I got a bit careless with handling of sweet foods, eventually I got an ant infestation. At first I thought it was the normal black ants (i.e. sugar ants), and got the powder ant bait from Lazada.

First time I tabur the bait, hundreds of ants died. But they were still there, in far smaller amounts, a few days later. Used the bait again, even more died.

I used the bait again the third time, no more ants died. Safe to say, my kitchen and other areas of my house (they spread to dining, hall and also my study room) no longer have the black ant issue. Learnt my mistake.

However, now, the kitchen is kept very clean, dustbin emptied every day, no sisa sisa left...and I have a different ant issue. These are the "ghost ants", with a dark brown head and whitish body. They do not react to the powder bait at all.

Worse still they come from under sink cabinet to one of the wall sockets at the other side of the kitchen countertop. They don't seem to be attacking any food stuff. Have verified these are no termites.

Anyone got deal with these? I read online can use borax + sugar water solution, but I'm not sure where to get borax (powder form) in Malaysia.

Appreciate any help you have with this.

Borax can buy from Ace hardware. Lzd and ShopP should have also.
Sometimes the powder bait need to mix with some oil? Thats what the instructions say.

This ant if u smash it got bad smell right

Go & buy ants poison.

Later i check whether i've the bottle with me.
- Its a concentrated liquid poison for ants.
- It has to be mix with water b4 use.
- It has heavy smells & you should leave the house after use. (U might be poisoned if u inhale too much)

Hire pest control experts.

By far this works the best for me. Just gently spray/ apply the mixture at the ant trails, holes etc.. after few days, the ants magically disappeared. It usually lasted few years before i need to repeat the process again.

But ya, it is smelly & toxic...so got to handle with care

I use ant gel. Lazada have. Straight kill the queen within few days.

This is like the Pied Piper for ants. Only have to repeat when you see ants again.

dont worry with imidacloprid solution, it is very powerful against ants, termite and fleas.

all you need to do is apply on the ant trails and also compliment it with sugars too.

if you are not comfortable with poison, you can try with eco bait (gel type), it works for me.

Use fipronil. Easiest and most economical for domestic scale formulation is bayer regent pack, wettable powder form.

Imidacloprid would kill too fast, reducing chance for it to be carried into colony. Thats why its mostly used in foliar application.

I used powder bait with Fipronil, but it only seemed to work on the black sugar ants, not the whitish ghost ants.
