Had my fair share of nightmare tenants. 2 stands out the most to me

1. The Hidden Tenant
An Indian lady was introduced via an agent who said she would be staying there with her kid and another of her female friends. She sounded trustable and I decided to let her rent my unit after agreeing on the monthly fees.

After a few months, I noticed the electricity bill was not being paid. I messaged her and it was always later and later, so I decided to drop by the unit to speak to her.

When I knocked on my unit's door - I could hear a bunch of men speaking. Nigerian men.

I asked them if they knew my tenant and they said they did not know who she was. I told them that I am the owner of the unit and I do not know who they are.

I confronted my tenant, and she mentioned it was her boyfriend.
Lies, after lies after lies - they randomly moved out leaving me with a heavy water and electricity bill. Hacking to the wall to install Air Conditioning - leaving a gapping hole in my walls.

The lady rented my unit to rent out the a bunch of Nigerian men at a higher price.

2. The Unit is Haunted
Met a Malay couple who just graduated - seems trustworth. Wife is a school teacher nearby, man was looking for a job. To start with they could not make the full deposit and promised to clear it off within 3 months.

They never cleared off the deposit.

They stayed for over 8 months and during that time they missed a number of payments but I allowed it thinking they are just fresh graduates who are trying to build up their career.

Soon electricity bills were not paid, water bills were not paid... and then...

One night, I received a Whatsapp message saying that my unit is haunted by a girl who hanged herself on the hall's ceiling fan. They claim that they brought an ustaz and checked, and they said the place made them always argue and demotivated.

No such nonsense has ever happened in my unit.

After talking to them, I agreed for them to leave within 2 weeks and for them to settle all the outstanding balances.

2 weeks came, and they blocked my number and refused to pick up my calls. Balances were not paid, outstanding bills were not paid... they just vanished.

Keys were left in the unit with the doors unlocked.

Furnitures were stolen, only fixed furnitures were left.

After all these experiences, I've decided to sell of the unit. Less to worry about.
