car exceed 10 years old harder to get loan. can try call up banks and check. need puspakom certificate. transfer ownership is easy without financing.both owners just show up in JPJ with puspakom cert

Get his car grant or at least photocopy and go to bank and ask for car loan application, after car loan approve can just get runner or car insurance agent to help do the owner transfer & insurance if you dont want so messy job.

Probably make more sense to use runner cause apparently some runners can transfer ownership without you needing to do puspakom inspection.

However if you want to save cost then you can make appointment to send the car to puspakom yourself and inspection cost is RM30.

For ownership transfer, it's RM100 and both owners need to go JPJ.

You can look through the past posting here. Already lots of details instructions on he process.

1st step is checking if the bank can grant you a loan. From personal experience I know Hong Leong, public Bank, ambank can offer this.
You gotta find the bank branch that has auto finance department to check.

Update:
1) I went to HLB bank Kajang, the manager said cannot give hire purchase loan to personal. Only thru used car dealer only.
2) I called PB Kajang, said cannot give car loan to car more than 10 y.o. car
3) I called PB Nilai, said can give car loan. Max 3 years for the car, with 7.3% interest and up to 70% loan only.

My suggestion since you so adamant also want that car. Apply for personal loan. Then use loan amount to cash the car

If you talk to normal officers majority will ask you go to dealer as they got some profit sharing or commission thru dealer as some charge a lot so call "service" charge or submission cost (In the end go in to both dealer + banker pocket)
I have no issue walking in to banks asking for loans for most of my family cars, as per TS feedback most properly his car over 10 years and most bank dont want to provide loan for it unless it is very good condition. If car over 10 years, some dealer or bank might provide their own personal loan scheme which is for sure higher interest.
