Well.. unless we know how the exact procedure works over here..

Back then when this volte thing started I remember it does involve the phone manufacturer working alongside telco for testing and sending the report to MCMC for approval. Which, requires money from both sides - if either side thinks its not worth it, then.. yeah?

Ya that's right. We won't know the exact procedure unless we are working in the industry.

If digi think not worth then moto not willing to pay. As a consumer, we can just don't buy the device if volte is important to us.

Lol I find it ridiculous to debate over something so simple again and again. I personally won't buy their flagship unless they improve on telco support.

Hmm it could be just.. Lenovo Malaysia not working with yellow man telco for volte approval from MCMC (for 30 Pro), or yellow man telco doesn't want to test etc 30 Pro, instead? Since it works fine with Red/Blue telco. Like I said, unless we know the exact reason why..

Considering their Edge 30 does have wider volte support, instead. Or the procedure in the beginning of 3G sunset/volte approval is different, back then, which is just during this 30 Pro launch? Perhaps if anyone knows better, please do share.

6 or 5 years back when volte or vowifi just started, it was correct that only a handful of devices by huawei support such functions at start, then gradually expand to apple and samsung models

While other than these, most of devices from oneplus, xiaomi, oppo vivo etc cannot compatible with volte from our network (back then only 3 telcos support namely u mobile digi and yes during 2016)

Yes use the permissive approach which allow any capable volte devices (as long as approved by mcmc) to use Yes volte. However yes doesn't have vowifi

Umobile and digi used the testing approach, set up the whitelist to allow only tested devices to use volte & vowifi

Oneplus 3, 5, 6 and 7 series were only compatible with yes volte. Probably because they didn't bother work with such telcos that used the testing approach. (What make it worse actually is they only installed the profile of telco them worked with into their phones, we can only mod the software to use similar profile to make work with umobile/digi. Until OP nord series is when they apparently changed their approach to make MY volte work by default). Huawei was first to got because they can work deeply with telcos as back then Huawei was also infrastructure supplier for them

However thing changes a lot since then, many devices now already have volte, vowifi hardware support that work great without much testing with telcos, later on 3g shutdown and other 2 telcos (maxis and celcom) also introduced such functions finally, they use permissive approach actually, they test themselves the devices which works without any involvement from devices manufacturers when making the compatible lists

Digi in 2022 still use whitelist approach is such a shame anyway. We should always complain to them and mcmc to make digi change

If I remember correctly someone did try to complaint to mcmc and come back with reply that it's up to telco decision to support which device and not for mcmc to intervene.

I think there are only one reason why yellow still using whitelist in 2022. Perhapa they want phone manufacturer to pay them to add the device to the list, especially to those device with small user base.

I not sure how much it will cost, let's say if it cost 20k for a single device. If they able to selling additional 2k device because of it, it is just additional rm20 cost per device. I wonder why so stingy and not willing to spend. One commercial already spend more than that.

They should learn from mr pay. They are much smaller than leno but able to get yellow to provide support. If you care for your customer then pay it and get it done. At current stages I doubt user will switch telco just because of moto.

Moto should spend more to increase user base then no need do anything yellow also will provide the support. Lol now is stuck and no progress at all, those happy with yellow won't even bother to buy unless as secondary device.

As i understand from oneplus compatibility
What make it worse actually is they only installed the profile of telco them worked with into their phones, we can only mod the software to use similar profile to make work with umobile/digi. Until OP nord series is when they apparently changed their approach to make MY volte work by default

Op nord onwards is when they changed the approach to work with Malaysian telco when carl pei still with them. This may be some experience for carl pei's team when they moved on to Nothing brand

Not sure whether celcom-digi merger can bring some benefits for us or just worsen our customers rights to choose

But I hope that the merger will eventually make them stop using the whitelist approach

Google sold it to lenovo many years back. For them phone was just small part of their business especially Malaysia. It's no surprise that they didn't take good care of it.

The worst is their gaming phone series. That model basically dead with a lot of issues unsolved. If you look at the their global motorola forum, in fact a lot of issues they didn't even address it after long time. Yet new model keep on launch again and again but this is what every brand doing.

since p780/vibe series times (that time no yet bought moto) lenovo was just producing shits with very very poor software support (also no thanks to MTK at that time terrible support for third party firmware)

that's why people burned about lenovo and ignore lenovo phones for long time

lenovo pc can pakai, phones never boleh pakai
