Shame... but its still a really tempting option for me after the rebates, just for the powertrain actually. Its quite a steal for 155k (after rebates)
*
Can send outside for refurbish the damaged steering rack then. I believe they have much better skill and idea on how to make sure it is ok, even put warranty for it

My family CX5 claim new tyre bearing under warranty when the car was at 12k km, and another keep on hearing rattling at interior, turn out steering clock spring. This one kinda cat and mouse games last time with few times SC appointment cz hard to know which part emit that rattling noise. Was assume tyre parts, but technician changed it, rattling sound still have

QUOTE(Cavino @ Jul 10 2024, 10:04 AM)
The moment they start throwing price at this period of time, they are likely trying to clear stock for the coming facelift liao. Haha. At least it gives that impression. Ehev are a much harder sell due to their high price, add a few K more can buy a CRV E spec liao. So better throw price now to start clearing stock.

But being a City eHev driver, I can say the driving refinement of eHev is a class above the petrol counterpart. Some might argue on that tho but being a daily drive of both old petrol City and new eHev City, even I cannot differentiate the difference of normal petrol City and eHev on first drive until I drove them immediately one after another. The much smoother gearless lower to mid range speed acceleration, the vibration of cars, can follow 10K service maint schedule (vs turbo) is something the petrol variant cannot match.

Although City has weakness of loud engine restart noise especially during idle, Civic and Crv 2.0 engine has minimize such annoyance. I got used to it tho....then every time the noise appear during idle, I know I will have true EV silent acceleration after that with no vibration.

Those are normally not mentioned when ppl compare petrol vs eHev variant. They only look at fuel savings vs high pricing of eHev. We do pay more premium in the end coz we have to consider the possible lower resale value and battery replacement cost BUT the higher selling price will eventually be negated by fuel price increment especially if we drive a lot (unfortunately for hybrid drivers that don't drive much, then not worth the increase cost). My 100km daily trip almost double the mileage per full tank with eHev. For City, that means I can recover the price difference within 5 years and that is assuming the price stays at 2.05. For Civic, much longer a bit but that is again assuming price stays at 2.05. After that, it is cost saving all the ways...still cannot make up battery change difference but at least can reduce the eventual cost of replacement (if necessary).

The other major weakness is no spare tyre. In Malaysia road where almost every car has kena punctured before, it is a headache. Lets hope the portable tyre pump can handle the leak as long as gap is not too huge.

First, we need to wait Thai market 1st, if they launch the facelift version, then only we add couple of months to launch in our market. Typical HM, facelift when car at 4-5 years life cycles, which was on our market back in Jan 22, doubt they wanna launch facelift version soon. Starting 2023 already, plenty of SA give rebates for this Civic, up to rm10k, look at FB group Civic if really want grab any good offer.

my friend's CBU CX-30 also rattle like nuts. CRV 1.5 TCP (2023, not the current latest) one also rattled. His ex CX-5 2.2 diesel was surprising tight and not rattling. All this is based on 1 sample size each.

Have to accept it and move on if not in and out of service center like no tomorrow and believe me they will ask any Tom dick and harry without sufficient bulu on their body to dismantle, pull out and reattach your panels and trims.
After one too many, your studs will start getting loose and things will rattle anyway.
*
ask ur friend to send here for rattling issue etc, Bermaz Motor Trading Sdn Bhd (Body & Paint Centre), Gleanmarie. Their tech solve my family car big time vs other SC

Even if the facelift launch i doubt its gonna be any big difference other than cosmetic change. Maybe HM will finally give BSM? Maybe they will fix the hard seats in the RS? Maybe Bose? (a bit far fetched but since CRV got it.... ). Some say it will also get the slightly more powerful powertrain (+ 20nm) from the CRV hybrid. But looking at how slow production is for that now, not sure if HM want to add another model to share the same powertrain

All these probably will add up to the price which is already very expensive to begin with for a Civic (167k). The pricing now is the sweet spot after rebates (155 - 157k~)
*
Being HM, doubt so they will make changes for the engine/gb on facelift practice, which carryover is the norm. Facelift maybe putting back more features that were omitted for our market, so BSM I believe, together the cosmetics changes. In the US, BSM as standard starting for model like 5 years back, but in SEA, 5 years back only introducing the Lanewatch on most model, Accord G9 2013 got it for first model in SEA.

Were there any sign of battery weak before it died?
*
Usually not detected, it can run normally prior to a flat battery situation. Pro nowadays, buy battery from apps, within 30 minutes can arrive in my case last time, Bangi area

Facelifted Civic launched in Thailand. As expected not much changes other than cosmetics

The biggest change was the HU now using Android automotive OS, 4 way power adjustable front passenger seat, and Bose for the full spec hybrid
*
Long time already Honda never do engine upgrades for facelift. Always cosmetics

If only they can pad the seats to be slightly thicker for less butt pain and give an eight way power seat on the passenger. For me, that will like be the 2 most important change for comfort but I think they skip that.
*
should go to car seat shop, they can do as per your request, add more padding for comfort, change back the leather on it after open it. I know many Civic owner had torn leather at the seat at side area

Same here. From all the research i've done, it's all the extreme of one end. It's either "i don't have this problem, driven 100k km" or "this is my 3rd time changing steering rack and it's not even 20k km yet". I don't mind the steering rack issue as long as they are ways in rectifying it permanently, however, HM seems to be taking everyone for a ride here.

Hoping that they will resolve the issue in the facelift, if not, would probably skip this generation of civic and wait for another 3 years for the FMC.
*
Last time they did recall this items, and that time many thoughts HM already found the solution etc, maybe change vendor to a better company, different parts design with better materials. But unfortunately it is still the same issues for the rack, and many said it basically the same similar parts except the invoices are much cheaper in price for the updated rack

The thing with Honda Malaysia's steering rack issue is not limited to 1 model like Civic only. Basically the entire fleet of product has this same problem. Driving a HRV, changed twice still got sound. My mechanic friend that runs a shop, he said bulk of Honda car that came in also changing steering rack only. As long as people continue buying their new cars, they won't fix this.
*
Told the same last time but most potential owner said this new model sure improve one. Now the same for new CRV. Not blaming the owner but blame HM

I doubt so becoz black and white only write 5 years. In the US or some western countries I heard extended to 7 and 8 years for steering rack issue but definitely not in Malaysia or ASEAN countries.
*
If follow black & white it is 5 years warranty. SC and SA can say anything, but once u make warranty claim via SC, they will send the application to HQ for part claim. So it will be decided by HQ.

ahh its you at the other thread..
yours is V spec?

I'm gonna decide within this month to let go my FE and get other new car.

2 scenarios i analyze
- either i bite the bullet and sell off before facelift civic launch (to try save some value on the FE)
- use the car until 4th year only decide, which i have to live with the stupid steering rack issues and make myself stress and fedup for another 2 years

From what i read on FB, even new CRVs also affected already doh.gif .  I highly doubt those so called improved parts for FE will solve the problem once and for all.
*
Then it is completed, all model affected for the steering rack. Funny HM still smiling happily even many raised concern for the rack. Not even a single local YouTubers brave enough to make some sound to HM for the rack.

I hate to be in your situation especially foresee taking abit money lost due to selling the car at lower than expected price due to this rack, HM giving rebates for 5 figure. Is there any specialist that able to come out with solution on the rack?
