Hi. I've received a job offer from TNG & Intel as a software fresh grad.

Both have good salaries but TNG Digital provides a higher salary. But the con is TNG Digital has a smaller "name recognition".
Intel however has a lower salary (-500 difference if included with Intel's huge bonuses) but has higher "name recognition".
As for benefits, I think both have quite good benefits.

So my question is: Is it that important to go for a "larger" company for a fresh grad? Which offer do you think should I choose?

Take Intel because of name. Will help if you ever wanna find job outside of Malaysia.

if you want to be software engineer with hardware related knowledge then intel (you might be writing application/script for hardware testing)

if you want to go excel commercial Apps / website frontend and backend coding then go for TNG

It's TNG Digital which responsible for the ewallet App. Probably have much money because its fintech. Yes true Intel offering 4k. but with bonuses, thats a different story.

Intel even if the pay is slightly lower. From there can go international companies. Say after 5-7 years, you do not like Intel, CV already good.

Intel's monetary benefits should be ESPP, guaranteed 1.5 months bonus and some EB & ECBP? RSUs if you do well in the focal. Not sure since I left many, many years ago. Maybe they changed the schemes.

Relocation only if you're moving from out of state, at least that's what the HR said >10 years ago.

My friend was headhunted a few years ago before the e-wallet launched but it was pretty bad and he left after a few months.

TnG has bonuses too but not that much like Intel which have the company profit bonus, performance bonus, contractual bonus, hiring bonus etc.

if u software background and want to go for intel, i hope you know how to write in VHDL at least. knowing about state machines and flipflops is more important than abstract things like while loops or functions

Can still nego with HR abit? Just try to minimize the pay gap between the two as much as u could.

The company profit bonus won't be high at entry level. Goes up once you reach manager level.

I guess it depends if you want to be more involved in low-level software closer to hardware or a more application type of software.

as a fresh grad the most important thing you should look at is the opportunity to learn.
whatever knowledge you learned in school is nothing compared to job experience, hands on learning

I believe Intel keep rehashing its manpower and moving factory from time to time. Probably okay if you just want to gain brand recognition in your resume, but I wouldn't pin hope for long-term stability.

Go for Intel, as it can open your eyes in MNC, also getting opportunities to travel to other countries

Both work from home. As for Intel, If I need to go to Penang, they will pay for the flights and hotels. So I should have no worry about that.

For fresh graduate, I recommend dont work from home. Go work on site instead. WFH narrowed down the working perspective and you cant even understand how other department works.
WFH are not recommended for beginner unless you're the type lenggang lenggang.

VHDL is very important for testing and simulation during circuit design phase. just use VHDL running on bench FPGA to test rather than fabbing actual ASIC, save cost

Bruh…is this even a question? Obviously Intel la, the amount of experience/knowledge you can get from working for a the leading chipset maker. This place will open a lot of doors for you.

It’s not all about money, think of the future. There are more valuable things then money like experience you can gain, knowledge, connections etc

Choose the one that has better direct boss. Fresh grad you need a good manager to nurture you. Intel name is not what it used to be, I wouldn't put too much weight on that.

Tumpang, do these companies hire IT manager ? the type manages projects

if you like working within your scope, go intel

if you like to learn more, do more, and less red tape, go TNG

basically big companies, you generally do within your scope, doing more means potentially more chance to screw up and get blamed

small companies on the other hand, abit understaffed and you can have more freedom to do beyond your scope and learn more.

but i not sure how small is TNG. i usually work at small software company, hence i get to do a lot and learn a lot.

TNG Digital offered me much higher base salary (+RM900) difference than Intel. But Intel, If I get all of the bonuses, I can get rm1000 more money than TNG Digital.

I think depends if you are interested in more hardware and silicone based or Fintech and apps

For me, i will choose TNG. Have to think 20-30 years down the road. U work in intel u are limited to hardware based software. U got this skill then what? How many hardware based companies are there in Malaysia? Furthermore due to racist NEP, there is little appetite for mncs to open in Malaysia.

For tng, all these wallet services/'superapps', u have so many future place to work. Grab, fave, shopee, airasia IT, etc. Heard Grab pays damn well too. And the thing about these companies is that they may be based overseas so the racist NEP doesnt hit them so much and they can hire u remotely.

Just my 2 cents la.

TnG for cloud technology exposure, their product nature requires them to adopt agile framework

Intel for Semiconductor dev exposure, semiconductor can never adopt agile, it cannot afford failed fast move fast kind of methodology

Take Intel for sure, speaking of experience don't go with TNG, encountered the worst HR experience for middle management interview.

I mean middle management of senior manager position and not junior, can't imagine how bad for junior ones but I do think HR recruitment plays an important role in reflecting the company's image.

If they do half-baked job - the same probably goes with the management tiers.

Want to work like Chinaman, until 9pm also at the office, meeting at night, weekend also kena kacau, high turnover rate, boss also apa pun tak tau tapi jadi boss, then TnG Digital.

Intel, don't know much, but my friend resign, then join other company, then join back Intel because she said it's better at Intel.
