Dear all,

Appreciate if you guys can give your input on VOLTE on non officially supported devices. I'm running a Redmi Note 5 Pro which is not offically supported, but I have managed to enable VOLTE as provisioned.

And yes, its my fault for not earning 20K MYR a month to buy the latest and greatest phones Team Apple and Team Samseng can offer...

Unifi Bebas - VOLTE works even though my device not officially supported..

Hotlink Pantas - called up to enquire if maxis can enable VOLTE on my device. Their reply is VOLTE can only be enabled for devices on their officially supported list.

Using OnePlus 8T with Digi.

Had to manually follow some steps to get voLTE and voWIFI working.

What input are you after?

Basically, phones that support LTE or 4G are capable of VoLTE.

Easy solution. I called Digi CS and told them that my phone is a Samsung S20.

After hearing that rooting was necessary, I gave up my plan to upgrade to a pixel 6.

Just call hotlink and tell them you are using one of the supported device. Pick one and name it to them.

For Xiaomi:

To unlock VoLTE: open your phone app and dial *#*#86583#*#*
To unlock VoWifi: open your phone app and dial *#*#869434#*#*

Now go into Settings > Sim Cards & Mobile Networks. You will see an option called "VoLTE enabled". Tap the switch to enable it. Scroll down further and you will see another option called "Make calls using Wi-Fi". Tap the switch to enable it. You can then choose whether the phone should prefer network or wifi right below.

Perhaps it was disabled on devices since that was before VoLTE protocol was established. As you know the LTE is just data streaming like packet network in Internet. VoWiFi is Voice over WiFi which is something like you make call through WiFi data network. I think like Viber, WhatsApp, etc. The LTE is data through phone network. The 4G is the starting point. The 3G is still phone switching network to transport data.

See if this help in your case

Three major point if your operator support VoLTE/Vowifi:
1) Your phone support the feature - this is the main issue like the first post mentioned, either ur phone manufactor is huge enough or the phone is released after ur operator launched the services (there are thousands of phone manufactors in the world and i understand how suffer for operator to manage these, by right the volte/vowifi/5G should be enabled by default like 234G)
2) Your phone number profile - called customer service and tell them ur phone is iphone 13 pro max 1TB version (DAMN! i also duno why they wanna reject our request if we know what is volte/vowifi and want to activate it)
3) VoLTE/vowifi button in ur phone UI - make sure u enable the feature in ur phone.

Backup calling is more important than VoLTE/VoWiFi...

Ensure to have Dual SIMs with distinct network coverage combo... Axiata wand Maxis will be the best combo but since #JENDELA_gagal has been awarded to Axiata, find something else based on our locations and monthly commitment...
