Last 5 year plan to get hrv but forget end up why i sign for civic. 😅

QUOTE(Ernest90 @ Aug 12 2022, 06:43 PM)
Actually 5 years ago i plan to get hrv and since my current car next year warranty end.

1.The difference is my civic is non turbo and make feel much different for me.
2. Feel seats are more comfortable and interior is my type.
3.  Boot wise i dont really care cause i dont often put much stuff.
4. Those spot to put stuff which more convenient  and right side able to put  coins/card which my civic doesn't have.
5. No need to add/change any acc since everything is prefect.
6. Honda sensing, lane watch.
*
Since like that, HRV definitely suits you. Seats are plushier than Civic.

Anyway, just a side review, bought Trapo Hex for my Civic and Dodo Mat for my wife’s HRV. After using both for a while, can now say that I prefer the Dodo Mat.

Dodo Mat can’t really see the dirt, it falls down to the 2nd layer. Trapo, the small2 dirt is really obvious. Fit and finish, I give Dodo a higher rating as the cutting is slightly better, but both are very similar.

Had Trapo back then cz of shopee offer + affin cc shopee voucher hence the overall price is rm200+, without boot. One cons, on x70, it did not cover the left side - foot rest area. It is carpeted and easily dirty if not covered.
*
Trapo will have several iterations of their design, most notably the first batch would see it 1:1 with the original car mat (which mine was) and I saw the subsequent batches (posted on Shopee review) cover the extra areas. I requested Trapo to exchange mine with the updated design, which at first they denied having any new designs but relented when I gave them picture proof.

Dodo Mat had the right design from the start in my experience…

Of course, your own experience may vary.

Some observation on RS eHEV. Fellow RS owners pls give yr input as well-
1) When Petrol engine kicks in to charge the battery aggressively, its super noisy like a bulldozer.
2) At cruising speed, cabin is very quiet, mostly hear road noise.
3) When apply breaks on a sudden stop, there is a wining noise, I suppose this is for break regen. It is also a bit annoying.

Share yr inputs as well..
*
How soon does the engine kick in to recharge the battery / how far can the car go on battery power?
Brake: does the brake feel normal? Or does it feel different due to the brake regen?

Can't wait to see on YouTube that new HRV vs X50, DCT vs CVT, which one is faster...
*
On paper specs, HRV Turbo achieves 0-100 in 8.8 seconds, Civic V achieves it in 8.4 seconds and X50 claims it to be 7.9 seconds. You can see x50 vs Civic, paper specs lie… and you can infer that HRV turbo would be faster than X50

So after driving 1284km on my wife’s HR-V, the oil life maintenance minder finally showed the remaining mileage, and it was quite a surprise to see the figure laugh.gif

This oil maintenance is different from the periodic 10k service is it? I guess the distances is the estimation only and it depends on how you drive?

I saw some people post in the fb group, their oil change reminder is around 4.5k only. Haha
*
No traffic jams bro. The trick is to not idle your car engine. I never warm up/warm down by leaving the car on idle, and very seldom kena medium/heavy traffic.

The longer you let your car on idle, the worst your engine oil life will become.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Aug 18 2022, 09:52 AM)
Civic same engine/turbo as HRV v, but the oil maintenance very different laugh.gif
mine currently overdue by 600 km... but should be within the 1k allowable limit during the service 2 days later.

we'll see. lol.
*
Ya, was really surprised to see this figure pop up, but still a welcome one to be sure. 1k overdue still acceptable, yes. So 10k periodic service this weekend?

just in case/pointing out, traffic jams, any duration sitting in traffic not moving = lol oil life counter.

but, in this case for your wife's HRV and my wife's Civic, matter of 5k/10k difference (ignoring the few k variances from the actual monitoring) on the first actual oil change service.
did they determine the HRV engine is more robust? or did they detune the HRV a little bit compared to Civic? or did they improved their oil so that the interval can be longer to 10k instead of 5k for first oil change?
or just shitty technician being inconsistent on the reminder reset/setting?

lol.

yeah it is within 1k overdue (currently 6k km) and yes 10k km/6 months this weekend
actually 28 Aug, but we got plans that weekend so decided to do a week ahead, + that overdue reminder is annoying lol

i am thinking to service CVT sooner at 20k km next service, but we'll see. to discuss with minister lol
*
Oil change has always been 10k/6 months OR maintenance minder balance, whichever is sooner. Not sure why my wife’s HR-V maintenance minder popped up with 12,500km from 1,284km on the odo (it first showed - - - - - for the first 1,283km), normally it would show up to 10k when combined, or just a bit more. Not sure if they changed the calculation method, or it was just the way my wife drove / her daily route.

We both encounter little to no traffic daily. My daily work drive is roughly 13km & 15 minutes in total and hers is roughly 43km @ 40 minutes in total.

As I mentioned on other threads (Civic 10, Civic FE), on the FC, I could only get up to 100km extra for the Engine Oil Life (5.5 years ownership experience). The FE so far I could get 700km extra (7 months ownership experience). This is the first time I see anywhere (forum boards, FB group etc), that anyone could get close to 3,800km extra laugh.gif

So far, people have been posting they encounter terrible engine oil life of course.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Aug 18 2022, 11:37 AM)
yeah that's what i meant, typically it is 10k/6 months whichever first and then reduction or addition, minor variances depending on the oil life monitoring. which we have deduced that it is basically engine run time x km (maybe even calendar date or time included) calculation(s).

hence my food for thoughts above, or just lol @ Honda Malaysia inconsistencies laugh.gif

how did you gotten extra 3800 km though from 12500 km? 12500 - 3800 > 8700 lol
that's a bit confusing lol.
*
it's 12,500km oil life balance when I've driven 1,284km and supposed to be changed at 10,000km.

Thus, 12,500km + 1,284km - 10,000km = 3,784km extra.

laugh.gif my wife v spec, and has been driving hers for close to 3 weeks. Not sure why Honda named her as “1st owner”. If 1st person to book also doesn’t make sense since she only got it today.

In case you go to Honda Service Centre and the Service Advisor recommends to add on Honda Engine Oil Treatment and Honda Fuel Injector Cleaner which are optional items, you can read this. Some excerpts:

Using oil additives: Your vehicle does not require oil additives. In fact, they may adversely affect the engine performance and durability.
Fuel injection cleaning/flushing: This procedure is not recommended by American Honda, as it is an unnecessary maintenance procedure and improper repair procedure. If a Honda vehicle is experiencing a fuel injector malfunction, the faulty injector should be replaced.
Extra oil changes: Oil changes should be performed in accordance with maintenance minder and the Honda owner's manual. Only a relatively small percentage of Honda owners routinely operate their vehicles under severe maintenance conditions which might necessitate more frequent changes than are typically recommended.

So don't waste money ya. Just follow the official maintenance schedule and just reject any additional items, definitely won't void warranty - unless you want la, up to you. I every time visit the SC, surely got lots of additional items tacked on, and I have to fight to remove them. The Service Advisor always say "recommended by Honda Malaysia" or "recommended to do this procedure every 10,000km", or "to prolong your car's life" to guilt/pressure you into accepting them. I bolayan them, and stay firm to reject all items, except balancing/alignment/rotation that I request them - pay slightly higher but they have the correct setting for my car.

Finally got my car today. What a suprise, my SA wasnt even aware that V spec comes with Honda Connect until I shown him the official brochure. He said he will asked the admin to get it enabled for my car.

Anyone can share whats the actual process to get the honda connect enabled on my apps?
*
Your role is just to install the app & register. The subsequent steps, need to be done by the dealer. You just need to share your phone number + email address used to register the Honda Connect app. If dealer don’t do, you need to kejar them

I guess I will start chasing my SA then, thanks for sharing!
Alright thanks man, i'll be sure to chase my SA down until this is resolved.

---

That aside, after getting the car most people recommend to check on the tyre pressure due to check the pressure and I did, guess what its way lower than recommended pressure. The tyre was at 180 kpa - 190 kpa on all side... 😅

Anyway loving the ride and no regret getting it so far. Haha
*
I assume you also installed the Honda Connect app right? There are 2 apps, Honda Touch (servicing / maintenance) and Honda Connect (car remote + tracking).

I really sakit mana seeing the old HR-V graphics for the Honda Touch app laugh.gif

May I know if it really worth it to go the hassle of chasing dealer to get it resolved everyday? What feature does Honda connect for HRV offers if you don't mind to share.
*
You already paid for the feature as it’s included with the price of the car. It’s a 3 year subscription, although i’m not sure if it starts from the day it is activated, or the day you get the car as it’s supposed to be activated when you receive the car.

The app tracks your car gps activity (distance, max speed, average speed & location tracking) and also remotely “find your car”. You can also use the app to:
1. Lock / Unlock the door
2. Turn on headlights (e.g to be used at night and you forgot where the car is)
3. Remote start/turn off the engine.
4. Find out car status: battery, airbag, fuel level, car range & door lock

QUOTE(ads398 @ Aug 24 2022, 10:18 PM)
google Honda Connect
or
visit Honda Malaysia

It has a lot more things...

but after 3 years how much monthly/yearly?
*
Unknown how much it would cost as they have not announced it. Honda City was the first to receive this back in early 2021, so the earliest we would know is probably late 2023.

BTW to reconfirm, the roll down window feature using the Key Fob is missing in HRV right? Civic FE has that. Also no RCTA in Honda Sensing.
*
No roll down window feature on Civic FE in Malaysia, also none in HR-V.

Im planning to get mine installed tomorrow at sicurez. Bought ddpai x2s pro on shopee since I had rm600 voucher not used for so many month..

Saw got a lot of good comment on their workmanship, their google review looks promising.
*
I too installed my wife’s car dashcam with Sicurez. Quite good, but make sure you are there watching their work - my wife’s car was the first new HR-V to be installed there, but according to them it was quite similar to the old one.

Also, if you plan to install the anti-static film/plastic, do inform them earlier as they don’t install it and don’t recommend to install them - I installed it anyway since it makes it easier to take the dashcam off when required

Oh good to hear that. Any particular reason why those static film is not recommended? Afraid break in and thief stole the dvr i guess?
*
They say it’s because a number of cars that they installed with the static film came back and the dash cam has dropped - they claim that the static film is not as firm as sticking it directly on the windshield / tint. I call bull la, I installed it on my FE for 7 months now, never dropped - and I parked under the hot sun every work day. They just malas since they have to align the static film properly before sticking the dashcam on it.

Next thing i hope Honda would offer 360 camera and power boot as part of their official accessories line up. Im sure the sale of this 2 accessories will do quite well. tongue.gif
*
Most likely it would be on the facelift model, or the next gen HR-V.

QUOTE(CheaTeRz @ Aug 27 2022, 10:58 AM)
Thats weird, SC and SA that I came from mentioned that if its pnp and it doesn't involve wire tapping / cutting of the existiing wires there shouldn't  be any issue in the warranty.

On the warranty booklet its too general and doesn't cover much, 'any alteration or modification will void warranty of the related component' something like this. Haha
*
Depends on SC actually, but you never know that if you claim warranty for anything electrical and they deny it based on the hardwire. Safest method is, if you hardwire your dashcam, be prepared to remove it if you want to claim warranty for anything electrical related.
