This is an appointment which really excites me. Like Varane to United.
I believe it will be underappreciated in how better it makes Manchester United if things work out as the impact these moves have is often invisible to regular fans.
The tenure is well structured too. 6 month interim, and he remains for a 2 year period on a consultancy role. The fact that he accepted it after rejecting the first offer means he has significant say in club footballing direction.
No longer is the manager expected to be the next SAF and manage everything football from top to bottom. Rangnick is to fix our footballing philosophy issue. He will lay the groundwork. The new permanent manager will be expected to continue along the same lines instead of ripping up the progress. Which is why I believe that Ten Hag is the new favourite for permanent manager, with his tactical adaptability. I previously commented that if Ten Hag comes, I would like Overmars as DoF to support him. But with Rangnick in that role for 2 years I believe the stage is set for Ten Hag to succeed.
With the change in direction, I too will change my mind. If Rangnick is in the position and Ten Hag comes, then we have a great footballing setup to run the first team. Carrick can stay and learn. My fear was that the coaches would hamstring the manager in playing their way. I think that is addressed now with this structure.

I have no complaints. Got what I wanted.
