How did you find the handling, brakes, NVH, acceleration etc when you test drove both cars ?
*
I test drive both Yaris and City.

Yaris - Pro - better safety (got 360 cameras), free bodykits and tint films.

Handling - slow and stable, brake okay, NVH (normal), acceleration very slow. The fabric seat really normal and the arm rest looks cheap and useless.

City HB - better interior, leather seat, smoother engine. NVH (normal), faster acceleration (bigger space 4300mm vs 4100 mm (yaris). No front sensor, no 360 viewing camera, no body kit.

Decided to go for City HB as the vehicle newly launched and more comfort. more powerful.

The only way is to test drive both.

Fundamentally both are fairly similar cars that you shouldn't waste money on.

Go for Myvi, Ativa for full ASA 3.0 level for the safety features. Vios, Yaris and City are half baked level. Go check them out.

Be wary of this AEB and other safety features. Myself encountered on two occasions. The car in front of me decided to make an illegal U turn and my car overrides my judgement and did an emergency braking! The car behind me almost knocked me and gave me a loud honk. Another Corolla Cross owner's car was knocked recently when his car did an emergency braking. A lot of drivers just love to follow closely behind us. When this thing happens when the sensor takes over our human judgement this is what happens. Still a risk to own cars with semi autonomous features.

2 way to look into this.

1) your car auto brake for you, then car behind langgar you

2) your car auto brake for you, saved you from accident hitting the car in front of you.

people who has actually been in an accident, would appreciate situation number 2

since i have yaris, and i assume you have corolla cross, then we both know Toyota AEB wont auto brake suddenly
it will first give you a warning, if in that split second you dont react, then only it will auto brake for you.
i have yaris for 1 year now, the warning sign came 2 times so far, then i brake on my own and changed lane - nothing happened

the problem is when you follow the car in front so close, the system doesnt have any space to react.
even without aeb, it's just a good common sense to give some space to the car we're following

What I mean is that I do have time to brake and I brake gently but the radar thinks other wise and overtook the brakes.

usually if the car already auto brake, then it means there's little space left between you and the car in front.

my suggestion is maybe you should maintain some space and not follow car in front closely.
or if you like to follow closely, maybe you can disable the auto brake hmm.gif

In my case there was still space in front that's why I brake gently to let that guy made the turn as I already anticipated his move judging from the way he turned his steering to the left for some degree before making his illegal turn. Guess just have to be more careful with this AEB.
