Am looking at the Civic but have one concern. You guys are not worried about the sticky steering issue after the 5 years warranty period?

Maybe can send refurbish shop after warranty. Change the worn out/ malfunction parts of the steering rack. SC just replace it one to one, the issues is, it kinda no improvement made for the defect on Steering rack last time. Not sure nowadays have improvement made or not, believe yes. My car back then 3 times change Driveshaft under warranty, it keep happening even after warranty claim. 4th time ask outside workshop to outsource and install it for me, not resolved already
*
That's the thing I am worried about, if I need continue to keep changing the steering rack after warranty is over as well, this is kinda ridiculous. lol IS it a common part that is malfunctioning or it's random parts within the rack?

many things can happen in 5 years..
maybe by the time 4th year, sell off and change new car..

for me its either get the car i like, and live with it, or get a boring car that i dont like.

but thats me la. my FE changed new rack in June, now slight DUK sound is back occasionally.  laugh.gif
but i just leave it la. until teruk only go SC claim, most probably next year it will worsen.

If it happens again for the 3rd time.. ok time to find a new car  brows.gif
*
Ahahha. I guess you guys are still young and have high tolerance with it.

I typically drive my car till it can't go anymore. Case in point, I am still driving a 18 year old Accord cause it was maintained well and did not have repeated issues. Only thinking of changing now cause I think transmission was giving way but after sending back to Honda to check, they told me everything is okie and can't find any fault with the gearbox. From that day onwards, my transmission did not exhibit any issue. lol

im almost 40 yo... recent years couldnt be bothered with these things already, just let it be.
even some little rattling sounds/scratches i also numb already.

when i am in my 20s. i cannot tahan all these things on my car, always go bising at SC  doh.gif  laugh.gif
*
I'm like that too when I was in my 20s. lol.

We're about the same age I guess but I still want at least those things to work as it should. Scratches and dings on the body I can overlook but if my steering sticks, I am very sure that I will be pissed.

Since I'm surveying, besides the steering rack issue, any problems with the CVT? Reason I held out buying an Accord or Civic was because they moved from AT to CVT which I don't like the feel. Too much engine whining without the car moving. biggrin.gif

CVT no issue so far.. about the CVT whining sound i dont really notice it, sounds just like my previous 6AT car.

as for the steering rack.. since still surveying. can just wait and see next year..
in FB group there're people saying about improve rack, but personally i dont really believe it  laugh.gif
*
Thanks for the feedback. Lol. The improve rack thingy I've heard for years d. lol. Not gonna depend on them for it.

I guess eventually someone would recommend a good shop here for all steering rack issues.

Just booked a V spec. 7k discount.

Coming from an Accord, the car sure is low. lol

Question, anybody picked up the Benson tint from them? How is it compared to Raytech if you guys have used Raytech before.

Spent the weekend reading up to 186 pages. Few pointers for new buyers to take note:
1) Android Auto wireless can be enabled through the development mode. Search of android auto and there's a youtube video linked to it
2) There's some interference issue involving HRV and FC; disable front parking sensors will do<-- Has this been fixed?
3) Seat is uncomfortable, I tested a RS unit and felt it was like sitting on a wooden bench but was thinking this is part of the RS trim; would V spec be the same?
4) Dashcam, get a 70mai A400. M500 is abit overkill?
5) Rattling sound seems normal so either live with it or go hunt it down over the next few months.
6) Many went for Llumar tint. Personally going for raytech.
7) Was wondering what's wrong with the dashboard that Msia Civic has. Was not an issue for me but seeing so many bitching about it, it's starting to annoy me. lol
8) Speakers are a hit or miss so I would have to see it for myself. My old Accord ( CM5 ) worked well for me till today but I was very disappointed with the CP2's speakers.
9) Many floormats avail, trapo, Enzo, dodo, 3d, kamatto. There are coil ones too but can't remember the name. Personally going for DoDo.
10) Wife's bitching can mask NVH or vice versa....

Got some questions.
1) Anybody coated the headlights? As we know, Honda's headlights are notoriously easy to turn yellow after 4-5 years or maybe even faster if constantly exposed to sunlight
2) This is for the PG folks, where's a good detailing shop? Am thinking to polish the car after a month before manually coating myself.

Getting the car this week. Wait time was less than a week from the day I said "I do". Was contemplating a G20 before this but decided to be responsible in my purchase. Also, Msport suspension threw me off the G20 so it was a pretty easy decision for the Civic.

DIY coating is so cheap you might as well coat it and see the result 4-5 yrs later

Agree but I need someone to polish/compound the surface once before i coat it. biggrin.gif

It is until you drive out and terus rain or bird craps on your car when parked outside. If I have a landed house, perhaps I would be more hardworking but am in a condo. biggrin.gif

side note, I read some forums regarding Civic ownership in the US but don't see much CVT or EPS complains. Really do hope they did something about EPS.

fed up with HM. Brake juddering since many gen back model, still never resolve one. Only ask customer to pay rm700/pair for brakepad at SC but poor quality.
*
Just use aftermarket pads, this would solve it. I gave up using Honda brake pads long time ago.

Is it juddering due to honda pads? But i see honda pads doesnt generate dust and the disc brake not rusty also like my previous car. Maybe is the disc brake is coated type.

Mine judder especially when inside parking or u wan to move the car abit and u lift the brake abit then u can hear the judder sound, already gave up on it cos test drive car also got same thing 😂
*
They have been having juddering problems since the early 2000s. It was a very famous problem with the Accords back then. They even had a recall to change the pads to the Japanese made ones which solved it. Most if not all the brake pads are either from Thailand or somewhere else and different from the ones they can get from Japan.

I've used aftermarket pads after my warranty with them back then. Never had problems with juddering after that. You can try to source Nissin Japan parts, I believe it will solve it as well.

TRW pad here, use that since 2018, no more juddering. Ask a few owners who spend rm700 per pair at SC, it juddering back after some time, especially down the Karak highway. The SC pad are made in Thailand, ask the technician at SC last time, he even asked to change outside if possible.
*
Yeah, back then when it was under warranty, I get almost a new pad every year since I complain every year. Have went through ProjectU, HawkHPS and Nissin ( Japan ) without any issues.

Getting my FE tomorrow or Tuesday, can't wait. wahhhhoooooo

U mean Sc solve it by askin u to buy their pads to stop juddering?

They kept replacing the pads for me whenever I complained juddering. So basically did not have to pay for brake pads for almost 7 years.
