These kind of sales presentations are regularly held with countries around the world by defence companies.

Whether it results in an official Request for Info, approval by regulatory authorities, Loi, loa, etc. is a totally differenr process.

Yup. Correct. nod.gif
But let's hope the government really listens to what TLDM really needs first.

Assigned names and optical badges to PPAs for the Indonesian Navy

12/18/2024 | MICHELE COSENTINO

user posted image

The names and optical badges were recently assigned to the 2 Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Ships/Multipurpose Combat Ships (PPA/MCS) originally intended for the Navy and which Fincantieri sold to the Indonesian Navy.

These are the BRAWIJAYA 320 (formerly RUGGERO DI LAURIA, PPA Light Plus) and the PRABU SILIWANGI 321 (formerly MARCANTONIO COLONNA, PPA Light Plus). As with the larger units of the Indonesian Navy, the names BRAWIJAYA and PRABU SILIWANGI are preceded by the acronym KRI (Kapal Perang Republik Indonesia), which literally means "Military Ship of the Republic of Indonesia". The 2 units are located in the Fincantieri factory in Muggiano.

The assignment of names and optical badges implies that the preparatory interventions for the sale have already begun, with the delivery of the first example expected in spring 2025, with the second 12 months later.

Indonesian Navy Sends Task Force to Italy Regarding Purchase of Patrol Vessels

Kompas.com, December 18, 2024, 09:52 WIB
Nicholas Ryan Aditya, Ihsanuddin Editorial Team

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali said that the Indonesian Navy will send a Task Force (Satgas) to Italy.

The task force will be part of the crew of the Pattugliatore Polivalente d'Altura (PPA) offshore patrol vessel or Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) that has been purchased by Indonesia.

The Indonesian Navy soldiers will be the ship's crew from the time the ship departs from the Fincantieri shipyard, Italy.

The plan is for this Task Force to be sent in January 2025.

"There is also a Task Force, maybe in January we will send it to Italy to man the PPA," said KSAL at the KBT Sunda Kelapa Pier, North Jakarta, Tuesday (12/17/2024).

He said that the first unit of the PPA ship could arrive in Indonesia sooner, namely mid-2025.

"The hope is, at the latest maybe June (2025), but hopefully it can be sooner," he said.

In addition, the KSAL also revealed that the Indonesian Navy will send a Task Force to Turkey regarding the construction of fast missile boats (KCR).

The procedure for the delivery of the Revel Thaon Class Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Vessels (PPA) to the Indonesian Navy has entered into full swing.

At the Fincantieri shipyard in Muggiano (SP) the now former Ruggiero di Lauria took the official designation of KRI Brawijaya (BWJ) with hull number 320.

Following this, Marcantonio Colonna also became KRI Prabu Siliwangi (PBS) with identification number 321.

It should be this as Sgs RSN uses the Safran NGDS:

The new MOU will focus on enhancing the capabilities of a weapon control system to address emerging and asymmetric threats. It includes exploring the development of a decision support tool to quicken the engagement response time, as well as tapping on smart ammunition technology to maximise system effectiveness against such threats.

QUOTE
“Having exploited the flexibility and robustness of the NGDS design, which is capable to accommodate a variety of countermeasures of different calibres and firing (rocket and mortar) solutions, we have been looking back to the experience we acquired with TETRAL and SADRAL products with MBDA to develop a solution that can be offered in a short timeframe to our existing customers as an upgrade of current NGDS, or as a new product capable to combine both hard-kill and soft-kill systems,” the Safran representative said. This without the need of adding new weapon systems on already crowded ship superstructures.

This will allow RSN to install Mistral 3 missiles on the NGDS decoy rocket launchers as a hard kill solution against inexpensive assymetric threats.

Alternatively the Mistral 3 missiles can be attached to the 25/30mm CIWS systems on RSN ships.
