TM already attempt to manage cap your expectation.

"Result speed test (sic) of single connected device is basically 90% of subscribe (sic) speed."
*
Actually i think nope.
TM might given more than 2gbps bandwidth to ensure the line can hit 2gbps.
Like current plan, will given additional about 5% bandwidth.

The reason single test 90% might due to Ethernet transport overhead.

Just got the call a few mins ago. Same details as the last few pages. Sad that the DLink don't have 2.5G port nor link aggregation.

Load balancing not a problem. Guess that's one way to go for now. Oh wait, does this mean the 2 x 1G have 2 WAN IPs?
*
QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Apr 12 2023, 04:41 PM)
it seems so.

will if be 2 CGNAT IP?
or 2 IPv4 public IP? brows.gif

TM can always say the new packages are different from 300,500,800Mbps; only available in CGNAT flavour
*
98% no, As TM giving Wifi BTU router mean It is the one that dial with internet. So only 1 IP from what i guess.

Will the speed testfor my 2Gbps plan via WiFi be limited to 1Gbps also?

 Don’t worry, the speed test via WiFi will not have a limitation up to
1Gbps only.

So that mean connect to that wifi BTU router can hit more than 1gbps. brows.gif

Can I use a third party router in conjunction with my Optical Network Router?
 We highly recommend that you use TM’s provided equipment only as the device has been configured to work with TM network environment.

Can I use my own equipment instead of using the Optical Network Router?
 We highly recommend that you use TM’s provided equipment only as the device has been configured to work with TM network environment.

I hope TM will give us the right to use our own equipment.

I suppose most of you who are on desktop will be equipped with Intel I225 or I226-V ethernet chipset. You all have to understand that although they support 2.5gbps, it's not ideal to use them in their native 2.5gbps mode as there are severe connection drops with it - https://www.techpowerup.com/303854/psa-inte...o-fix-available

So EVEN if (in theory) WAN aggregation works for 2gbps, it's pointless if the client (your desktop or laptop on LAN) is using one of those Intel ethernet chipsets.

Just buy another Realtek 2.5G PCIe Ethernet Adapter card only cost less than RM50 only on taobao (without delivery fee)

For GPON, yeah, I have been hacking during PKP, so much free time...

if XGPON/XGSPON, So far I found some high end SFP and run very hot.

last year have tested 2.1Gbps during 2~3am, this using multiple PPPoE account and aggregate via Mikrotik:

Do I need to replace the current router - ASUS RT-AX3000 for the 2Gbps service?
*
No,TM not giving 2.5Gbps Lan Wifi BTU router. 1gbps and 2 gbps plan will give new wifi BTU router mesh set,so u might just leave your ASUS RT-AX3000 in storeroom. laugh.gif
And the subscription fee for 2gbps is too high ,only richman can afford.

how unifi fix the PPPoE overhead issue to introduce package speed higher than 800mbps?
*
They does not care about that, they just want user to use new Wifi BTU router's multiple port in order to hit 1gbps or more.
(With this way the PPPoE is on that Wifi BTU router so with more than 1 port then the bandwidth can more than 1gbps without using port 1 only.)

... but it requires the modem side i.e. ONT/ONR to support LACP protocol.
*
I not sure this way can work or not,
I think it might be possible to use load balancing with 2 ethernet cable "bonding" to bridge another router as main PPPoE router.
Concept:
TM wifi BTU router(A) with bridge mode <2 ethernet cable > another router(B) support bonding and got 2.5G Lan port

And the router B can transmit 2gbps between router A and B, and with router B connect 2.5G Lan port to a PC,might be able to hit 2gbps speed.

TM provided router needs to know what to do about 2 cables/ports being connected to the same router
but seems like it does not support bonding, so it just wont work, both sides need to support bonding
*
I saw from China website wrote that some of their 1gbps port "ONU" does not set with bonding, but still work with bonding to hit more than 1gbps.(few years ago)
So this can work or not,i also dont know.

yah i was shock

fixed ip also same price RM189 1GBPS business

wow so nice but maxis infra only area

but TM not yet reduce 1GBPS

i waiting 800MBPS only due 1GBPS AND 2GBPS I don't like ONR i think don't have PPPOE i think so that why they use LAN 1 1GBPS AND LAN 2 1GBPS seen We highly recommend that you use TM’s provided equipment only as the device has been configured to work with TM network environment.

too bad i don't like why they recommend use  ONR maybe no use PPPOE ???
i have doubt aggregate they use LAN 1 MAX 1GBPS AND LAN 2 MAX 1GBPS

look like 1 IP seen like without PPPOE because if 2X 1GBPS LINE mean must have 2X PPPOE
but ONR they setup special without PPPOE that supported 2X 1GBPS so crazy

i think i take 800mbps because i get ONT BTU without ONR without trouble
*
95% chance the pppoe still got. TM just dont really want people to replace it,as there will be alot of unnecessary issue may happens. They might still allow people to use custom device,as some people really have the needs. Even they said not allow,it will be multiple way to use custom device.
The new device actually will resolve alot of current given crap wifi router issue. So most people who having the new router will suddenly having less issue on their unifi usage.
(The new device just certified by Wi-Fi Alliance days ago - Date of Certification April 7, 2023)

And i can see near future TM will just give the new type of BTU to all new user or current user replacement device. old BTU might not be given few year later.

Me too, Just give free 1gbps plan upgrade ,and i am happy. Since i lazy to add another 2.5Gbps Switch, so 2gbps not really useful for me.

cheaper 2.5Gbps x5 unmanaged switch still need almost RM300.
2.5Gbps x8 + 10G x1 port unmanaged switch need about RM500. (Edited: just saw a cheap one only cost less than RM300 but no stock drool.gif )

QUOTE(soonwai @ Apr 13 2023, 12:53 AM)
Can lah, speedtest can get more than 1G. Just do load balance like this:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=83909578
This is ancient history. Load balance 30 x 2 = 60 Mbps

Of course: 2.5G > 2x1G LACP > 2x1G Load Balance > 1G+1G
*
If give u 2gbps plan, are u going to upgrade device for 2gbps combine or just use 1gbps x2?

what you think about 2GBPS 2x 1GBPS ONR PPPOE account X1 or X2 ???

to much doubt because aggregate they use LAN 1 MAX 1GBPS AND LAN 2 MAX 1GBPS

i have doubt about 2X 1GBPS FOR 2X PPPOE

i don't like ONR i hope you will testing like use PON Stick SFP, plug it on SFP+ 2.5Gb (2500base-X/HiSGMII) like RB5009
i hope someone get upgrade 2GBPS then you can update Please
*
(My guess)the new onr just replace that the normal router,so the onr might just have 2 authentication,
1. fibre optic ploam number and modem information
2. pppoe authentication, so the pppoe id already set as 2gbps down and 1up
and so all 4 lan port on that each port can run 1gbps and total is 2gbps to internet,
and within the lan network,4port are in the same network, mean port 1 device and port 234 is accessible with each other.(as a switch)

if unifi could reach 2gbps at onu/onr with a single pppoe, there is no reason why unifi wont get a onu/onr with 2.5gbps port to offer a real single 2gbps package, instead of 2x1gbps.
*
I think it is because the cost for 2.5gbps ONR is higher, and also they might not really want people to push 2gbps at all. since 99% people does not have the ability to hit concurrent 2gbps for normal usage(except speedtest).Older PC not supported 2.5G port.
From what i saw from China website,it might cost few hundred per unit(decent quality),so maybe find a lower grade compatible ONR also not cheap.
China 2.5G ONR just get in market about 1-2years only.

And second TM find Dlink to produce this new ONR which maybe having a lower reasonable production cost to provide 1/2gbps service.

Edited:
And also TM give this new ONR,better than not giving a new one.
Since this one can support wifi, which mean you cant use more than 1gbps on LAN,but you can hit more than 1gbps if you have a good device that have better wifi receiver.

Just visit some SG forum discussion ,
unifi 2gbps should be similar to most singapore 2Gbps internet.
Some of them saying it is possible to combine 2x1gbps to 2gbps connection with specific way or method with keeping the onr,but still need additional device(router or something else)
Or change a new ONR that support 2.5G port or 10G port.
So i think unifi is also can work like this way.

Unifi 2gbps should be similar to type 1.

my guess: if anyone not really care about 2gbps download speed, but need 1gbps upload speed,u might still can utilize 1gbps upload with single lan port. (unless TM do something dirty on that ONR)

The 2Gbps/1Gbps is aggregate of
1Gbps/500Mbps * 2.

So maybe if your upload is threaded into multiple streams and balanced between the 2 links....
*
user posted imageuser posted imageuser posted image

I more believe that if only run speedtest with 1client,then 940mbps up and down is possible.
And u can see the ip address is the same one, meaning high likely that is the same pppoe account.

so,now we just dont know tm got give abit additional bandwidth or not.
It might need 3 device to speedtest at the same time to verify. (Or 1 lan 1 wifi)

Basically most people will not longer need to use your current router anymore, unless your current router wifi coverage is better, then u might just use it as a AP.
And
I think most current consumer router's link aggregation might not work ,as it will need both side have the LACP functional to work.
