU Japan), here’s my first review. Disclaimer: I booked and purchased the car without prior viewing and test driving. Yesterday was my actual first time coming up close and personal with the actual car. Pretty YOLO but it paid off.

1. I’m 190cm tall and thankfully I still have about 2cm of headroom left after adjusting my driving position. It was also a good call to instruct my SA to not include the 7 inch tint sun visor. I’m able to see through the entire length of the hood, which makes front facing parking a lot easier.

2. Also thankfully, the side mirrors have a wide angle adjustment range (unlike the Proton X70 where the side mirrors couldn’t go beyond a certain angle, unable to eliminate far out blind spots).

3. I’m not a fast driving kind of guy so…. Even on ECON mode the HRV RS has decent acceleration to me.

4. Drove 55+km home after taking delivery, set ACC at 80kph (because…. I don’t know, let the engine break-in lol) and the meter says I got 25km/L FC

5. NVH is pretty good, except that tire roar is quite loud… I think it’s even louder than my CBU Jazz.

Sekian. More to come.

Updates after driving 300km:

1. After about some semi mixed driving (70% highway, 30% urban) my FC stands at 4.1L/100km

2. Tire roar is definitely on the louder side, this is even after I readjusted the tire pressure.

3. Suspension is on the stiff side, but not too intruding for me la

4. The front left USB port stops charging after plugging in for awhile. I have no idea why, will check owners manual to see if anything can be done.

This turned out to be due to the USB cable. I was using one of those Huawei quick charge cables where it’s thicker than normal cables. When plugged in it charged normally but after a few minutes it just stopped. After restarting the car and changing to a normal cable, it charges the phone just fine.

QUOTE(constant_weight @ Sep 3 2022, 10:51 PM)
2) My car came with Premium Contact 6. The noise baffled me at first, those are rather premium touring/UHP blend tires. The tipping point was 2000km, they become nice and comfy after some rather long break-in period. HR-V come with what tires? Give it some time and continue to observe.

3) Suspension for road use, there are 2 important distinct signatures it needs to handle for regular drive. High speed low amplitude and low speed high amplitude.
The speed here is not the vehicle speed, but rather the speed of the shock absorber movements.

Low speed high amplitude is like during cornering, the vehicle has gradual weight transfer that compress the outer wheels suspension and extend the inner wheels suspension.
High speed low amplitude is like gravel road, bad pavement, brick roads that give constant fast vibration but relatively small movement to suspensions.

To me, a good and balance suspension for road use is stiff on low speed, which provide good support during cornering, and yet soft on the high speed movement to absorb the vibration.
Such that the car is still pleasant on the bad pavement, but the driver can clearly feel the road reflector etc, and over road undulation change the car settle in just 1 swing.
I'm not a fans of magic carpet ride, so if you think it absorb the rapid vibration well, then it is good in my world.

Of course if driven fast over a pothole fast, that become high speed high amplitude, no road car suspension can handle that.

I'm a little bit tempted to upgrade to Ohlins DFV. The kit for my car is 80% stiffer then stock, but it has separate bypass valve for high speed movement that allow the shock to behave like "soft" in rapid vibration. It is a hefty cost for sure.

Mine came with Conti UC6, but to be honest I don’t know anything else beyond that lol

No 2 - I think u mean to mention the X50? As it have this issue, while X70 is not.

No 5 - norm for Malacca made Honda. They do cut cost on sound insulation? It just a norm when u ask any sound insulation shop, they agreed that Malacca made model had almost thin/cheap sound insulation from factory
*
For me it’s the X70 because I have a few family members that have it. I couldn’t get the side mirrors to go to the angle that I want lah.

No 5 - yeah at this point it’s kinda expected already right. My other car (CBU Japan Jazz Hybrid) has some pretty decent NVH for its class.

1) which angle? In wards or out wards?
Just in case, when you adjust side mirrors, your own vehicle should not be visible at all (in wards)
Errr… basically I after adjusting I still can see quite a lot of the X70 body (door handles and rear door) and I couldn’t set it to go further.

2) the one where engine stop Aircon also stop? XD

*emotional damage*
Yes. Hahahahaha but I already gotten used to it. With this HRV RS, air cond still runs even in full EV mode, which I fucking adore.

After about 500km I have a few small gripes:

1. The small indicator bar to show how efficient your driving is, is gone in the HRV. Now I couldn’t tell if my driving is green, white, or blue. This was the staple of all modern Honda cars. I’m surprised they omitted this feature.

2. The ACC is not smooth. When the car ahead decelerates, the HRV had a split second delay and then applied brakes pretty harshly. I’d say the car behind me would be like “wtf is wrong with this guy” lol

The heck lol...  I test driven the X70 personally and i couldn't recall that happening. Not sure if it's the new CKD added issue (or yours still CBU?) Or just your car side mirror lemon?

It already start clipping and looping after adjusting furthest outward?
Yeah man it started clipping way too early for me. I tested on 2 X70s, CKD and CBU

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 4 2022, 10:30 PM)
Hahaha for you,  that's the best upgrade on this new HRV RS!
Anything else is added bonus tongue.gif

You bet man. It’s been 500km, I’m still on my first tank of fuel and the fc numbers it’s showing is 4.4L/100km which is fantastic given that I’m driving around town with 3 other adults on board.

For number (1) - I just use the Range & Fuel option at the meter cluster and target the "Instant Fuel Economy" bar to be between 15-20. Beats using the ambient meter.
*
That’d work nicely for you, but in the RS I noticed that the engine speed (RPM) is not dependent on how much the gas pedal is depressed (especially during low speeds), as it actually depends on the current charge remaining for the battery.

There have been a few times where I know I only depressed the pedal very minimally but the engine is revving a lot more than that - my guess is around 2k to 3k RPM, because at that time the battery is low on charge. This I think is one of the downsides of the e:HEV system; you’re going less than 30 to 40kph but the engine is pretty loud to recharge the battery.

Do you think there will be an option to upgrade the boot to power boot in near future? Does the previous hrv have something similar?
*
There is already a PnP power boot module for non-RS variants in the market now.

I’ve encountered the first quality issue with my car, after about 500km.

At low speeds a pretty audible rattle can be heard from the passenger side footwell; I managed to identify the source of the rattle to be the plastic piece that forms part of the center tunnel right below the dashboard. After stuffing in some soft plastic, the problem goes away.

Guess I’m gonna have to live with that.

since you identified the source, just send to Honda and tell them to fix it. Should be able to be done within 1 day since you identified the source.
*
Ah ok in that case I’ll inform them when I send it in for 1000km service. In the meantime the plastic will do haha

Not sure but it’s on the HRV Facebook page. I didn’t bother at the time because my car already has it lol

Most of you guys have booked car, some have already received and some are waiting to get it delivered.
1. I am bit late for the party and What is the waiting period if I book now?
2. When do I need to make the downpayment (not the initial booking fee)?
3. Until which stage I can cancel the booking?

I am planning to get the V turbo. Any idea if the waiting periode depends on colour? Which is having high demand and which is having low demand?
*
1. To be honest this really depends on your dealer, and your SA. You can get your car early out of pure luck.

2. Once your SA confirms your allocation and the car is en route from Pegoh, you can start making arrangements to trade in your car / prepare downpayment and make payment

3. Technically as long as the car is not yet registered with JPJ, you can change / cancel booking. But try not to do it last minute lah.

From my observation, silver color is the least booked, but it also appears to be the least produced from the factory.

Installed at SC. Yes if u send it for tinting, they will have to remove it from the windscreen / rear screen.
*
Did you get both front and rear? If got rear, can I ask how your SC install the rear cam with the wiring? Did the installer route the wire through the rear hatch wiring tube, or just route through the rear headliner?

Yes both front and rear. Not sure about the wire routing as the car came with tint and installed with dashcam already during collection.
*
I see. I went with the Honda official Dashcam thinking they will hide the wiring through the rear hatch wire tube, but instead the guy just route through the headliner and the wire is protruding out from the rubber seal and running exposed to the rear cam, destroying my OCD in the process.

I asked the guy and he said it’s not doable. I also malas to deal with him d, now finding a third party shop to redo the wiring. Any suggestions?

Hahaha Honda.

Well i DIY and (very difficult) satisfyingly routed it through the weather sealing tube lol

I am very tempted to do it myself too, but because I have long and large fingers 😏 I’m afraid I might break the clips on the tube.
