I havent test drive the new myvi yet but drove the Ativa

Assuming everything in the myvi is the same except the gearbox and safety features, I would say go for the Ativa

But if you need rear space Myvi is definitely better

from what ive read on the new myvi, its pretty much the same but with the "level-2 semi autonomous driving" capability

mind you, it only works on realistically perfect conditions (so basically never in malaysia) and between speeds of 30~120kmph

so, if you are into resale value and smaller cheaper cars - get the myvi.
if you are into higher seating position, get the ativa for slightly more

also, i would rather walk than drive an x50

just a joke la hahahha
because people's experience with the x50 or x70 is that even minor crashes or repairs will take, no joke, months to solve due to parts needing to ship from china and logistics and proton specialists messing up and etc

from personal experience, my sister's x70 had to go back to the shop a total of 5 times within 2 months to get the front bumper replaced
how do i know this? because i was the one sending it over smile.gif

Most things are the same except ENGINE.

Myvi 1.3 & 1.5 NA, Ativa 1L turbo.

High ground clearance for Ativa. 1L turbo save road tax, but power like 1.5L

5 years maintenance cost seems quite decent. Tires nicer but of course more expensive.

The things the factory model lacks is easily fixed by aftermarket products.

Not just engine but the whole chassis. Ativa is using DNGA while Myvi is still using an old platform with updates. You can feel Ativa is more solid and refined while driving. Myvi is still typical Myvi with old Perodua feel

I also prefer the interior design more than the Myvi

Just a shame it felt more cramp at the rear

Do check if your needs change as well
Do you have kids, more long journeys etc

Maybe both car also don't serve you well
Perhaps a 7seater? Pickup truck? Full size sedan?

Oh your wife is a practical woman. A 7-seater is essential for a family. Even without carrying passengers, the added space at the back can be useful sometimes in transporting goods ( small furniture, bicycles, portrait pictures etc ...)

Other options for her can be a Mitsubishi Xpander ---- newer in the market, bigger, and slightly cheaper too. Is the Xpander in her consideration as well ?

Personally i got few friends feedback that Honda br-v is not that great is just the badge and safety features is quite bare..

If you compare to Perodua Aruz or even Mitsubishi Xpander both of them overall in term of safety or drivability also better compare to it.. Is no brainer to buy Honda br-v nowadays.. The competition from others already topple it..

Let me comment a thing or two.
Downsized engines does not save fuel and give power concurrently. Its either you drive like you stole it or drive sanely.
And usually those who own with turbo mostly won't drive leisurely. If you gonna drive sanely might as well go for 1.5L NA.
Otherwise defeat the purpose of a turbo engin and defeat the purpose of saving fuel because of a smaller engine.

Go and survey Civic 1.5T owners, see what's their town driving FC. Only town driving. Don't quote those Highway FC.
The FC drinks more or less like a 2.0L.
