Hi All,

I am having a situation now right , back in May 2021 I sold my car (I was at NCD 55%). Till now I haven't buy a new car cause my company allow WFH and has no sign of WFO yet.

Want to ask , do my NCD downgraded to NCD 45% if I don't buy car by May 2022 ?
Or the NCD 55% sticks with me ?

Please help.

Thanks.

i stand corrected; but your NCD will remain valid for 6months before it gets flushed down the drain.

once that happens, you will have to start from ZERO deductions again.

Wrong, your NCD will remain at 55% till your next renewal which will be reversed, 45% then 38% till 0%.

Like say I buy a new car in April 2022 (less than a year from my last SOLD car) , my NCD will still be 55% and when I renew car insurance next year April 2023 , the NCD still 55%. Correct ?

if I buy a new car in Sep 2022 (more than a year from my last SOLD car) , my NCD will be 45% and when I renew car insurance next year April 2023 , my NCD increases back to 55%. Correct ?

Thanks.

your ncd will gradually reduce year on year until you renew or become 0.

I am thinking how soon do I need to buy a new car to keep my hard earned 55% NCD.

I need a car anyway because company cannot be WFH forever.

Just wanted to know how soon.

Depends on when you last renewed your insurance, and 1 year from that date. It doesn't follow when you sold your car.

If you buy your car in Sep 2022, your insurance will be until Sep 2023. It doesn't follow ur old car anymore. Then Sep 2023 when you renew it'll be back to 55%.

I have a complex NCD question. Need clarity and guidance.

CAR 1 - Honda City - Current NCD 45% - Renewal is Dec'22
CAR 2 - Wira - Current NCD 25% - Renewal is Jul'22

NEW CAR - Plan to buy New Honda Civic

What I want to do is-
1) Withdraw 45% NCD from Honda City to the New Honda CIVIC
2) Honda City now sits at 0% NCD. Honda Civic at 45%
3) By July, renew Wira insurance and move up to 33% NCD.
4) Withdraw this NCD and transfer to Honda City
5) Honda City now 33% and Wira at 0%
6) In Dec, renew Honda City insurance with 33% NCD.

Will it work in this manner?

Can, as long as all cars are under the same owner. Also, do note that:
1. You need to top up your Honda City premium (2) since 45% --> 0% - this will be prorated
2. You can claim your Honda City new premium (5) since 0% --> 33% - this will be prorated too
3. You need to top up your Wira premium (5) since 33% --> 0%

Just out of curiosity, if you bought your insurance online, can this still be done?
Or do we need to contact the insurance company direct to get this kind of stuff sorted, or have to contact an agent to do so?

I do understand that the approach will vary from companies to companies, but generally for my general knowledge / understanding.

Thank you for your answer in advance.

My experience, done yesterday (27 January 2022).

My ex-car final renewal - February 2019 (road tax & insurance expired on February 2020) - NCD 38.33%.
The car was left abandoned since Sept 2019 until I sold the car in April 2021.
Notified my agent that I'll purchase a new car before end of 2021.
Managed to purchase a second hand car in July 2021, done the ownership transfer on 26th January 2022.
My agent managed to transfer my old NCD (38.33%) from the old car to my 'new' second hand car, all done yesterday.

If I didn't purchase or buy a new car, the NCD percentage will be reduced on year-by-year basis, based on the final NCD percentage.

Hi all,

I have a question related to transfer of plate number if anyone is familiar with the process.

My friend has a proton saga from which i want to buy the plate number from to my new car. But the problem is the saga is not in working condition and is not worth to repair the car.

Is there anyway i can transfer the plate number to my new car without fixing my friends saga ?

6. After withdrawing Wira's NCD, you can contact your City insurance company to have the NCD transferred to City and you should get some refund.

When I bought my new car, I contacted the insurance company of my old car to withdraw its NCD in advance. Only then could I enjoy the 55% on new car. Otherwise, I would need to buy new car insurance at 0% ncd, then get refund after transferring the ncd.
