QUOTE(pew333 @ Dec 7 2021, 08:03 PM) Haha. I am aware of that. I am just thinking of getting the 16 inch and perhaps buy the 67W brick as I do not want to fast charge the device. Honestly the computer is smart enough to not charge when it's full - it will switch the power source to AC adapter when it's full, meaning it won't charge at all. I'm a constant plug in guy, I only cycle my battery once a week, same practice I've been doing for years and my battery health are always pristine - low charge cycle = better secondhand value as well. Just keep it plugged in and cycle it at least once a week to discharge and recharge again. |

QUOTE(dikae @ Dec 7 2021, 09:14 PM) Bro just use the 140w and use a usb c to usb c instead of the magsafe3, should be good enough… You will be surprised by the questions potential buyers will ask, even for a used product yeap, but I’m not too particular with MacBooks battery health compare to iPhones..mainly coz we won’t be upgrading it on a yearly basis..and by time it’s due for an upgrade at least 3 years from now, or 5 years+, I don’t think it affects the resale value that much (unless you are planning to sell it after a year or so)..and I think buyers know what they are buying, for a 3-5 years old machine they wouldn’t expect a super high battery health MacBook.a pristine condition unit without scratches/dents etc is more important.. Any idea how much they charge to replace a brand new 16” MacBook battery? We're talking about Malaysians here Battery replacements could range between 500-800++ depending also, but don't worry too much la, Macbook batteries are tough and built to last, unlike most Windows laptops. |

QUOTE(pew333 @ Dec 8 2021, 07:55 PM) Haha I see. Because apple support website does mention that we can clean our mac with 70% alcohol gently. You can use alcohol (not pure alcohol) on the body, but best not to use on the screen due to the coating - risk of damaging it. Better just use a microfibre / lint-free cloth to wipe it. I usually just use those screen cloths from decent tempered glass manufacturers or from DBrand, pretty high quality ones. |

QUOTE(13th @ Dec 8 2021, 09:28 AM) I'm having this weird issue, anyone can share screenshot trial for istat menu or tg pro? My mac is base model 14", so 8 core meaning 6 performance core and 2 efficient core right? Somehow mine is 8 performance core and 2 efficient core I'm using iStat Menu, but it's the paid version. I'm using the 16inch M1 Pro. Edit: or it is this 2 software fault? Usually if its 8 cores means 2 efficient cores and 6 performance cores. I suspect your software should be buggy. QUOTE(dikae @ Dec 10 2021, 10:36 AM) Yeap back then 16 was more than double the price of the 13…now they made it easier between 14/16..but the tough question is still between 13 M1 vs 14 M1 pro…about 5.5k vs 8.7k, not too big gap in pricing.. No la back then there was also 2 types of 13 inch - I remember there was a dual / quad core Intel chip priced around 5k -> 8k, quite similar to the current 13 and 14 inches, while the 16 inch was also around this price around 9k-12k region (Intel i9). I remember this fondly because I was choosing between the 13 inch max specs but went with the i9 16 inch instead - it was a monster back then |

QUOTE(dikae @ Dec 10 2021, 10:46 AM) Oh ok, for me back then there were only 2 choices, base model 13 M1 pro or base 16 intel…(it was just slightly over a year, not that long It was before the M1 era, still that power hungry Intel chips lol. Had my fair share of Macbooks from the past too, but I guess so far only this M1 Pro 16 interests me, mainly due to the screen and body - (I still admire the body everyday |

Honestly the battery on the Mac is pretty awesome.
I can play Football Manager running and YouTube + Airplay for around 3-4 hours and still left with 30+% at the end, compared that to my previous Razer Blade 14 that only lasted under 2 hours and died. It's pretty decent already. For non-intensive work, I don't even need to bring the charger with me for 1 day use - the battery is really a breeze on this beast. |

QUOTE(dikae @ Dec 15 2021, 04:08 PM) No I’m not planning to update yet, the last round when I can’t charge my mbp (before finding out it’s the cable issue), many reported the issue came from 12.0.1…so I’m a little skeptical going for 12.1…will probably hold back for 2 weeks and see how it goes.. I'm using the 12.1 and I can attest that the charge does work when its off. btw I’m using usb c to charge now, not using MagSafe for time being as I don’t need the super fast charge…usb c can fully chaege it under 2 hours anyways.. But yeah charging speeds is not important to me, but if your usage does not require the full 140w then its fine. Beauty about M1 Macs is that they are so power efficient unlike Windows AMD / Intel chips. Even on USB C at 100w is not enough to power a gaming laptop at 3/4 load. |

Yesterday I finally get the change to test out the raw performance of my Macbook -
Did some video edits on FCP, in between Photoshop back and forth, and output the file (5mins) at 1080p@60z took mere seconds only - the entire process of editing the video was so seamless, and I was running on battery and it only took about 30+% with around 2-3 hours of editing / rendering. After I shared the file, people ask me - how did you manage to get everything out under 3 hours - My answer, I have a M1 Pro lol. This post has been edited by andrewtho: Dec 17 2021, 10:24 AM |

I think my current setup is complete - no intention for an external monitor. Current Mac is sitting on a Twelve South Curve stand, very beautiful and compact stand. The keyboard is a moded Keychron Q1 with GMK Pulse Mitolet. My only regret is not getting a white HomePod Mini, the black looks out of place This post has been edited by andrewtho: Dec 18 2021, 02:42 PM Attached thumbnail(s) faizfizy39, Mavik, and 1 other liked this post

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 12 2022, 10:59 AM) Anyone here uses Logitech mx master 3 or anywhere 3 for your macbooks? Needed some feedback/ review on your thoughts of its ergonomics and usability etc.. MX Master 3 user - heavy but comfortable to grip. Its a productive mouse, very customizable and battery life is great. |

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 12 2022, 06:44 PM) hey, thanks for sharing.. how is the usability compare to Magic Mouse? as in which one you prefer more? coz I had the Magic Mouse but didn't use it much due to not comfort.. actually I'm contemplating between master 3 and anywhere 3.. I feel that the gripping on the MX Master 3 is ergonomic so it will defo feel better when gripping - unlike the Magic Mouse which is flat and does rely on your whole finger to press down.thanks for sharing, I'm contemplating between anywhere 3 and master 3, and I wonder which is better long term use..so far I'm using the trackpad and loving it but certain applications require to have proper mouse usage.. can you quote his earlier message? Personally can't use the Magic Mouse for long, my hands will be cramp - but I do enjoy the scrolling on it, like scrolling on glass |

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 13 2022, 05:31 PM) Exactly what I thought too, coz I’ve seen many people uses sticker and remove them after a year with the sticker stamp on the laptop lol…so I assume skins will have the same faith? Dbrand does not leave residue at all. The premium price you pay for is really worth it, its a high quality 3M adhesive. Been using Dbrand on all my laptops and iPads over the years, never once had any issue with them. Now still thinking of getting on for my 16 inch but still prefer naked to match my gears |

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 14 2022, 10:02 AM) Yea I heard a lot of good things about Dbrand skins, but again, have you ever remove those skins and check out what happened underneath? I’m still skeptical when it comes to adhesive and any form of material used against anodized paints, especially with apple’s space grey being reported so often.. Ada bro, I change my devices quite often - so usually will remove before selling. No residue / stains at all. Worth the premium price. Thanks for sharing, yeap actually my main concern is putting in the bag, it’s ok on backpack days but there are days that I work remotely in cafes etc with a super slim sling bag |

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 14 2022, 10:30 AM) Wahh then it’s good, any idea where can we get dbrand skins here around Klang valley? Must provide installation as well Don’t think there’s any dealer here. Purchase directly from Dbrand itself - the skins are easy to install. If you screw up, can ask for a replacement, just need to pay shipping charges ($5). |

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 14 2022, 10:54 AM) Wow, pretty good after sales, if screw up get free replacement for a small fee Yeah its not too bad actually. Depends if you use ARAMEX will take about a week to deliver, DHL will be within 4-5 days. I’ve checked their web, for full body skins on a mbp cost around 300 bucks free shipping, pretty cheap imo considering all the good reviews…how long is their shipping delivery though? QUOTE(sampride @ Jan 14 2022, 11:01 AM) macbook also uses the chassis to dispense heat. if you put skin on top of it, it will reduce heat dispensing. just my 2cent. using 10years + of macbook without skin/casing. Technically right, but doesn’t impact much. Macbooks does not produce as much heat as one expect, it mainly runs silent until you’re doing a heavier task. With that being said, I’ve had skins on my previous Razer Blades which were x2 or x3 hotter than Macbooks even on a standard browsing basis - there’s no impact on the heat caused by it at all. Also the new 14/16 has side vents now, on top the bottom rear ones so the heat dissipation is much better as well. I’m just sharing from an experienced skin user for more than 5 years - never once experienced any issues with skins. |
