Does anyone know the default idle rpm for a Modenas Kriss 100 (MN100)? The manual is long gone too, unless someone knows where I can get one.

You mean without a tachometer?
Besides actually getting something like one of those tiny tachs or what not, there is the multimeter way (only works on the ones which have Hz mode), the audio capture method (sampling the sound and looking at the waveform and calculating from there), and the old school just using the ears hehe. YMMV of course though, and everyone seems to have their preferred method (with regards to not having tachometer available I mean).

Thanks, I assumed it was somewhere between 1k-1.3k, but wanted some opinions/advice on what everyone was setting theirs at smile.gif

Nice idea, I don't mind seeing things go forward. I'm sure it adds an extra dimension of security and safety aspects, as well as shelter from rain and bugs splatting against your face hehe. The only thing though is it totally changes the way motorcycles will look but I suppose it's a double edged sword and there are pros and cons with it. If I was given one I wouldn't be one to complain hehe. I'm always ready to try out new things. I wonder where the passenger goes (looks like it's just a single seater)? And I wonder what range it has and what batteries it uses. Anyway I like the ideas the guy comes up with, though not always visually appealing but practical at least.

Talking about tachometer. Does anyone ever tried changing their speedometer into tachometer? I think that would be a cool idea.. biggrin.gif

Indeed that would be cool, for a prank lol. Those that already know the speeds according to rpm would probably want to do it hehe. I guess if you have a gps mounted you could just check speed from there I suppose, just don't go speeding. Actually that could have its application. It would be like the long way to checking your idle rpm as you'd have to do all the mods each time just for that lol.
They should probably mod the speedometer to have a 2nd hand that shows rpm, but I bet it's a lot of work.

If you have a multimeter capable of Hz mode, unplug the red & black wires. The red wire will be the one that receives the pulses like an antenna, so if you have a poorly shielded multimeter then it probably won't work well or at all. You may need to test with different wires, but strip the plastic from some electric wire and stick it into the red lead plug like an antenna (just bend it into like a U kind paperclip shape so it stays in the plug). When trying to detect the rpm you need to basically have it near the spark plug. Usual way of calculating is:
RPM = Hz * 60
however this can differ depending on 2 stroke/4 stroke so sometimes the value may appear as doubled. You'll definitely be able to logically come to that conclusion though.

I even seen some people use oscilloscopes, I thought that was nifty, makes me think of a mad scientist mechanic.

tongue.gif Actually, I think it will be cool so that I'll get a 'perfect shift'. brows.gif I know there are aftermarket tachometer to read the rpm. A friend of mine did it before. But I want to keep my bike 'standard'. No bolt ons. I want to eliminate my speedometer because it's a Honda Wave. Speed is not important LOL. So one day I got the idea of changing the 'standard' speedometer into a tachometer. Is it possible?
Btw, I just guess that the 'tachometer you mentioned is the meter that read rpm. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm planned to put disc brake at the front and rear. But neglected due to overbudget. And I did consider a custom cover set once. But they are very expensive. So I think maybe I'll do my own design and it will be more worth it. So far I only got GIVI HR3 and a plastic bucket. Are they considered mods? smile.gif

Yeah, for us who have underbones (or at least for me) top speed isn't exactly a priority so I definitely understand you on that perfect shift aspect. I'm not sure however how to go about it to convert speedo into tacho/rpm sorry.
Yeah the one I mentioned is for detecting rpm.
I'm not sure if you can call those a mod, but maybe addons/accessories. I myself am considering what I can do to my Kriss 100 since it's just stock right now. I would love to have some machining and fabricating tools cos I would just try making my own stuff, and I would love to fabricate a new body/cover etc. Too bad many things like that still cost an arm and leg in Malaysia (machining tools that is).

Hi guys, just wanna ask if anyone here uses car engine oil for their motorcycles? And is it easy to change the engine oil?
I've done it frequently for cars but this would be my first time getiing a motorcycle so i would like to know.

Hi guys. Does anyone know the price for Suzuki VS150 currently? Is it fuel efficient? Is there any other alternatives to VS150 I should consider?
