You plan to bring your keyboard out and about?

Honestly the computer is smart enough to not charge when it's full - it will switch the power source to AC adapter when it's full, meaning it won't charge at all.

I'm a constant plug in guy, I only cycle my battery once a week, same practice I've been doing for years and my battery health are always pristine - low charge cycle = better secondhand value as well. Just keep it plugged in and cycle it at least once a week to discharge and recharge again.

Battery replacements could range between 500-800++ depending also, but don't worry too much la, Macbook batteries are tough and built to last, unlike most Windows laptops.

You can use alcohol (not pure alcohol) on the body, but best not to use on the screen due to the coating - risk of damaging it. Better just use a microfibre / lint-free cloth to wipe it. I usually just use those screen cloths from decent tempered glass manufacturers or from DBrand, pretty high quality ones.

I'm using iStat Menu, but it's the paid version. I'm using the 16inch M1 Pro.

Usually if its 8 cores means 2 efficient cores and 6 performance cores. I suspect your software should be buggy.

No la back then there was also 2 types of 13 inch - I remember there was a dual / quad core Intel chip priced around 5k -> 8k, quite similar to the current 13 and 14 inches, while the 16 inch was also around this price around 9k-12k region (Intel i9).

I remember this fondly because I was choosing between the 13 inch max specs but went with the i9 16 inch instead - it was a monster back then

It was before the M1 era, still that power hungry Intel chips lol.

Had my fair share of Macbooks from the past too, but I guess so far only this M1 Pro 16 interests me, mainly due to the screen and body - (I still admire the body everyday ) Easily the best built in a laptop I've ever seen (no bias).

Honestly the battery on the Mac is pretty awesome.

I can play Football Manager running and YouTube + Airplay for around 3-4 hours and still left with 30+% at the end, compared that to my previous Razer Blade 14 that only lasted under 2 hours and died.

It's pretty decent already. For non-intensive work, I don't even need to bring the charger with me for 1 day use - the battery is really a breeze on this beast.

I'm using the 12.1 and I can attest that the charge does work when its off.

But yeah charging speeds is not important to me, but if your usage does not require the full 140w then its fine. Beauty about M1 Macs is that they are so power efficient unlike Windows AMD / Intel chips. Even on USB C at 100w is not enough to power a gaming laptop at 3/4 load.

Nice to see 4K HDR back on Safari @ YouTube, previously was super buggy.

Yesterday I finally get the change to test out the raw performance of my Macbook -

Did some video edits on FCP, in between Photoshop back and forth, and output the file (5mins) at 1080p@60z took mere seconds only - the entire process of editing the video was so seamless, and I was running on battery and it only took about 30+% with around 2-3 hours of editing / rendering.

After I shared the file, people ask me - how did you manage to get everything out under 3 hours - My answer, I have a M1 Pro lol.

I think my current setup is complete - no intention for an external monitor.

Current Mac is sitting on a Twelve South Curve stand, very beautiful and compact stand. The keyboard is a moded Keychron Q1 with GMK Pulse Mitolet.

My only regret is not getting a white HomePod Mini, the black looks out of place

In fact at times I do carry 2 laptops, work and my MBP and both fits well in different compartments.

MX Master 3 user - heavy but comfortable to grip. Its a productive mouse, very customizable and battery life is great.

I feel that the gripping on the MX Master 3 is ergonomic so it will defo feel better when gripping - unlike the Magic Mouse which is flat and does rely on your whole finger to press down.

Personally can't use the Magic Mouse for long, my hands will be cramp - but I do enjoy the scrolling on it, like scrolling on glass

Dbrand does not leave residue at all. The premium price you pay for is really worth it, its a high quality 3M adhesive.

Been using Dbrand on all my laptops and iPads over the years, never once had any issue with them. Now still thinking of getting on for my 16 inch but still prefer naked to match my gears

Ada bro, I change my devices quite often - so usually will remove before selling. No residue / stains at all. Worth the premium price.

Don’t think there’s any dealer here. Purchase directly from Dbrand itself - the skins are easy to install. If you screw up, can ask for a replacement, just need to pay shipping charges ($5).

Technically right, but doesn’t impact much.

Macbooks does not produce as much heat as one expect, it mainly runs silent until you’re doing a heavier task.

With that being said, I’ve had skins on my previous Razer Blades which were x2 or x3 hotter than Macbooks even on a standard browsing basis - there’s no impact on the heat caused by it at all.

Also the new 14/16 has side vents now, on top the bottom rear ones so the heat dissipation is much better as well.

I’m just sharing from an experienced skin user for more than 5 years - never once experienced any issues with skins.
