iPhone 13 pro max take photography to the next level. Now can adjust the color preference u want wow
*
I felt like they put even more focus on the phone’s cinematography skills though…

QUOTE(westlife @ Sep 15 2021, 02:17 AM)
ipad mini is more worthy to buy haha.
*
Very steep jump in price compared to the older Mini and too close to the new iPad Air price for me. I’d pick the Air unless you really want the small size.

QUOTE(YS3nsatiOn @ Sep 15 2021, 02:20 AM)
Holy shucks!! I'm actually quite impressed! Should I do it?!?!? But I'm using 12 PM
*
Just do it bro. Don’t think too hard, Hahaha…

1TB is cool... finally there is 1TB option. haha.

You’ve been waiting for this laugh.gif I still can’t utilise 128GB in a year of ownership…

QUOTE(drumstix @ Sep 15 2021, 02:42 AM)
TLDR

Is iPhone 12 pro gonna be discontinued?
*
Yes, already discontinued on Apple’s official website

Trade in price at Switch for 12 Pro Max 256gb is 3865
13 Pro Max 256gb 5799

I can get a new phone with less than 2k so why not?

Quite glad many people think the changes are not significant enough. So the queue is shorter this year I hope
*
That’s quite a good deal if they can keep the price till next month when the 13 launches, but I suspect they may reduce it further…

QUOTE(doppatroll @ Sep 15 2021, 08:12 AM)
Haha....no one talking about smaller notch
*
I think Apple users all too accustomed to the Notch, no feel already unless it’s completely removed.

Two omissions disappoint me - no integration of Touch ID on the power button (we will be wearing masks for the foreseeable future) and I’m slightly unhappy about them not transitioning lightning to USB C yet. Maybe next year.

QUOTE(drumstix @ Sep 15 2021, 08:38 AM)
Now I’m thinking if I should go for iPhone 11 or 13. Coming from iPhone X. Seems like the best choice is iPhone 13 🤤
*
I don't see that much of an upgrade from the normal 12 to 13 - no high refresh rate display as well. If you're into photography/cinematography then the 13 would be an excellent choice, otherwise if you can get a 12 on a good deal, I'd say go for the 12 - it's a great phone albeit the battery life is inadequate if you're a heavy user and have limited access to charging points during the day.

QUOTE(farkingdom @ Sep 15 2021, 08:47 AM)
I don’t think the iPhone will transition so fast to USB-C or at all.
Few factors: the lightning port is making Apple tons of cash in terms of licensing etc, Apple thinks lightning port is better waterproof than USB C, and Many of their accessories are still lightning based to charge, eg Airpods, new AppleTV remote, Apple Pencil 1st gen etc
*
Yeah, I thought that with the EU putting pressure on Apple to standardized the ports they might give in sooner rather than later. I do have a number of lightning accessories too so I'm not too bothered about it that much smile.gif

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Sep 15 2021, 09:00 AM)
Already done so with the iPad Mini / Air (TouchID).

But thats only because there’s no FaceID sensor on those devices - doesn’t make sense to have 2 authentication method in one device, will only further drive up the cost.

Also I guess Apple is hitting a roadblock in terms of technological advancement, in fact alot of manufacturers do. Now the key highlight features is always about the camera and screens only.
*
Good points. Anyways, I'm waiting for maxis to release their plans now. Have you decided if you will upgrade, bro? smile.gif

I’m waiting for reviews to decide - still on the fence. I mean the ProMotion screen will be a plus point for me for sure.

Yeah let’s wait out for Maxis to announce their plans. Which colorway are you going for?
*
Sierra Blue, but of course biggrin.gif

I'm OK with Graphite too if the new colorway is out of stock (which I suspect it will be)...

I accidentally uploaded this on the 12 Pro/Pro Max thread instead of here...

Anyone else thinks the phone is too heavy?

Also, for the accessories buffs out there, would the 0.25mm extra in thickness for the 13PM vs the 12PM make a difference when it comes to casings?

Yes! I’m using the 12 pro max already super heavy plus cover all. Can really feel the weight when watching videos lying down etc.  I can’t imagine the 13 pro max. Wouldn’t go heavier tbh.
*
Ya, I used the 12 Pro Max for a while, felt kinda hefty. It’s fine when we’re all WFH and not going out much but since we are opening up more these days probably something to consider when choosing between the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Sep 15 2021, 12:30 PM)
Haha... He better do. I hold his word for it. nod.gif

Nolar bro.. Im actually not too excited about this new phone. Just a replacement for my aging XS Max. Dont know why but new phones just dont excite me like last time anymore.  sweat.gif
*
I’m sure I have an old 5W charger somewhere laugh.gif

Ya, I feel the same way about new phones these days too. The fact that the prices are so high isn’t helping.

QUOTE(Ch3n_low @ Sep 15 2021, 01:23 PM)
I wonder if 12 PM cases fits on 13 PM

Ya, I also wonder how much difference the 0.25mm makes? 0.25mm is not something we can see with our naked eye laugh.gif

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Sep 15 2021, 02:23 PM)
What’s worse is now still WFH cannot show off casing so alot of casing still brand spanking new 🥲

For me the worst part of the whole WFH thingy is no chance to test the camera, especially the night modes and what not. No mood to take photos of my taman laugh.gif

Same here. After a year of usage, my current iPhone storage utilised is 30GB of 128GB, hahaha. Granted, it’s been a year of hardly any photos and videos…

QUOTE(Zanei Gundan @ Sep 15 2021, 05:50 PM)
is 120hz really worth it over the iphone 13 regular?

rm 1k extra for a single feature is really asking a lot.....
*
It’s not just a single feature la, but the extra features may be something you don’t appreciate then that makes it not worth to go with the Pro. An argument can also be made about not needing to go for the regular 13 and going for the 12 instead.

12 is bad battery. full stop. end of argument.

and fair what to narrow down to what feature ill be appreciating. because thats where the extra money goes to.
regular 13 got all those except for gpu which is for mobile gayming, which i dont

and camera...its only telephoto, which again i rarely shoots with
*
I used the 12 for a few months and while I agree the battery life isn’t stellar, it’s not all that bad for the average user. 4 hours of screen time over a 24-hour period won’t be a problem, of course that won’t cut it for heavy users particularly if they use LTE/4G more than WiFi. I’ll have to wait to see the actual real life battery usage of the 13 to see if it’s a worthwhile upgrade over the 12. Yeah, in the end, it’s our money so you pick the right phone that suits your budget and usage.

QUOTE(exwuliao @ Sep 15 2021, 10:48 PM)
I got to know that apple.com doesn't offer 0% interest instalment. Means I gotta go with resellers instead.
Based on experience, which ones have great service?
*
Yeah, Apple MY website doesn’t offer any interest-free payment. As far as the retailers go, I think their service is more or less about the same - just need to pick one that offers instalments and has stocks of the model that you are looking for.

QUOTE(kens88` @ Sep 15 2021, 11:11 PM)
I looking for 36 months installment. Any idea how to get it?

Switch I remember got offer but need to buy their rm800 insurance. Not really interested if that is the case
*
SenQ or Senheng probably has 36 months instalments for certain credit cards but there’s a nominal service fee if not mistaken. Yeah, don’t pay for all those third party protection plan - it’s a bit unscrupulous for the sellers to force that on the buyers.

Thinking of either getting 13 pro max 256gb or 1TB.
Prefer 1TB because I record videos a lot and take pictures.

I prefer larger size, but seems like the resale value for 1TB isn't that good in the near future? Since most people only buy 128 or 256gb based on what I read here and in Mobile Garage Sales
*
The higher the price of the phone, the greater the depreciation so that affects the resale value. Also, not many people need a 1TB phone unless you are willing to part with it for cheap otherwise it may not attract prospective buyers.

As one who buys and sells many phones over the years, I personally find it difficult to pay RM3k or more for a used phone, especially if the warranty has expired. I think it's one of the reasons why selling off used iPhones isn't as easy as it used to be - especially at the price you want.

Apple takde promotion one la, unless it's for older phones and that also offered by resellers and not Apple themselves...

Yes. So what I see based on the 2nd hand value is correct.
The higher the price of the phone, the greater the depreciation.

Since I upgrade every year but selling the old one and buy new one. I guess I will get the 256gb one.

Since no people will fork out more than Rm3k to buy a used phone
*
Ya, if you upgrade every year 256GB would be the sweet spot. I was thinking of getting the 128GB one but as I’m most likely passing the phone to my wife when I’m done with it I’ll likely get the 256GB one too.

But Pro and Pro Max camera got diff right? And also the Promotion?
Or all the same except battery only.
Why launching no reveal the spec geh? Hahaha... Wanna make it as mystery ka?
*
That's Apple for you. They will tell you the benefits, but theywon't tell you the features or specs, hahaha...

This round there is no difference between the Pro and Pro Max except for the screen size and the battery capacity... But after reading this article, I think I'll stick to the Pro Max.

"All four iPhone 13 models have larger batteries this year, which means you should easily be able to get through a full day of moderate use without much problem.

The iPhone 13 mini has a 2,406mAh battery. While that’s an improvement over the 2,227mAh battery on the iPhone 12 mini, it’s still pretty small. Apple claims you should get an additional hour and a half of battery life with its latest entry-level flagship.

Both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro have a 3,095mAh battery. That’s a boost from them 2,815mAh batteries found on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, but there’s a big difference. Apple says you’ll get an extra 2.5 hours of battery life on the iPhone 13, but only 1.5 hours more on the iPhone 13 Pro.

Finally, the iPhone 13 Pro Max sports a massive 4,352mAh battery compared with the 3,687mAh battery found on last year’s model. It should also give you an extra 2.5 hours of juice throughout the day.

With the exception of the iPhone 13 mini, we think all of Apple’s latest flagships should get you through the day without much trouble. All things compared, the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Max will have similar battery drain profiles."

QUOTE(dikae @ Sep 16 2021, 04:07 PM)
i'm skeptical when comes to battery on mobile phone so its pretty fixed for me for pro max models...the weight is not an issue to me and bigger battery + bigger screen is always good...
*
Ya, same here. I have used the iPhone 12 before.. it can get me through a day with reasonable use with around 4-5 hours of screen time in a 24 hour period but that's considering the pandemic, working from home and no travel plus very little use of the camera. The bigger the battery the safer smile.gif

QUOTE(jackbanner @ Sep 16 2021, 05:13 PM)
Which Apple power adapter is the most suitable for use with iphone 13 pro max?
*
The 13 Pro Max comes with a USB C to lightning cable, hence best to go for the 20W adapter.

Well been hearing people around me always talk about the stability of the OS and also the reliability compared to android. I always thought that apple is behind in terms of spect compared to android. But after going through lots of reviews and decided to give it a try as I never experienced iphone usage before. smile.gif
*
I’ve used both Android and iOS for years (still use both even now) and I would say that Android has improved in leaps and bounds over the years. I don’t buy all the Apple fan talk about iOS being far more stable than Android these days - and I’m an Apple fan myself so that’s saying something, hahaha. Granted Apple makes both hardware and software hence the integration is far better unlike Android where there’s numerous phone manufacturers all with their own interpretation of how Android should look and feel. For that reason also iOS apps are generally of better quality and far more stable, that I will admit. But iOS ain’t perfect - the “closed” nature of iOS can cause a lot of niggles and frustrations especially for the purists that enjoy the liberties and openness Android offers. You might enjoy it or completely hate it biggrin.gif

That is main reason I must have an iphone as my daily driver. Security. nod.gif

I still don't have full confidence on android mainly because each manufacturer could customize their own version of android heavily for whatever reasons deemed necessary to them. You know how hate those self pop up ads on Miui and that is one of the main reasons I am never going to use any of their android phones.
*
Hahaha, yeah, that's the one weakness of Android over iOS in that there are too many manufacturers and their own customization hence it affects quality of apps, security, etc. I just moved my work phone from the OnePlus Nord CE to the Poco F3 yesterday and it's all good so far. No pop-up ads la bro, it's an exaggeration. A lot of the ads and what not in MIUI can be disabled or removed completely without having to root the phone these days. Granted, MIUI is still not for everyone but credit where credit is due, in terms of dollar for specs, Xiaomi is still hard to beat. Anyways, I digress. Back to iPhone discussion.

Ya man, simple stuffs such as attaching a file to an email takes more effort than it should sometimes... sigh... I've grown accustomed to it but I make it a point to warn the Android purists before they jump into the iOS bandwagon and discover these little "surprises", hahaha...

This, especially when you switch to iOS from Android just to realize that you have a big problem to transfer data from Android to iOS  laugh.gif
- Feedback from colleague, who find out I have plan to switch, but is it difficult to do like he say? or it is just exaggerated?
*
QUOTE(blaze91 @ Sep 16 2021, 11:54 PM)
up this...I have the same question too. What are the things need to be taken into consideration when moving from android to IOS.
*
It's not an exaggeration - it really is troublesome, hahaha...

Well for one, your WhatsApp history is not transferable across platforms unless you invest in a third party software like BackUpTrans. Some of your apps with saved passwords and data won't transfer over so that's a bummer as well. If your photos are in your device and not on Google photos, then transferring it over to your iPhone will take just that little bit more effort than it should. Stuffs like that. The worst part is if you wanna go back from iPhone to Android, then you have to reverse the process - painfully, hahaha... I used to do that a lot by changing my primary devices from iPhones to Android phones but I've given up the ghost. Now I just stick to iPhone as my main driver and I keep an Android for work/secondary device. Settled.
