Is IOS the safest device to install banking app?
So far I heard a lot of android device was compromised
Because can install apk with or without their knowledge
Anyone using IOS device had their bank account hack before?

I wouldn't say it is the safest, but it is mostly all about being smart and aware. Most of the time, breaches are because of carelessness and awareness. But yes, for iOS, currently they don't allow the installation of apps that aren't from the app store unless it's through TestFlight or jail broken phones.

Read that there were some rogue apps that certain Android users installed that managed to read their banking SMS TAC and that’s how they lose money in their accounts instantly.

But haven’t heard of such cases for iOS yet.

Not really 100% safe, every OS has a loophole and yes Apple OS aren't the most superior.

My advice is just beware of these fishy emails or texts you gotten, like those asking you to change your login info/password. Bank or any other organization don't email/call/text their clients to change their credential or login information, UNLESS the client request to. Better call the actual bank with the actual hotline if you're unsure about these fishy email or text, they can verify it for you all for free.

User sendiri allowed sensitive permission to apps ( such as manage SMS )

User sendiri click fake banking site to enter their username password

User sendiri made payment to scammer site

Conclusion = Android Compromised.

People mindset like this, Knowledge level like this, Use what brand phone also dangerous.

loophole??
another Wannabe here....

Go understand what is Social Hackaing

"Social hacking describes the act of attempting to manipulate outcomes of social behaviour through orchestrated actions. The general function of social hacking is to gain access to restricted information or to a physical space without proper permission."

IOS also cannot save you.

People who really don't understand the Hack, trying to explain the hack
can NEVER protect themselves.

99.999% hack regarding bank account siphon in Malaysia IS SOCIAL HACKING

Simply because publish apps on Apple Store is really really Pain in Ass. and Expensive. ( Apple Developer Account )

Hacker simple choose Android...

Loophole???
ya.

but not in OS, is in your head. Because you lack of actual knowledge about the hack.

you can be easily compromise if you think OS can secure your assets

Look full stars mr PRO, "Go understand what is Social Hackaing" <= this I did mentioned to TS about the fishy email/text so it pretty much means that I pretty much knew/understand what is your so called social hacking or social engineering.

"People who really don't understand the Hack, trying to explain the hack" I work in IT field, more on infra and maybe not a full stars pro like you, but I do know a thing or two about computer security.

No I am not going to answer you "OK then explain how people hack?" or any question, because the last time I did, it became endless debates as the other party has a different POV.

Got full stars, jump in and calling others wannabe, oh I forgot, this forum fulls of toxic and 0 manners users, silly me...

This. Especially for those not tech savvy like the elderly. I would only recommend iPhones for them.

So, are you saying any banking mobile app installed on non-ios device isn't secured?

This is mindset issue, not device issue.

My dad is an Android user. He don't know much about IT stuff. Every month I have to reformat his Android because he just simply click on those stupid ads and install rubbish apps.
This didn't happen anymore after changing to iOS.

Both iOS and Android is secure, just that iOS is suitable for those who are not tech-savvy.

there are cases of malicious apps in IOS, however, it's limited, not as widespread as Android.

You all do know why they don’t bother creating viruses for IOS or MAC right? Cause they need their viruses to have wider reach. But that doesn’t make IOS any safer, just less targeted.

If not using iCloud, it should be much safer. Been getting a lot of iCloud spam recently. Almost daily. Best to disable iMessage all together. Useless feature.

Android also safe if unrooted or not sideloading APK. By default, this feature was disabled but too easy to enable back.

Conclusion?

Tech savvy can use Android and not afraid of whatever because they know what they're doing.

Clueless people should stick to dumb phones or iPhone instead. It just works for them.

For my banking needs, I'm using the old A72 with no social media apps or anything with ads. It just a phone with basic data plan. No WhatsApp either. So far so good.

Id say yea coz it doesn’t allow you to sideload unless you jailbreak but that’s on you

Android also can sideload APK and it’s easy to do that and sometime u can do it by clicking a link

Itu aja. It all boils down to your action on what you are doing

Even pc also can be done that way with almost similar web pages but u may have type url wrongly

Anything is possible these days and knowledge is key to prevent these sort of mishap

In terms of security, IOS is better compare with Android.

You only can sideload if ur iphone is jb or thru testflight.

While Android can sideload it just with a link, which for some elderly. They won't know the apk got malware or not, especially for those that want to sideload those "paid apps" which shared by anonymous which might have malware in it.

So IOS is safer, but not 100% safe. You still can kena if simply install app from testflight which shared by others.

Other than that, most probably kena is by call/email/whatsapp.

Apple has a relatively safe system, but still there is always cybersecurity risk involved in any device, just always make sure you update your device. Also iOS introduced a feature called Rapid Security Response that users can automatically install security fixes on iOS devices without a full operating system update.
