I got this offer from TM for free wifi router+mesh. Anyone accept it? Worth it? IINM, accepting the router just locks you in for 12 months, correct?

QUOTE(countingcrows @ Feb 26 2023, 11:51 AM) Any help? Managed to sort out the DHCP IP assignment issue.TM supplied D-Link DIR X3060Z router problems. Can anyone help? 2) Port Forwarding not working. Port Closed according to canyouseeme.org even after setting it up. Did I set it up correctly? Still can't figure out why port forwarding is not working. |

QUOTE(kuntakinte @ Mar 18 2023, 01:39 PM) need some expert advice...... uniFi upgraded my router to WiFi 6......I got technician to do the settings but have not connected it.... still usingmyold one with mesh..... should I connect the new WiFi6 router or keep the old one? my concerns would be device comptability.....my existing router connects nicely at 330mbps already.....do Ihave more to gain...thanks I'm not expert but no harm trying the new router, right? if you don't like it just revert to your old one?For me, since the CPU is newer compared to my old router, I can see a difference when doing LAN transfers from PC to PC. If you set the WIFI mode to b,g,n,ax then there should be no issues connecting your devices. WIFI speed depends on whether your device supports the newer, faster WIFI standard. The only things I feel that are deficient with TM's router are 1) there's no connect/disconnect internet button so one has to use the reboot router button to get a new IP but since the boot up time is fast I'm fine. 2) The DHCP reservation table is limited to only 20 MAC addresses which is insufficient for me. kuntakinte liked this post

![]() Guys, saw this in my account. Is this "free" or do I need to buy it as add-on? Currently, I have the white UnifiTV box. Is this much better? |

QUOTE(chkwong @ Mar 29 2023, 01:37 PM) No such thing as "free" from unifi. When they bound you to another 24 months. Ya I will be locked in with TM for 24 months but I don't mind as I would still need internet at home and I'm not interested in switching to Maxis.Free means should be free, no strings attached. Otherwise that's not free. So, I might as well get some new equipment. Just didn't want any changes to occur to my plan if I got new equipment. |

QUOTE(christina1 @ Mar 31 2023, 04:13 PM) Well, it's interesting to note that the MSAP for say 1Gbps in 2023 is $2,546.37 vs $5,278 in 2020.I wonder if other telcos are rushing to reduce prices when wholesale prices have been slashed by half or just take their time and rake in the profits. |

QUOTE(Xefron @ Apr 6 2023, 08:28 PM) yes, the WAN speed is 2Gbps, but your LAN port will be limited to 1Gbps each. Meaning you can't get 2Gbps for a single LAN port. But 2 LAN port can achieve 1Gbps max at one time (2 x 1Gbps) So, is TM going to supply a BTU with s 2.5Gbps LAN jack for the 2Gbps plan?To enjoy 2Gbps on a single LAN port, you may need something like Mikrotik RB5009UG+S+IN and a 2.5G ethernet card. kamil129 liked this post

QUOTE(asellus @ Apr 12 2023, 03:39 PM) It should be something like below:- Hmm, if that's the case then I think if you BYO device, ie. GPON SFP & Router with 2.5G/10G ports going to a PC with 2.5G/10G LAN ports, then 2Gbps is possible.[attachmentid=11463051] Highly likely the supplied router will be this one if Xefron is to be believed. |

QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Apr 12 2023, 05:01 PM) They should provide AIO routers for the lower packages instead of their Ultra packages where users will more likely purchase 3rd party routers to suit their needs. |
