dbrand skin looks good indeed. but i cant find any info on this free replacement thingy. is this official or something that is decided on a case-by-case basis? (depends on our luck basically).
the 'terms of sale' on their website says 'no warranties' and no liabilities for damages..  hmm.gif

long time ago, i used zagg invisible shield on my silver mbp. no residue/stains upon removing too, but the transparent skin gets yellowish quite fast. but good thing is they provide lifetime warranty hence i ordered free skin replacement every one year or so but a bit troublesome have to uninstall and install the skin again.. doh.gif after that, never use skin again..

Its not stated but you can request for it via email - their customer support is top-notch.

How long was it skinned before you remove it? if it’s used over 2-3 years and no residue upon removing then it’s really worth getting, I’ve seen my colleagues putting stickers on their space grey mbp and when they remove them, you can see stains in silver, removing the anodized space grey paint…even on silver mbp’s I’ve seen stains in yellow…sweat.gif

btw andrewtho is that a cutout hole on the apple logo or it’s actually transparent film? Couldn’t tell much from YouTube videos..
think I’ll go for mx master, the thing is, the next gen should be about time to release, based on the record, it should be here pretty soon? I’m not in a rush to get a mouse since I’m using the Magic Trackpad, whats your take on this?
*
I had a few almost 2 years - no residue at all. Normal stickers will defo leave stains, DBrand uses 3M adhesive, similar to the ones used for car vinyl wraps. But again, you can decide if you want to take the risk to do so - I can't promise you that nothing will happen sweat.gif

The cutout is without any sticker - basically just a see-thru gap leaving the logo exposed. I will usually get the one without cutout.

Err if you're in no hurry to get a new mouse, I guess you can always wait out - if the Trackpad is not giving you any headaches thumbup.gif

Just received by replacement device from Apple today after complaining that the previous device has scratches.
The replacement device looks fine but the screen has multiple micro scratches (in dot shapes) and smudges.
The smudges are easily removable with microfibre cloth though.
Otherwise the device is working fine.
Not sure if I am having bad luck or this batch of laptop is bad.
I am thinking if I should ask for another replacement or just live with the micro scratches. Sigh  doh.gif

Don't think you should be accepting anything less than perfect for your device. You did pay a huge amount of money for it, expect it to be at the best condition out of the box.

Yea I’ve always had the assumption that the battery degrades faster the more we leave it plugged in, but recent readings show otherwise…there were few other forums who suggested the same as link above, so I’m really curious does plugging in really lower the cycle count and  bypasses the battery usage…
*
One of my practice is to keep it plugged in for most days and cycle charge at least once a week - drain the battery until 20% and charge until full again.

As long as you make this a habit, its totally fine. I picked up this habit from my previous Razer Blade laptop, those things can't run well on battery so it needs to be plugged in most of the time - but eventually need to cycle charge also.

Then again, I wouldn't put too much stress on the batteries as they are replaceable - we should just use our devices as intended, at our convenience.

hi, would anyone recommend this green 100w charger: https://s.lazada.com.my/s.e4R2J

or any better alternative? Preferably lightweight and can support mbp + 2 more ports for mobile, etc.
*
I’m currently using this to power my 2 HomePods Mini and 1 more USB C for iPad / MacBook.

I left the USB A port untouched, not sure why but whenever I connect 4 ports all together, the USB C ports gets compromised (not enough power) although it (USB A) was only 5W to charge my AirPods sweat.gif

Other than that issue, it works fine, doesn’t get too hot as well.

Just received the Baseus 100w powerbank. Damn didn’t know the footprint was so big of I would have reconsidered other options. It is slim though…

I have recently 'downgraded' my 16 inch to a 14 inch mainly due to portability factor and I am very much surprised by the screen estate.

Did you find the 14" screen almost like the 15" screen?
*
It does actually feel smaller than the 15" that's for sure, but just a slightly 'beefed' up version of the 13" - especially the top/bottom bezels are much thinner now.

Overall I feel this tradeoff of screen estate for portability really does make alot of sense for my use case. I think the only major differences I can tell is the battery - the 16" endurance is far more superior vs the 14".

helo guys, wanna ask normally what to check when i'm buying a 2nd hand macbook? other than the usual warranty, receipt and physical conditions.

is there like modded units or fake mac out there that i need to watch out?

and also i've seen 1 macbook pro 16inch 1TB selling brand new for rm9799 on carousel, is that legit?
*
I guess it really depends on the seller, how reputable are they?

Based on my experience from selling used Macs, the buyers will usually check the validity of warranty and receipt, then physical condition as per described on the selling post, then the usual things like battery health, screen and speakers.

For 'cheaper' priced new Macbooks, they are usually imported units either from US or HK depending on the seller and usually the warranty are already 'activated' hence upon receiving it, you won't be getting a full 12 months coverage. It really depends if you are willing to compromise on these. The plug points might be different too, for US units of course.

Always check, verify and re-verify before purchasing.

Anyone got experience with the lazada seller
"Apple Authorised Reseller"?
Some of the prices seem too good to be true but it's under lazmall and quite a number of reviews.
M2 MBA 512gb 10core gpu going for 5.4k
Base MBP 14 7299
Too good to be true?

It's a legit store.

Under Lazada, there's a couple of 'authorized reseller' and this includes Apple Authorized Reseller, Switch, Machines, TMT etc - just refer to the LazMall Flagship Store badge for authenticity.

Yes they do run promotion occasionally because most of their stocks are ready-stocks hence they clear their inventory quite fast too.

Yeah because different target audience ma.

Silver for me is the safest colour albeit being boring - wear and tear especially.
