How to tell if a clinic is government clinic and not private clinic just by looking at the signboard?

Sorry for asking this really noob question. I was told that poliklinik is government, but when I look at the branding of certain poliklinik (those at shoplots), it looks private.

Govt is is Klinik Kesihatan. The rest are private

Oh.. forgot. Last time Got Klinik 1 Malaysia. These operate in private building but I think now no more or reduced in number.

wow...do you never went to klinik aa bro?...if you to have pay surely private klinik. unless you go for triage at public hospital that need pay rm2 for registration only.

i went to private clinic near my house, never gomen clinic. i want cheaper healthcare, which i have never visited before.

anything that is not klinik kesihatan/klinik desa is private.

Private clinic can be cheap or expensive depending in the medication they use.

Original drugs is more expensive while those generics is a lot more cheaper.

BUT there are some clinics that gave out generics meds while charging original like price, beware of this kind of clinics

By right they should have atleast 1 family medicine specialist. But in some district there is on rotation basis between several KK in that district

Most of the time no, they will refer you to hospital if needed. Specialist normally paediatric or dentist sometimes will come by.

I think Klinik Kesihatan (like Klinik 1 Malaysia) mostly a place where those medical students graduated do their practical, but the is at least 1 experience doctor that they can refer to stationed there, just like Emergency section in hospital even on weekend.

Klinik is more on general health and if anything serious, you will be referred to hospital, just like private clinic.

Well, even if you go to private hospital, the so called specialist probably just as fresh doctors with minimum experience. Most experience specialist doctors are in govt hospital. It is just the waiting time is long.

Yes. This is correct. Normally they have specific schedule for specialist on visit. You can make appointment if not urgent.

usually kk is packed from 7 a.m. better go there afternoon after lunch.

The KKM Klinik Kesihatan got Category 1,2 & 3. Usually the Klinik Kesihatan will have their own compound like below & they can be easily be identified with the KKM logo at the entrance ( red crescent logo )

Another type of Klinik is the Klinik Komuniti KKM ( previosuly known as Klinik 1Malaysia) , refer to the history of the decision

If you intend to get treatment by the Doktor Pakar, you need to visit the Klinik Kesihatan first ( don't go Klinik Komuniti, they don't issue recommendation letter / MC). After meeting up the doctor at KK, they will write you a recommendation based on your illness / conditions to the nearest Hospital ( with the specialist ).

Your first attempt at KK will consume a lot of the time. Your 1st meet up with the specialist at the Government Hospital will consume a lot of your time. Your following visit / follow up visit, it will be smoother as there are pre-set date of appointments.

Yes, it is free for the KK at the small towns. At the big cities, you need to pay.

When the parking is free, be ready to expect the difficulty to look for a parking spot.
