I don't think keeping a sampan in a back yard is feasible. Anyone with one can chime in?

The issue with those types of rafts and flood waters are in a flood the water has loads of shrapnel and silt, the novice rafter would probably be sitting ducks as it’s not so easy to paddle a raft in a flood.

No need la, only for those areas prone to flooding, and maybe only happens once in 10 years ... Actually the government needs to focus on flood mitigation in these areas and improve in 10 years ... Set KPI 10 areas in 10 years, flood water not more that 1cm on road.

This may sound absurd but i have the habit of keeping at least 2 months worth of food in my pantry. Things can last long like dried noodles, pasta, canned sardines and mackerel, sauces, pesto and some groceries.

We malaysians don't usually do that because we don't have to store food for the winter. People just buy fresh ingredients that last for a week. But who knows what disaster may hit your area. Pandemic, sudden flood and short of electricity, shops are forced to close.

Better safe than sorry. Just sharing my tips.

UPDATE: It turns out WaterCar is no longer in business. "After several years of engineering and producing the best Amphibious vehicles the world has ever seen, WaterCar has been forced to close down production due to the new CARB ( California Air Research Board ) regulations," Chad March, son of company founder Dave March, told MotorTrend in an email. "We are formally announcing we are putting the company up for sale. "

The sale includes all of WaterCar's patents, along with the manufacturing equipment (molds, fixtures, and tooling jigs) necessary to build the Panther, Panther XL, and Python. So if you're an entrepreneur in the market for a car-boat hybrid to build and sell, here's an investment opportunity for you.

Lol...they think it's so easy to operate one.

It takes some effort to paddle a kayak in calm water, let along a dinghy on potentially hazardous water with currents and submerged obstacles.

True, its ok if skip bathing for few days, drinking water is more important. By the time people get water disruption notice, shops already run out of mineral water. Only can blame themselves.
