Solved by a full reset of my Xiaomi AX1800 router.

Had to restart my Xiaomi Router, woke up to like 4mbps dl and 10 mbps ul, latency was horrible as well, restarted and it’s fine, it’s probably the gateway we’re on was congested (Think my IP didn’t change as well, but gateway probably did)

Just CGNAT gateway getting congested, my gateway changed after reboot as you can see, so TM probably doesn't have auto failover when it detects any slowdowns and the user have to initiate the reboot to swap gateway

For some reason, Xiaomi's router IPv6 settings is very unstable, sometimes eventhough I get a /64 prefix assigned with gateway in my router, my devices in my local network doesn't have IPv6 connectivity, so my IPv6 connection is kinda unstable, I do have my remote services with dual stack IPv4/IPv6 (OVH/Hetzner), just my router doesn't failover to it properly for some reason. Plan to swap to a mikrotik heX S to temporary solve this soon cuz this sudden latency spike issue is kinda getting annoying...

So currently my parents are paying for 2 30mbps package for 2 of our different houses. So total of RM184 ish total-ed. Currently trying to cancel one and just get one connection. To get SWU, I just need my parents to call TM and tell them that they want to change ISP and they'll give the RM129 for 300Mbps offer? And if so does SWU include the 6 months free upgrade to 500mbps like how it's mentioned on Unifi's site?

Also let's say if we wanted to relocate the connection to another address/house? Is there charges for it? I read somewhere on Unifi's site that there's a RM300 fee if connection is relocated?

For the transfer ID, my parents just needs to call another ISP (Maxis/Digi/Celcom) and request the transfer ID? And after that just need to call TM and say that we want to initiate the transfer and wait for their counter offer?

Fiber splicing, they’re using a resin like material to bond two fiber strands together(might be one in your wall and one that’s running to your ONU), whether it’s due to it breaking, or just needing to extend the run.

Yea figured, I only know what is the operation named, not what the material they used, had the same thing with my parents Fibre connection when they pulled a new run into the house

And I can presumably do this with any ISP? Do my parents need to do it specifically? Or I can do it and just hand the transfer ID to them after I request for a transfer?

Alright so the process should be this?
Find Maxis/Digi/Celcom agent on Facebook/Road Shows, request for transferration and give them all the neccessary information to register for the other ISP >
Go to TM Point and let them know that we'd like to transfer ISP >
Ask them about the SWU offer at TM Point's agent counter >
Profit?

But what if they don't offer it? Should I still proceed with just transferring ISP directly or they'll for sure offer the SWU offer directly?
If they don't offer it, what ISP should I do the transfer ID thing with? Maxis/Digi/Celcom? My family has all of these 3 telco, so we can probably get the offer that comes with these telcos

So basically I should just get my parents to just go to TM point and ask them to cancel the other line, and just hope that we'll be eligible for SWU for the line we want to keep?

Just typical Unifi, having bad peering to international server, Maxis peering to international service is still miles ahead of Unifi, that's why Maxis performs better with International service

Yes as you're the one receiving the packets, it'll pass through Unifi's private gateway normally, but the outside world can't reach you directly. Think of having public IP is you having your own phone number, where anyone can reach you if they know your number. But having private IP is like you being in a office, where all the calls that's coming through is all done through one phone number, and you need someone in between to route it to the appopriate person.

This is an over simplification but the general idea is, unless you know about it, you're probably not the target audience and hence you do not need it.

There's routers that costs up to upwards of 2k-3k MYR, and as low as 100 something, so it all depends on your budget. What you want to do is not important, if you're not running a network with more than 100 clients, anything will do, but it'll matter for futureproofing as we're moving into a new generation of wifi connectivity slowly. (Wifi 6 specifically)

Have we always been able to access rarbg/1337x.to? I have just been using rarbgunblock + 1337xx.to(Or any other equivalent proxy of the site). Tho I've been just using TM's default DNS and not 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 tho. Does TM's default DNS block these sites?

Just did some testing and swapped over to Cloudflare DNS for both IPv4 and IPv6, looks like TM's default DNS is the one culprit blocking torrent sites

I have a remote dedicated server since forever now, that I also use for torrenting, I cba fighting with TM to torrent stuff

Nothing really, just two torrents of it from seperate sources. , FEED tho, not normal

More like Xpenology, running it under Proxmox's hypervisor, there's other software like TrueNAS that can do what I need but this is more what I'm familiar with from all the time I've invested into learning how to run synology software on non synology hardware

Are you on 300mbps or under package? Cuz if you are, you can't port forward

Whoops sorry worded it wrong, below 300mbps package. Then have you checked if your port forwarding rules is redirected to your synology NAS's IP? And have you disabled TM's router default web UI on port 443? As I'm using my own router idk how your D-Link DIR-X3060Z does their web UI, your default port 443 might be occupied for your router's login page for remote access.

As I said, it's Xpenology, you run Synology's software on non Synology hardware. You can do it on baremetal/virtualized. I currently have two of them running, one baremetal (Local) and one hypervised (Remote server, and I used to have CMS setup on them both, nowadays I just don't bother with Synology's HA/CMS system.

Basically I rent a whole entire dedicated server with their provided config for a fixed cost monthly, and I set it up so that I can virtualize multiple instance of software with just a single server (Currently I'm running 2 Windows VM, 1 macOS VM, 1 Xpenology, 1 Minecraft server and a few other VMs, such as OPNSense/IPXE/etc that is just used for testing purposes). The other option you mentioned is colocation, which is basically you giving a data center your machine, and you rent their space, network and power for also a fixed monthly cost. Currently I'm renting a server from Hetzner(Germany) auction online and is paying 39.1EUR per month for a Xeon E3-1275 v6, 64GB RAM with 2x 4TB hard drives.

Renting dedicated servers usually is a lot more expensive, you can check like Shinjuru's Malaysia hosting, OVH SG, or any decently large server provider, it will be 2x-3x more expensive. Hetzner is currently the cheapest option if someone wants a dedicated server to use it as a remote homelab/seedbox. BUT if you decide to only use it for torrenting, as go626201 mentioned, premade seedboxes with RSS feed parser, torrenting client, media client will be a LOT cheaper than what I'm currently paying for.

For just pure remote media usage, it depends, my ping from my parents' TM connection is around 180-200ms. I have tried to use jellyfin for direct streaming (4k content) but on 30mbps it's just not feasible, HOWEVER 1080p is a different story, I can do a typical N streaming service file with direct play without issues (1080p HEVC HDR btw). But it entirely depends on which server/IP you get, if you get a bad server with a bad IP, your routing will be bad, upwards to 200-240ms ping even, and your data transfer rate might be less than ideal.



If you have the time, the knowhow and the budget, you can try to go for a dedicated hetzner auction server. And setup everything yourself, it's already quite well documented online at this point. BUT if you don't have the time, just get a seedbox, around AU/SG/JP or anywhere close to Malaysia (You generally can ask them to provide a file/IP to ping to to check your latency and speed). As I alluded to earlier, Hetzner might assign a bad IP/bad server for you, for bad server, Hetzner has great after sales service, if you have issues, they'll let you access your machine's BIOS through HTTP IPMI and configure it, not sure about the IPs tho, whether you can request for a swap or no, since it also depends on where your server is physically located at, it could be at Falkenstein, Helsinki or Nuremborg.

TL;DR: Yes I rent a server remotely, and I install Xpenology(Google it up) on it with Proxmox in VM. And for 4K HDR, it depends on your ping and your speed. Normal 1080p should be fine even with Unifi's base 30mbps package.

Checked traceroute, IPv4 and IPv6, looks like v6's CDN has some ping fluctuations. IPv4 seems fine.
